Studies Show Preschools
Build Successful Children
The more liberal parents of today are beginning to question the necessity of early
education and whether preschool really does help children succeed in the long run or
not. Paying for preschool can be an additional expense, and some parents may think it
isn’t worth the extra buck.
New studies, however, proved that preschool programs give a child proper training for
going into an academic institution and preparing for the adult life.
Surface-Level Success
“Pre-kindergarten and early education programs are incredibly important,” said
Kenneth Dodge, director of the Duke Center for Child and Family Policy. “Especially for
parents, for business leaders… and for policy makers who are spending money on it.”
A research from North Carolina studied about 1 million students who attended early
childhood programs between the years 1995 and 2010. They discovered that children
who attended preschool or daycare had higher test scores in elementary and had
lesser chances of repeating a grade.
The Edge of Early Childhood Education
The National Institute for Early Education Research believes that preschool is a venue
for kids to socialize and think of creative solutions to problems. Children who stay at
home are less likely to adapt right away to a school setting once they are in the best
age for elementary or middle school. Children learn “soft skills” and will use them in
the transition stage from a daycare to a campus.
According to Gerald Bradshaw, an international college admission consultant,
preschoolers also learn the importance of healthy competition and academic
competence. Not only are kids inspired by one another to excel, they become open-
minded to feedback and criticism from teachers.
“There is a built-in advantage in vying for top scholastic honors at an early age,” said
Bradshaw. “The sooner they realize making mistakes is part of learning, the better.”

Spending money on something with long term success manifestations can be
frustrating for parents, but with a little patience and trust in the system, children will
be at the top of their game when they grow up.
