THE WEEK AHEAD
In Our Parish
June 16, 2019– Holy Trinity
Today we observe the Solemnity of the Most Blessed Trinity. We belong to the holy union of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We share in their life and overflowing love. In the Gospel, Jesus told his disciples that the Spirit of Truth will guide them throughout everything that will come. Thus, it is through the Holy Spirit that we will truly understand the mystery of the Holy Trinity. It is also through the Holy Spirit that we will truly live the mystery and the reality of the Holy Trinity in our lives. The Triune God revealed His love through the Son, Jesus, Who opened His wide arms on the cross for us and His love is continually shared with us in and through the Advocate, the Holy Spirit dwelling is us. Let us pray for those people who have taught us about the love of the Triune God, especially our parents. As we celebrate Father’s Day weekend, we honor and thank all fathers who have loved us unconditionally like the Holy Trinity. Let us then ask the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to
continue to guide and protect our families, our community,
our country and the whole world. Amen.

www.rotundasoftware.com/ministry/SOS JOIN US FOR EUCHARISTIC
ADORATION AT STAR OF THE SEA ON AUGUST 1st
FROM 8:30AM UNTIL 3:00PM Why Eucharistic Adoration? The Catechism quotes St. Pope John Paul II: “The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease.” (CCC1380)
Every vocation in the Church comes from and through Christ Jesus. It is He who calls. Spending time in Eucharistic Adoration with our Divine Lord is a good place to go to ask what He wants with our life. Why not spend some time each month in adoration, in union, in contemplation of the Lord present in the Eucharist?
Spending time with Jesus in adoration should not strike us as unusual. It is really a very natural human activity. When two people love each other, they want to spend time together to visit, to get to know each other better. You cannot love someone you do not know. Adoration of our Lord in the Eucharist is your chance to know Jesus better.
Christ is truly and substantially present in the Eucharist – Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. Let our adoration never cease.
Please prayerfully consider joining the parish Eucharistic Adoration team – contact Dick and Sue Meeker at 757-228-7775 or [email protected] Readings for the Week of June 17th-23rd

Toilet Paper
Any Shampoo or Conditioner samples (that you may come across while vacationing)
Gently used backpacks
Soup Kitchen: Our Soup Kitchen Ministry volunteers will serve dinner on June 19th at Judeo Christian Outreach Center. We look forward to making a delicious meal for our parish community’s needy and homeless at JCOC, and enjoy an evening of service and fellowship! This ministry joins other churches and Hampton Roads organizations to take turns to cover 365 days of dinners and help the needy individuals who visit JCOC for the 6pm evening meal service. Sweet Blessings: This special ministry shows our gratitude to public servants and emergency workers in our local community by sending them a sweet treat or dessert as a token of our appreciation for their important and lifesaving work. The Sweet Blessings ministry also brings flowers to nursing homes and care centers to bring joy to residents.
The following is a highlight from one of our Sweet Blessing volunteers: “What a joy it is to bring ‘Sweet Blessings’ to the nurses and staff in our area hospitals! Sugar Plum Bakery blesses us with delicious cakes and in return, we bless the hospital staff with a “sweet blessing”. We thank them for all they do to support our community and parishioners. Every time I leave the hospitals, I feel such joy and blessings to see their faces light-up to know someone appreciates what they’re doing! It brings a sense of peace to a hectic, frustrating and rewarding profession! Please consider joining this wonderful ministry! It doesn’t cost anything but your time. You will be blessed trifold!”
Peace & Justice: Pray the Rosary and pray for peace! Always know that our Heavenly Father loves all of us! Today we note the feast day of the Most Holy Trinity or Trinity Sunday, which is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost and also Father’s Day!

The Most Holy Trinity honours the symbolic nature of the Trinity--- which is God, the Father; Jesus, the Son; and the Holy Spirit. God is three Persons in one nature. There is only one God, and the three Persons of God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—are all equally God, and they cannot be divided. Whenever we make the Sign of the Cross, we are highlighting the Most Holy Trinity and we put our most basic Catholic prayer into action with the words, “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.” And yet, because we make the Sign of the Cross so often, we may be tempted to rush through it, to say the words without listening to them, to ignore the profound symbolism of the Most Holy Trinity and tracing the shape of the Cross—the instrument of Christ's death and our salvation—on our own bodies. With each Sign of the Cross, may we remember how much God loves us and that the Most Holy Trinity profoundly connects us to our faith.
Thank you God for everything a best wishes to all fathers on this special day!
HAPPY
FATHER’S
DAY!
Migrant Ministry: Greetings everyone, it is Migrant Ministry time again. We had a very short season last year due to weather, so we are off to a good start with supplies from last year. Due to space issues, we do not currently need clothes. I would ask for donations of toilet paper, sheets, towels, toiletries, white socks and t-shirts. Powdered laundry soap and bug spray is always in high demand as well. If you would be interested in volunteering to drive please let me know, Isabel Valentini (757)406-1453. As always please keep the workers in your prayers during these hot summer days. Thank you!
