In 1996 the Modern Vespa prototype was launched with an air-cooled 50cc 2 stroke engine. the 1997 version had an engine with fuel injection. From 2000 on it was also available as a 4 stroker.

In 2005 the LX superseded the Et series, equipped with bigger 11 wheels and modern 2- or 4-valve 4-stroke engines (Hi Per 50cc and L.E.A.D.E.r. 125-150cc). From 2012 on a new Euro3 3-valve engine (L.E.M. = Low EMission) has been used, re-cognizable by its angular horn cover insert. In roman numbers LX means 60 and in 2006 the Vespa celebrated its 60th birth-day. the special model LXV thus evokes the original design of the 60s models with single saddle. V stands for Vintage. While Piaggio saved on the 50cc models here and does not deliver them with a painted footwell, the 125cc models come with a complete paintjob. Since 2012 also a slimmed down version has been available in India. It costs 800 US $ and comes with a drum brake in the front and 10 wheels. Being the most popular model in Asia, often times the LX is the one and only available Modern Vespa there.

2003 - 2005VESPA GT

Encouraged by the success of the Et models, in 2003 the Gran turismo series is launched with 125cc and 200cc models. It stands out through its high suitability for daily use and its modern L.E.A.D.E.r. engines. As standard it is equipped with a luggage rack and a round rear light.

Also the Et4 was launched in 1996. With these new models (available in 125cc and 150cc) 2 stroke engines were rigorously dismissed. Until 1999 Piaggio had still produced Euro1 engines, from 2000 on Euro2 L.E.A.D.E.r. (Low Emission Advanced Engine range) engines. the new models do no longer have a kick starter. As 4 is considered an unlucky number in Asia, the model is called Et8 there.

In 2008 the top model Vespa GtS 300 Super was launched with 278cc, tinted headlamp, analog instruments, no luggage carrier and seat with white welt. the Super Sport comes with mat paint, black rims, modifi ed decoration set Super, red shock absorber springs and a sport seat.

At the EICMA Milan 2011 Vespa introduced their fi rst prototype of the 946 (In Italian nuova Quarantasei the new 46) remi-niscent of the fi rst Vespa MP, built in 1946. In 2012 Vespa announced that the model would go into production, in the summer of 2013 the fi rst models were shipped. op-tional features: LED headlights, up to date 125cc or 150cc 3-valve LEM engines, ABS.

In 2009 the 125cc version of the Super followed en suite. While it looks exactly like the 300cc model, it has a less powerful engine. the Super Sport comes with mat paint, black rims, modifi ed decoration set Super, red shock absorber springs and a sport seat.

S as in Speciale: A tribute to the Vespa 50 Special of the 70s and 80s with square headlamp, sport seat and retro instruments. Its engine and technology equal the LX series. With the S Piaggio continually offers special models, such as College (with blue or red body parts/seat and an additional fl yscreen). Sport models come with a mat black paint, black rims, modifi ed checkered decoration set and a sport seat.

In 2005 the Gt was updated with new QUA.S.A.r. (QUArterliter Smooth Aug-mented range) engines, slots in the right sidepanel, protruding rear light, additional sidelight and modifi cations to some other details. Models equipped with QUA.S.A.r. engines carry the abbreviation i.e.. In Asia, the GtS is only available in a few countries, so imports often times cost more than 10.000 US $.

VESPA GT60

to celebrate the 60th birthday of the Vespa, the special model GtV (based on the GtS 250 i.e.) is launched. this jubilee model is characterised by two single seats covered in fi ne leather and carries its headlamp on the fender, just like the original Fenderlight models did in the 40s. A little later also a 300cc version and special models such as the Vespa GtV 300 i.e. Via Montenapoleone or Vespa GtV 300 i.e. Via della Moda (na-med after boulevards in Milan) are available.

Limited to 999 pieces, the Gt 60 is a very exclusive version on the Vespa GtV. only the best dealers received one or two of them, which were sold in no time. the 60 is available in only one colour (code 786/a): the same grey that was used for the fi rst Piaggio prototype. the Gt 60 mo-dels are equipped with a genuine leather seat, chromed rims and a plate with the name of the original purchaser and some other thoughtful details. the number 873 offi cially belongs to SIP Scootershop and is displayed in our shop in Landsberg. The chrome accessories available in PIAGGIOs own range stand out with the excellent quality of the chrome plating itself. A very high quality, perfect surface finishing and exact dimensioning, guarantee a perfect fit. A complicated brazing process eliminates the weld seam (see close-up photo). All of their chrome accessories possess a decently engraved PIAGGIO logo (see close-up photo), which makes the original easy to spot.

The products manufactured by FA ItAlIA are most definitely Made in Italy. Their range of chrome accessories is heavily based upon the design of the OE PIAGGIO items, at considerably lower prices, with no loss of production or chrome plating quality. The weld seams are tidy, accurate and all items have an engraved FA Italia logo on display to make their origin beyond doubt. FA Italia are one of the first manufacturers to be able to offer their complete range in a lovely shade of black which adds an especially sporting touch in combination with the current OE blue, white or orange paintjobs.

FACO Chrome+ and Gold Plated accessories MADE IN ITALY! The name Chrome+ guarantees an extensive multiple phase finishing process. The components material is first brushed to ensure a solid plating base. The visible chrome surfacing is based upon two layers of nickel for added brilliance. The parts are precisely dimensioned and finished.

