TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS - St. Monica - Fr. Bill Young celebrates a tradi onal La n Mass, Monday through Saturday at 12:00 Noon at St. Monica. All are welcome!

MINISTRY TO THE HOMEBOUND - Please call the Parish Office if you or someone you know is ill, facing surgery or in the hospital and would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick and Holy Eucharist. Addi onally, call the office if you would like to be added to our prayer list in the bulle n.

Reflec on In today’s Gospel, Jesus rede-fines “family.” For Jesus, family consists of whoever does the will of God. Jesus challenges the kindred system in order to establish a family system based on devo on to God. Those who listen to Jesus are his followers and are his new family, the family of God. Jesus is declaring a deeper bond between people of faith. As people on a faith path, this Gospel reading gives us direc on and encouragement. Because each of our lives impact one another’s life. It is both a challenge and a comfort to be part of the family of God.

This week, we pray: Loving God, we are your family. We stand by one another in good mes and bad

mes, in sickness and in health, in disappointment and in joy. Help us to grow in love for one another as together we follow Jesus. Amen.

Dear Parishioners, This Sunday, we begin Ordinary Time – a thirty-three week journey in our life and in our journey of faith. In the midst of this season of “ordinary me,” we see again how our lives are ordinary, based on the common

elements of search, ques on, weakness, failure, blessing, growth-- shared by everyone. What binds us together as a parish community of believers and searchers is the effort to seek out and to do the will of God. That is the assurance Jesus gives us today, that because we seek to follow God, we are his people called to grow in love. I will be leaving on Friday, June 1 for Jerusalem and a variety of places in the Holy Land. You will con nue to be remembered in my prayers. I plan to return to the parish on July 9th. May God bless you and your family. Sincerely yours, Father John Sakowski

ARCHDIOCESAN HOLY HOUR OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD - SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 3:00 – 4:00 PM On June 10, Catholics throughout the Archdiocese are asked to join in prayer for voca ons to the priesthood in this Archdiocese. One church in each of the three coun es of the Archdiocese will be the site for a holy hour of prayer. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone will preside at the hour of prayer in San Francisco at St. Cecilia Church, 2555 - 17th Ave., San Francisco. The other sites are: St. Ma hew, 1 Notre Dame Avenue, San Mateo and St. Isabella, 1 Trinity Way San Rafael. Early June is the me when the ordina on of new priests would normally take place. As we have no such ordina on this year, we will take this opportunity to beseech God to send us holy men to serve his people. If you cannot be present at one of the three churches, please join in the prayer in spirit, wherever you are. The Archdiocese of San Francisco Office of Voca ons has informa on and resources at its website, sfarchdiocese.org/events or at sfpriest.org.

June 14: Flag Day - Commemorates the adop on of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14, 1777, by resolu on of the Second Con nental Congress. In 1949, Congress finally approved and President Harry Truman signed the na onal observance of Flag Day on June 14 into law. “It is our custom to observe June 14 each year with ceremonies designed not only to commemorate the birth of our flag but also to rededicate ourselves to the ideals for which it stands,” Truman said in his proclama on. “This be-loved emblem, which flies above all our people of whatever creed or race, signalizes our respect for human rights and the protec on such rights are afforded under our form of government.”
