FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - JULY 9, 2017
Dear Parishioners and Friends:
Seismic Update
The City of San Francisco required an evalua on of all private schools for compliance with SF Building Code, Sec. 2428, AB-109. As you can see, the modifica ons are in progress. St. Thomas and St. Monica need to a ach the roof structure to the perimeter walls, strengthen the roof diaphragm, and strengthen the
perimeter sheer walls. St. Monica also took on the construc on of an upgraded science room. The contractors’ costs came in 25-30% higher than originally budgeted. The costs for each school are: St. Monica: 1.9 million and St. Thomas: 1.7 million.
I want to thank each of you who have generously contributed and made pledges to our Capital Campaign for this project. May we con nue the legacy of Catholic educa on in our parish for years to come.
Sincerely yours, Fr. John Sakowski
Reflec on on the Gospel
“Come to me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Today’s Gospel is a font of comfort and strength. In Jesus’ me plow animals always worked in pairs. The yokes were specially fi ed to each animal to ease their burden so that they could work together
more easily and share the load. So when Jesus says to take up His yoke, He is offering to share our load as a partner on the journey. Jesus alone has the boundless love, mercy and compassion to help us carry our crosses. May we turn to our gracious and merciful God to help us find rest in the Lord whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light.
