Dear Friends, On Palm Sunday evening, March 25th, almost thirty members of our Parish participated in our first annual “Living Stations” presentation. Over one hundred parishioners and friends joined us for the beautiful presentation. For those who were able to join us, it was a fitting way to enter into our Holy Week observances. Hopefully, as this tradition grows in our Parish each year, many parishioners and friends will join us! For those who were not able to join us, I have included several pictures from the presenta-tion. Many thanks to Walt Burek for sharing his pictures with our Parish. Through the intercession of Saint John the Evangelist, may we be living examples of the gospel that he has handed onto us! Fr. O’Sullivan

Liturgically Speaking - Called to Serve Happy Easter! As we continue to enjoy this beautiful Easter Season I thought this might be a good time to begin to look at some of the specific roles and ministries that are important in the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy. Over the years we have no doubt experienced changes, adjustments, or “tweaks” made in the various liturgical roles of lector, altar server, cantor, choir, usher (greeter), and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. All of us, by reason of our Baptism, are called to participate in these functions but, of course, much depends on our own God-given gifts, abilities, and availability. If one struggles with matching pitches then that person is most likely not going to consider being a cantor. Someone becoming a lector would recognize that to impart Scripture requires not a dramatic presentation but a clear, careful, and reverent rendering of the Word of God. Here at St. John’s we are always eager and happy to welcome newcomers to the various liturgical roles. In fact, we hope that many more parishioners will consider offering to serve in one or more ministries. Over the next few weeks this liturgi-cal column will review the various roles of lector, cantor, choir member, altar server, usher (greeter), and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Please take some time to think about how you might be called to serve in one or more of these ministries. Take your thoughts and concerns to prayer and ask God what HIS plan is for you. Speak with Father O’Sullivan or Sister Mar-ganne who will readily assist and guide you in your discernment. Even if you do not at this time feel called to one of these liturgical roles, you might know someone in the parish who you believe would make a fine cantor, a good lector, or a dutiful usher. Invite them to think about it! Finally, please take a little time to read these weekly Liturgically Speaking columns or view the podcasts online. Being liturgically informed and updated is the primary reason we offer this column. Questions or ideas for topics are always welcomed as well. Happy Easter and God bless you!

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK

The year is winding down but the exciting work is happening each and every week thanks to the dedication and preparation of the teachers. At this time, I want to thank all parishioners who spend time reading these articles and who have told me numerous times how much they enjoy learning what occurs in the PREP program. The wonderful work that is being done in the classrooms and in the parish at large speaks for itself. And how blessed I am to share this mission with so many others. We are always in need of volunteers to add to the 40 plus that already are involved in the PREP program. Give us whatever time you can, as often as you can, and I will put your talents and time to good use. The last day for PREP will be May 6 or May 7, 2018.

UPCOMING CATHOLIC SCHOOL OPEN HOUSES

SAINT ANDREW CATHOLIC SCHOOLAND PRESCHOOL

We are having an Open House on Thursday May 3, 2018 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. This is an ideal time to visit Saint Andrew Catholic School and Preschool. Guided tours will take guests throughout the school building presenting all the extraordinary programs available to students. Pre-school children must be either 3 or 4 years old by September 1st. For the 2018-2019 school year we are adding 2 new full day programs to our 3year old class. We will now offer a 3 Full Day or a 5 Full day program. Kindergarten children must be 5 years old by September 1st.

April Food DriveThe monthly food collection for those needing help in our Lower Bucks community will be taken up this weekend, April 14th and 15th, at all Masses. We rely on your consistent generosity to help others whose numbers never seem to go down whether the economy is going up or going down. The volunteers at Mary's Cupboard also deeply appreciate your ardent support. God Bless!

Saint John the Evangelist will support mothers and babies through the Baby Bottles for Life Fundraiser for the Legacy of Life Foundation. On April 28th and 29th everyone will have the opportunity to take a bottle to fill with spare change and help change a life! Please bring your filled bottle back to church by the weekend of May 5th and 6th and place it in the bassinets in the vestibule. Your generosity is appreciate!

• Legacy of Life Foundation funds two crisis pregnancy cen-ters in Bucks County and Philadelphia that serve over 500 families in Pennsylvania and New Jersey who cannot pro-vide for simple baby supplies for their children. Many of the women who come through our doors believe they have no choice but abortion. They may feel scared, alone, and totally overwhelmed, not sure what to do, and may have no one to talk to. The centers provide free services such as pregnancy testing, counseling, ultrasounds, and advocacy, as well as material and financial support for women so that they can receive the truth about their choice and be freed from fear. Our support does not stop there! We provide support and advocacy for women for the 9 months of preg-nancy, and for at least three years after their babies are born.

• Since we opened our doors 9 years ago, over 1,600 wom-en and babies were saved from abortion at our centers. In 2016, 424 women chose life at our centers, 420 have chosen life in 2017 and 57 chose life so far in 2018! THANK YOU for your prayerful support!

• We are asking that you take a bottle home and fill it with coins, cash or checks, then bring it back when you come to church by the weekend of May 6th. Volunteers will be available to answer any questions. Checks should be made payable to Legacy of Life Foundation. Thank you for your support!
