At this early age,play is a child's most important form of learningand development. We provide programs andactivities where children learn, explore, developathletic skills, build a positive self-image anddevelop social relationships with other children.

PRESCHOOL/EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMPreschool is an exciting time as children embark on new adventures in theworld of learning. At the Y, we regard each child as a unique individual whoneeds to be understood, guided, encouraged and appreciated. Our programsprovide activities where children learn, explore, build a positive self-image and develop strong social and emotional relationships. Y programsencourage children to explore their creativity through multi-sensoryexperiences and create a language-rich environment to promote and fostera love of reading. Children are exposed to art, music, math and science asthey develop expressive and receptive language and gross motor skills.

Indian Boundary Just 2's Preschool Program

Monday and Friday 8:30-11 a.m.

Our two-year-old program provides a positive initial learningexperience for each child in preparation for early success and schoolreadiness. Through games, art, songs, finger plays, children's literatureand activities, our two-year-old children learn and grow at their own pace.Classroom activities follow our teacher-developed curriculum, with anemphasis on letters, numbers, shapes, colors and language skills.

Our two-year-old curriculum is rounded out by exposing our students to awide variety of cultural and artistic experiences, including the following:• Creative art activities• Movement activities• Children's yoga

TWO-YEAR-OLDS DO NOT HAVE TO BE POTTYTRAINED TO ATTEND THE PROGRAM!

Indian Boundary 3, 4, and 5-Year-Old Preschool Program

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30-11 a.m.

Our preschoolers discover science, arts, healthy habits, literacyand more! We know that children want to explore everything at this age,and here, they can! Our preschool uses the YMCA Character Developmentguidelines, as well as The Creative Curriculum for Preschool developed byTeaching Strategies, Inc., which is designed to provide a well-rounded earlylearning program for children prior to Kindergarten. Here, children receiveclassroom instruction in core components like science, art, dramatic playand more, as well as physical fitness activities and swimming lessons forthree-, four- and five-year-old preschoolers.

PRESCHOOL AQUATICSParent/Child Swim Lessons Shrimp/Kipper/Inia/Perch(Ages 6 months to 3 years)

Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to workwith their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basicwater safety and swim skills. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Group Preschool Swim Lessons (Ages 3-5)

These programs offer children their first experience in the water withouta parent. Children are taught basic skills that are the building blocksof swimming, including water propulsion, floating, body awareness andindependence. They are also taught some general aquatic safety andpool games. Children will be taught with and without the use of variousinstructional flotation devices.

Pike - For children who cannot swim by themselves andcannot swim on their back.

Eel - For children who have moved up from the Pike class, or who can swimby themselves and float on their front and back.

Ray - For children who have moved up from the Eel class, or who can swimthe length of the pool (25 yards) by themselves.

Starfish - For children who have moved up from the Ray class, orwho can swim the length of the pool (25 yards) on their front, back andside by themselves.

Basketball Level 1: Beginner YMCA sports staff will teach you thefundamentals, giving you tips to help your child play basketball. Ifyou're looking for advanced options, please see Basketball Level 2 in ourYouth section

Jr. Stars Sports Assorts: Don't play one sport, play them all. Thissports-orientated class is an introduction to a variety of sports activities.Each week the YMCA will introduce a new sport to these young participants.The season will include basketball, kickball, t-ball and much more.

Rock and Swim: Come learn the basics of rock climbing, bouldering andbelaying, then head to the pool for a 30-minute swim lesson that willincorporate the YMCA National Swim Lesson Program where we stress wateradjustment and beginning swim lessons.

Soccer Level 1: Beginner Boys and girls will learn the basics of soccerin this great introductory class. Junior athletes will learn how to dribble,pass and shoot in a fun team atmosphere. Equipment is age-appropriate,which makes learning the game fun and easy. If you're looking for advancedoptions, please see Soccer Level 2 in our Youth section.

Climbing Level 1: This exciting class is designed to challenge allparticipants to step out of their comfort zone under the guidance of ourclimbing staff. Participants will learn basic climbing techniques. We'll focuson goal setting and striving to achieve individual and team goals. Theseclasses are progressive and designed for a variety of experience levels.

Kinder Gym and Play Come play games, listen to music and developphysical and social skills at the same time. We'll focus on balance,coordination and social skills.

Preschool Gym: This class is an introduction to gymnastics. Children willbuild tumbling skills and learn basic moves on the balance beam and bars. Afun way for children to exercise and learn!

Parent/Child Preschool Gym: A very basic class to introduce childrento tumbling. Parents or caregivers participate in this class with theirchild. This class helps develop strength, flexibility, coordination and spatialbody awareness.

Summer Baseball Leagues: It's America's favorite pastime! At IndianBoundary YMCA, participants will learn the basic skills of baseball, likethrowing, catching and hitting. Children learn the value of teamwork and theskills needed to be successful in any future baseball programs.

Flag Football Leagues: The YMCA is known for its football leagues. Thereare 3 different divisions of football based on each age group. Each divisionplays games to enhance each participant's skills in the game of football.

Soccer Leagues: Indian Boundary is proud to offer anotherseason of soccer. At IBY, we're known for the quality of our programs aswell as the professionalism of our instructors and volunteers. Participantswill learn the fundamentals of soccer in an environment that fosters growthin both mind and body. Youth Soccer Leagues are 8-week programs withgames played on Saturdays!

