DAY 1 – Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

DAY 2 – Thematic Tour to Furnas (jeep or van + soft walking tour).

Pick up at the hotel at 9:00am. Drop off at the hotel around 4.30pm. “Cozido” lunch included.

FURNAS THEMATIC TOUR

Today we are going to feel and experience the volcanic origins of the Island in Furnas, a magical place. We start visiting the Caldeiras da Lagoa das Furnas (Furnas Lake Calderas), a place where we cook the famous “cozido das Furnas” (a very special meal cooked only with the steam of the Earth) and continue with a soft walking crossing a stream and circling the lakeside where we will have the opportunity to appreciate a variety of endemic flora species. Then we visit the town of Furnas, with its fumaroles, hot springs with different tastes.

Cozido meal is served in a local restaurant. Afterwards we visit the centenary Terra Nostra botanical garden known by its extraordinary collection of native plants for the Azores and others from all over the world that adapted to the local garden conditions. At the end of the visit people are invited to bathe in the ironed hot water swimming pool at the temperature of 35/40ºC, an exquisite experience!

On the way back to Ponta Delgada we stop in several beautiful view points on the North Coast and also at the only tea plantation in Europe where we will be able to visit the tea factory laboring and have a lovely break to taste the tea.

DAY 3 – Whale Watching 3 hour Trip + Vila Franca Islet Tour. Pick up at the hotel at 8.30am. Drop off at the hotel around 5.30pm. Lunch included.

WHALE WATCHING + VISIT TO VILA FRANCA ISLET a)




On this activity you will have the opportunity to watch some of more than 20 cetacean species that can be found in the Azores.

Before the boat trip we present a briefing to explain the cetaceans species that can be observed, safety measures on board, procedures of protection of species at sea and some historical facts. On board each passenger is required to wear a life vest (except on the catamaran boat). Futurismo also provides rain coats and trousers if necessary. After a 3h trip we stop in Vila Franca do Campo to have lunch. Then we take a typical boat and head to Vila Franca do Campo islet, a volcanic crater in the sea that forms a huge natural lagoon, considered a Natural Reserve. On the islet we offer a guided tour and you will have time to swim and snorkel in the giant lagoon. Trip back to Ponta Delgada by boat or van, where we will be arriving around 17h00. Drop of at the hotel. Lunch included.

DAY 4 –Sete Cidades Adventure Tour (bike tour + canoeing + swimming). Pick up at the hotel at 9am. Drop off at the hotel around 4.30pm. Pic nic lunch included.

SETE CIDADES ADVENTURE TOUR

Let’s explore the West side of São Miguel. Sete Cidades lake is one of the most famous and legendary lakes of the island. We will have time to visit the bottom of the crater riding a bike and canoeing in the amazing lake of Sete Cidades. You will have the opportunity to learn about the fauna, flora, History, volcanic formation of the island, and of course, you will hear the




legendary love story behind the formation of the lake. Today we are having lots of fun, cycling around the lake, paddling in the crystal waters of the lake that covers the bottom of this awesome volcanic crater. After lunch we will drive along the south coast and pass in Ferraria, a wonderful bathing area created by a small crater that forms a natural swimming pool at sea warmed by a volcanic crack when the tide is low. Drop off at the hotel around 5.00pm. Pic nic lunch included.

DAY 5 – Swimming with dolphins (2.5 hour trip) + lunch + Jeep Safari Fogo Lake. Pick up at the hotel at 8.30am. Drop off at the hotel around 4.30pm. Lunch included.

SWIMMING WITH DOLPHINS

Entering the water provided with a mask and snorkel you get surrounded by blue water and as the dolphins joyfully glide by you can watch them as well as hear them. An amazing experience!

JEEP SAFARI FOGO

After the trip we will have lunch in a local restaurant. Then we depart for an amazing tour where we will enjoy nature at its best in the natural reserve of Fogo, an amazing blue lake in a volcanic crater. The lake is one of the most beautiful in São Miguel island and one of the best naturally preserved throughout the years. After the stop in the belvedere, we drive you to




Caldeira Velha (warm ironed waterfall with a dip possibility), a typical liquor factory and Ribeira Grande.

Day 6 – Nordeste Van or Jeep Safari. Pick up at the hotel at 9am. Drop off at the hotel around 4.30pm. Lunch in a local restaurant included.

NORDESTE JEEP OR VAN TRIP

In the Eastern most part of the island, Nordeste is considered the most beautiful council in the island and it was already considered the most bloomed in Europe.

Our first stop is well worth in the viewpoint of Salto do Cavalo Peak, with astonishing and wide views over Povoação, the first place to be settled in the island, and its extension till the sea coast.

We continue our trip to the Priolo Environmental Center to visit the interactive exposition that allows the visitor to knowledge about Serra da Tronqueira, its fauna and flora, and more specifically about the Priolo bird - Scientific name: Pyrrhula murina endemic to São Miguel Island in the Azores. Next to the center we can also visit the Endemics’ Garden.

Then we go down to Nordeste town and have lunch in a local restaurant. On the way back to Ponta Delgada we will stop in wonderful viewpoints over the coast and Povoação.

Day 7 - Departure – Transfer to the airport

Lunch in a local restaurant days 3 and 5 and 6 (starter, dish, dessert and drinks)

Cozido lunch day 2 – starter, Cozido, dessert and drinks included. Cozido contains: beef,

chicken, pork, spicy sausage, blood sausage, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrot, cabbage, green

kale. All cooked during 6 hours with natural steam only.

Visit to Oficina Museu + visit to the Pineapple Plantations half day

After lunch we begin our tour in Oficina Museu in Capelas. We will go back to the past and enter in Ponta Delgada in the 40’s and 50’s. You will learn about the habits of the Azorean way of living and culture and how it was developed throughout the years and can even see the local artisans manufacturing some works. Then we will visit the pineapple plantations. Did you know that this exotic fruit it takes two years before it’s ready to be served on your table?

Clothing: comfortable light clothes, sweater, raincoat, walking boots or shoes, swimming suit and towel, hat, sunblock, backpack.