The most reasonably priced chrome accessories for the Modern Vespa models comes from CUPPINI. The large dimensions of their front and rear luggage carrier/rack and the stability of their crash-bars ensure a high practicality in everyday use. The chrome plating isnt that shiny but this can be quickly remedied with SONAX chrome polish (part no 1422000) to bring out its true potential.

luggage Carriers are the perfect accompaniment for short and long tours. Whether on your way to school or on a road trip to Sicily you need to upgrade your storage area. If youre on the road with lots of luggage, weight distribution is critical for a safe trip. Overloaded luggage carriers, both front and rear, have a negative influence on how your scooter handles. A suitable sport chassis suspension is a real help here. All carriers are supplied with mounting material!

Front Carriers are attached by either being hung over the legshields or being bolted to them, according to model (see product details). The greater the distance between the load area and the bottom of the headlight, the larger the space for luggage will be without blocking its beam. A maximum of 8 Kg can be carried.

Rear Carriers are attached using the seat bolt thread. The grab rail is usually made redundant, as the pillion can now hold on to the carrier itself.

Crash Bars and Bumpers are the ideal insurance to protect your scoot from scratches and dents. Everyone knows what can happen during a moment of inattention, during parking or a hard landing: thats when you wish you had sturdy protection. Personal injuries can be kept to a minimum, but what about having to fix up deep scratches in the original colour? Hard job and expensive. Rear crash bars that are solidly bolted to the frame (see product details) help protect the side panels against damage, even during heavy spills.

The fit is perfect! They do not need any modification to attach them properly at all, I just added a couple of rubber pads to protect the paintwork! They do not rust either, if you take care of them properly.

Luckily, PIAGGIO also produce their own water resistant Top Cases to match the colours of the scooters they manufacture. We have them available to fit the Vespa LX/LXV/S 50-150cc models (32 L volume) and also for the Vespa GTS/GTS Super/GTV/GT 60/GT/GT L Vespa models (42 L volume). For the secure attachment of any top case either a fixed rack or a folding carrier will have to be mounted. All of these top cases possess rear facing reflectors and the original Vespa logo incorporated into their design along with a reliable locking system including two keys. These particular designs also accept either an open or a full face helmet.

A Back Rest attached to the top case improves pillion comfort immensely. Regrettably they are not included with all top cases. To solve this deficiency, we have the oe PIAGGIo items available in all styles and colours. Holes need to be drilled in the top case to fasten these back rests (drilling stencil and fastenings included).

trevor woolfson, the head of Vespa south africa in Johan-nesburg, was fed-up. stuck in the same traffi c every mor-ning while bringing his kids to school and himself to work in his car. in this case his scooter provided no alternative because it could not carry two pillion passengers safely.

but hold on, that is something nobody tried yet, right? trevor got busy. he cannibalised 3 separate Gts 250s to realise his vision. he welded and constructed like a man possessed, extending the wiring harness, brake hydraulics and the cylinder cooling system, reinforcing the suspension etc. and fi nally it had become real: the Vespa Limousine!

the handling is a little wobbly up to about 30 kph, but from the-re on up its great fun! trevor uses his Limo almost every mor-ning, and no, this scoot is remaining as a one-off project. sadly perhaps, he has no intention of putting them into production. and what do the local constabulary have to say? well, fi rst of all theyll have to defi ne the category this unique vehicle belongs to!

For many Vespisti, the feeling of fresh air in the face while riding is what makes scootering special. For

all-season riders however, a flyscreen or windshield becomes an essential extra. According to their overall

height, they protect the rider and their clothing from wind and weather and also provide more efficient

aerodynamics. We have flyscreens and windshields available produced by FACO, eRMAX, PIAGGIO, MALOSSI,

CUPPINI and ISOTTA. The majority of these items are manufactured using a 4mm thick, scratch and impact

resistant, transparent acrylic material.


A Flyscreen (max height 215mm) represents an ideal compromise between the style and function of your Vespa and has been a design feature since the late 1970s. Riding with a flyscreen is much more pleasant and comfortable than without, especially in bad weather. The altered aerodynamics improve the airflow, your upper body is no longer fully exposed to the wind-stream and turbulence is reduced, too. All this adds up to a noticeably more relaxed riding experience.

A Medium-Sized windshield (max height 420mm) provides effective protection from wind and weather for the upper body and the hands of the rider. one of the most positive effects of a medium-sized windshield are the much improved aerodynamics which lead to less wind-noise and turbulence at head-level and also to a slightly higher top-speed!

We measure the screens, as they are attached to the scooter, from the top of the headlamp assembly to the upper edge of the screen and the maximum width.

A Full-Sized Windshield (min height 530mm) defends the whole of the upper body, head and hands against the effects of the cold, snow, rain, road-dirt and traffic-splash. These screens are especially indispensable in wintry conditions as they completely divert the windstream up and around the body and head of the rider. Also useful while travelling at motorway speeds.

The windshields and screens are delivered with all necessary fixings. Registry documentation is included, too. All PIAGGIo flyscreens and windshields have a european approval for legal road use with their respective model of Vespa. Proof of this can be found right on the screen.
