Our Commitment towards Eradication of Avoidable Blindness

Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust (SSSST) and Help Me See, Inc. partnership started in November 2011. The

partnership aimed towards reducing avoidable blindness with evidence based approach. The guiding

philosophy for the partnership is to reach the poorest of the poor in remote rural areas, with best quality of

patient care, surgery and 100% follow-up services.

Major achievements of the partnership:

Since inception of the project SSSST has performed over 60,000 Cataract Surgery.

surgeries and 342 Peadiatric Cataract surgeries were done with the support of Help Me See.

Earlier follow-up rate for cataract surgery was around 75% and with this initiative SSSST has

strengthened its follow-up counseling and methods that resulted in achieving 90% follow-up rate.

To monitor the clinical and surgical care standard protocols are in place for patient examination,

inpatient care and to ensure surgical quality.

A separate cloud based database is managed to record each patient‟s profile, pre-surgery, post-

surgery and follow-up details.

With the generous support of Help Me See, Inc. SSSST has successfully implemented Cataract

Backlog Free Zone in Chitrakoot District.

To provide advanced technological solutions in reaching the poorest of the poor the partnership

aims to use GIS/GPS mobile technology in remote rural villages.
