No organization can run in long term without effi cient manpower. Organization needs a team of capable employees not only for the daily operation but also for the organizational development. If the employees are not so effi cient, Organization should make them capable through different types of programs for the development of their performances.

Buddha Air has decided to promote the employees working at lower band if they are capable for the required posts. Buddha Air has recently promoted nine employees from attendant band working as loader and offi ce boy to support band as an offi ce assistant. The requirements for the post were 2 years experience for intermediate level and 5 years for SLC.

"We are very happy and very proud to

get this opportunity" they expressed their feelings in one voice, "We were serving buddha air as we can and now the company gave us this opportunity for the appreciation of our labor, efforts and dedications."

Upendra Kumar Majhi,, who has been promoted and transferred from city sales offi ce Hattisar to Revenue division H/O, says " I got the table work in this organization where I had been serving since 3 January 2000, as an offi ce boy. We at Buddha Air feel that Corporate Social Responsibility is the funda-mental of being involved in profi t making activities. Every entity has an obligation towards its society to make it better and Buddha Air is not exception.

When we became fi nancially ma-tured, we started to identify our segment of social responsibility and thought that we need to focus on bringing some eco-nomic change in the rural mass, which constitutes of 85% of the population based on agricultural economy. We did not want to dole out some cash for petty donations, which tends to make people more dependent .

We started an agricultural extension program in Tankisunwari VDC of Morang to gain confi dence of the local small scale farmers. We are able to increase the pro-duction output by simply exposing the farmers to appropriate fertilizer manage-ment, required technology transfer and

duced product banking for the farmers who were organized in this cooperative (which has been registered as per the co-operative act). The cooperative charges an interest of 12% per annum and pro-vides loan to the farmers at the begin-ning of plantation for requirements such as seeds and fertilizers . The farmers bank their harvest with the cooperative and will sell them when they get the best price, which is about 4-5 months after harvest.

We have already concluded a suc-cessful season of product banking for paddy last year, where a farmer gained almost 2 times taking into consideration the higher yield, saving an interest of the loan and better price of their product.

Now, we are planning to support this cooperative but lobbying for funds for the product banking, which will cover the two Village Development Committee where this program is implemented.

Our responsibility is to break this vicious chain and get the farmers the best price of their product

provision of good seeds. Once we gained the confi dence of

the farmers, we were able to convince them to form a cooperative so that they can continue this work as well as intro-duce product banking. The fundamental problem of our farmers is; they are not getting the right price for their product because the middlemen are very active in this fi eld and they have the gullible farm-ers in their account by providing loans at an astronomous interest rate that could go up to 60% per anum.

Our responsibility is to break this vicious chain and get the farmers the best price of their product, so we intro-

due to mechanical failures and pilots not following to the prescribed fl ying procedures according to the aircraft Flight Manuals. The weekly reports generated by ADAS and FDR automatically fi nds if any pilot is not operating as per the manuals if any, which is immediately corrected by the Flight Safety Division of Buddha Air. All our pilots are operating as per the manuals due to these checks. The engineers are also made aware at an early stage if there are anyof malfunctions in the aircraft components; specially the engines, which they can rectify immediately insuring safe fl ights.

ADAS: This unit performs following primary functions:

(a) Exceedance Event Recording: The ADAS can monitor criti-cal engine parameters and record instances where they have exceeded preset values (exceedances).

(b) Engine Trend Monitoring: The ADAS can gather and store engine data samples for trend analysis.

(c) Cockpit Indication: The ADAS can be confi gured to warn the pilot of a prior exceedance on start up or shutdown, and provide system self-test indication.

We download the ADAS data regularly and analyze them every week using Turbine Tracker Software developed by AL-TAIR, the manufacturer of ADAS systems. We make exceedance report based upon the FLIGHT MANUAL and send it to FLIGHT SAFETY Division of Buddha Air for required action. FLIGHT SAFETY Division then takes necessary action or suggests that involved fl ight crew so that such exceedance will not be re-peated in the future.

FDR: This unit is a part of what we called the BLACKBOX. This

unit continuously records more than 18 different engines and
