Make the husband – wife relationship the priority in marriage
Give a Blessing instead of an Insult

The Drip: This woman, through her words and countenance is a constant reminder that she is not happy with him
The Professor: This woman thinks, “If only he would listen to me, I could solve his problems.”

The Bitter Woman: This woman is a gossip and a complainer and brings shame to her husband by her indiscriminate speech
The Respectful wife : Her husband feels emotionally safe with her and feels respected

Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, [2] when they see your respectful and pure conduct. [3] Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear
![Page 8: Sermon INTRODUCTION Home Grown Resolutions 1 Peter 3:1-6](https://reader035.vdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022070403/56649f2e5503460f94c48501/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
4] but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. [5] For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands,

[6] as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord.
And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.
![Page 10: Sermon INTRODUCTION Home Grown Resolutions 1 Peter 3:1-6](https://reader035.vdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022070403/56649f2e5503460f94c48501/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
The deepest root of Christian womanhood IS HOPE IN God, not hope in anything or anyone in the external world.
![Page 11: Sermon INTRODUCTION Home Grown Resolutions 1 Peter 3:1-6](https://reader035.vdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022070403/56649f2e5503460f94c48501/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
HOPE IN GOD is more valuable than whatever external adornment brings.
HOPE IN GOD is more valuable than whatever not submitting brings.

Put your hope in God, not men.
It’s a unique sort of submission that isn’t patterned on the church’s submission to Christ, but rather the submission of Christ to His Father

She entrusts her soul to the God who judges righteously.
The next thing is that she respects her husband.

Scripture doesn't command couples to feel love and respect but to SHOW IT. That is the movement of faith by the power of the Holy Spirit

Biblical wisdom is that when a man believes that the heart and mind of his wife are his, he trusts in her.

“Respect Test.”
Tonight, when he is relaxed, say to him, “I was thinking of you today, of several things about you that I respect. I want you to know that I respect you.”

The Table before us calls us to remember Christ and his work on our behalf.
He is the ground of our Hope.
