ST. JOHN THE EVANGELISTADULT FAITH FORMATION

Look for future bulletin announcements regarding our 26 week voyage to Christ our King. Three small groups will be forming. Our kick-off will begin on Christ the King Sunday, November 24th, follow-ing the 11:30 AM Mass. All are welcome on this journey as we encounter Christ like never before!

A SEMINARIAN JOURNEY/PRIESTLY FORMATION(WWW.STCHARLESSEMINARYAPPEAL.ORG)

There are four dimensions of priestly formation that guide the de-velopment of the candidate toward Priesthood. They are the hu-man, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral dimensions.

“During my second year of college, I took a leap of faith and trans-ferred to St. Charles. At the seminary, I found there is a huge sense of community. We really push one another; we share similar struggles; but most importantly, we share our love of Jesus Christ. The seminary became my home. The Mass is everything to me; it is the most intimate way that we can be with Jesus. St. Charles is focused on forming men to be holy priests. The priests who are formed here are provided with an amazing gift to give to other people. When you support the Seminary Appeal you make all of this possible.” Rev. Mr. August Taglianetti

“A catechist is a person of faith, hope and love attached to arms and legs with aches, and pains, family duties and not enough time. A catechist is an ordinary person who is extraordinary be-cause he or she teaches as Jesus did. A catechist is faithful to the past, open to the future, but especially dedicated to deepening the faith of the present generation.” A catechist at St. John the Evangelist is one who follows the guidelines as set forth by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia adding their creativity, knowledge and personality to each lesson.

Our dedicated catechists number about 25. The classes are in full swing and each catechist is willing to make the effort to plan and present the Archdiocesan curriculum appropriate for each grade level. We are presently well staffed but there is always room for more catechists or volunteers. At this time, a few more PREP substitutes would be appreciated. When you enter the classroom, lesson plans are provided for you. So if you feel that your talents can be shared with the students while spreading the Good News of the Gospel, then the PREP family welcomes you.

If you are in 6th 7th, or 8thgrade, join us for our annual Jr. CYO Retreat! The Jr. CYO Retreat is a fun day here at St. John’s that begins with team activities and games led by our high school retreat team and finished with 4:00 PM Mass, a slideshow, and pizza for fami-lies. We spend the day learn-ing more about ourselves, oth-ers, and God, while having fun doing it! We will serve lunch, snacks, and dinner on the re-treat day. Please let us know if you have any food allergies! You are most welcome to come for the entire day, or part of it.
