This is a very complete, yet concise and clear, text of anatomy. The functions of the various organs and structures are stated briefly. The text is interspersed with many drawings and diagrams, with excellent color plates of the systems at the end of the book. Important medical terminology is ex- plained and pronunciation given at appro- priate times. There is also a glossary of anatomical and physiological terms. This is an excellent review tool for the nurse who has been away from school or nursing for awhile. It is also useful as a teaching tool for teaching operating room technicians or other ancillary staff who need a basic understanding of the human body and its functions. The booklet is designed to answer questions most often asked by the general public about kidneys, artificial kidneys and transplantation. A brief section of the 18 page booklet also describes NIAMD's Artificial Kidney-Chronic Uremia Program for the development of simpler, more economical and effective artificial kidneys ond for elucidation of the metabolic aber- rations of chronic kidney failure and uremia.