Basketball Leagues: Join us for another sizzling season of basketball.Indian Boundary is known throughout the community for its amazingbasketball programs. Be a part of what everyone is talking about. This8-week league will teach participants the value of teamwork as well as theskills of basketball. YOUTH PROGRAMSAt the Y, we're committed to helping kids be theirbest selves. Through the Y's school age programs,youth cultivate the values, skills and relationshipsthat lead to positive behaviors, better health,meaningful friendships, self-confidence andeducational achievement, all while having fun!

YOUTH PROGRAMSBEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOLSchool Age Child Care Programming (Before and After School Care)

The Indian Boundary YMCA offers a safe and positive environment for itsBefore and After School Programs for children in grades 1-6. Our programemphasizes developing well-rounded youth. We are also licensed by DCFS.

Children participate in a balanced program of open play and structuredactivities. We offer Before Care Programming 7-8 a.m., and After CareProgramming from 3-6 p.m.

Children get involved in a variety of learning activities in addition toprogram components such as recreation, health enhancement, arts andhumanities programs, nutritional snacks, service learning, characterdevelopment and homework assistance. The IBY School Age Programsensure that children are given a unique mix of activities that focus ondevelopmental assets, the building blocks that teach children how tomake positive and intelligent decisions throughout life.

Before and After School Program Highlights• Light Continental breakfast and healthy snacks served daily• Inclusive swim lessons• Open swim• Structured activities• Character-building learning activities• Use of YMCA facilities• Daily homework help

Child Care Tuition and Payments

Auto draft is our preferred method of payment. All payments are due on the15th of each month. Payment is considered late after the 20th of the month.There is a $25 late fee after the 20th of the month. Fees are based on a9-month school year. There is a $25 NSF fee for all returned checks.

You are welcome to pay the balance prior to the due date. All paymentsmust be made at the member services desk. Child care staff or directors arenot allowed to accept and process payments.

There are no credits or refunds for missed days or snow days. Fees are notaltered due to illness. You will be unable to register for any YMCA programsif there is an outstanding balance for your child care programming.

Scholarship and AFC Payments

Scholarship and Action for Children applicants must be approved. If yourapplication is in process, you are responsible for the full cost of child careprogramming until you are approved.

For approved scholarship and AFC participants, co-payments anddifferentials are due to IBY at the 1st of the month. Scholarship and AFCparticipants will be held accountable to the Non-Payment Policy.

YOUTH SPORTSThe Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming activeand developing healthy habits they will continue throughout their lives. Ina Y sports program, your child will meet friends, learn new skills, improvehis or her fitness and most importantly have fun! Volleyball Level 1: Beginner Learn basic volleyball skills of hitting, passingand setting. This co-ed class is great for all levels to learn how to playvolleyball and have fun at the same time.

Basketball Level 2: Beginner Develop a positive attitude with fair playand teamwork. The YMCA instructor will focus on teaching the basics ofdribbling, passing and shooting. This co-ed class will be a slam dunk foryour player.

Basketball Level 3: Intermediate Dribble! Pass! Shoot! Learn the skills ofbasketball in a game-like setting. Intermediate skills will be taught, with anemphasis on defense and skill development.

Sport and Swim: This class combines fun in the pool with a sports mix.Each week, we'll play games and sample different sports. In the pool, yourchild will participate in swim lessons. The swimmers will be in classesaccording to their ability level.

Gymnastics Level 1 and 2: Participants will be grouped by skill level byqualified gymnastics instructors. Instructors and participants will strive forexcellence in their levels and work together for positive results you can see.

Climbing Level 2: This is an introduction to basic movement and belaytechniques. This is a progressive class that takes participants from thebasic to the intermediate skills of climbing. Participants will learn harnessand belay set-up, top rope belay techniques, knots, movement on the rock,bouldering, safety skills and goal setting.

Level 1: Polliwog This is the beginning level for school age children and isappropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction.Children will learn kicking skills, the basic paddle stroke on their front, backand sides, and will become comfortable putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Guppy In the Guppy class, swimmers will learn tofront and back float for 1 minute; front alternating paddle 25 yardswith rhythmic breathing, with and without an IFD; front symmetricalpaddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternatingpaddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive.Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front andback float for 30 seconds with or without an IFD; paddle 25 yards on theirfront, back and side with an IFD and 15 feet without an IFD; jump in withoutassistance; and be comfortable in deep water.

Arthritis Aquatics This is a recreational exercise program with awellness concept for people with arthritis to manage symptoms, maintainindependence and enjoy life. This program is taught in a group setting withactivities and exercises to encourage self-care, provide social interaction,and improve muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.

Dupage Ducks Masters Swim The DuPage Ducks Masters Swim Teammeets three times a week and works on increasing cardiovascular fitness,stroke development and speed under the direction of a swim coach. Greatfor triathletes or just staying in shape! MEMBERS ONLY, AGE 18 OR OLDER.

Swim Lessons Level 1: Beginner You're never too old to learn how toswim! Beginner swim lessons for individuals ages 11 and older. This is anopportunity to learn a lifetime exercise.

Fluid Running Want a really good workout without hitting the pavement?Want to burn 40% more calories per minute? This invigorating deep water

running class will give you all the benefits of running without the impact.This class is for people who want an overall great workout without gettingtheir hair wet. Flotation belts are provided. Heart rate monitors arerecommended but not required.
