With its classic cut and excellent quality, this model will suit those practi-tioners who also appreciate wearing a relatively light Dogi and also look for a top quality, "judo-type" model. The jacket is composed of a classic "Sashiko" (rice grain) weaving on the upper part, and a "Hishisashi" (diamonds) weaving on the lower part. Fully made in Japan (cotton, garment, cut and sewing), this is our best selling model. Single layer, made of soft cotton, it is very easy to wear and very durable.

This model is particularly suited for the practice of Aikido with a Hakama. The jacket is longer and therefore, it stays secured in the Hakama. The sleeves are slightly shorter and tighter compared to the traditional cut. The absence of the back seam serves to improve comfort during falls. Designed as a slim cut, it will fit all Aikidoists who think their actual Dogi is too wide. A single layer Dogi made of 100% high quality cotton, composed of a classic "Sashiko" (rice grain) weaving on the upper part, and a "Hishisashi" (diamonds) weaving on the lower part of the jacket (same fabric as used for the AS200 model.)

Particularly popular among Western practitioners, this entry product of our "heavyweight" double layer range's characteristics are compara-ble to that of a Judogi. For extra comfort, this model was designed with a seamless vertical ridge. The absence of the back seam does not only serve to improve comfort during falls, but it also makes the jacket broader.

This double layer WA600 Aikidogi has double stitching on all its seams. Ultra durable, this model is the strongest in the catalog, only equaled by its sister product, the ultra soft WA800. With an emphasis on robust-ness, this model is designed with a central vertical back seam. Although thicker, heavier and with stronger seams, this model is treated with a natural softening solution, which makes it softer than the WA300 model.

This model shares the same features as the WA600, with an additional biomass flow-through treatment developed according to the latest textile research, which prevents shrinking and confers to the fabric an unrivaled softness. Compromise is no longer necessary between weight and softness! Like the WA600 model, the Extra-Soft Aikidogi is double-stitched on all seams for maximum resistance.

This model is preshrunk, treated for antibacterial properties and benefits from the Biotech technology. This technology for the treatment of a natural cotton is exclusive to our workshop and makes it ultra soft. With double stitching and double thickness this model is the strongest in our catalog.

Made from a cotton / polyester blend fabric, this model is ultra fast drying, has maximum ventilation and is super light weight, which makes it the perfect companion for going to seminars! A special treatment also provides antibacterial and anti-mold qualities that are very valuable for any sportswear.

Designed in the same fabric as that of the "Aiki" Aikido jacket. The cotton "Hishisashi" (diamond) weaving makes it highly breath-able and evacuates heat and sweat, allowing a fast drying. The cut is classic, with a double thickness from thighs to bottom for maximum resistance.

Heavy Weight Biotech Karategi

Originally designed for the practice of Kata, this model has increased reinforcements at the sleeves and bottom of the pants. This model keeps its shape under all conditions and it is recommended to practi-tioners seeking a Karategi for its specific shape but who still enjoy a heavy garment.

This model, like our high quality Judo and Aikidogi, was treated with a special "Biotech" (natural) solution for an ultra soft touch and a shrinkage rate reduced to almost 0. The fabric of this model has a bluish tint, this is quite normal and is the hallmark of the high quality of the fabric: a heavy high range 100% Japanese cotton.

During summer, a significant number of practitioners prefer a lighter Karategi over a heavy Aikidogi. Our Karategi are made according to the "traditional" cut, with a slightly tighter fit, with "long" sleeves and pants comparable to that of an Aikidogi.They are made in the same workshop which also makes our Aikidogi. We offer three models made of 100% cotton: light, medium and heavy. Additionally, we also have a heavy model made of 100% biotech-treated cotton for a softened fabric. The Light Weight 9A and Medium Weight #11 Karategi are available as jackets and pants separately. The blueish Heavy Weight Cotton Karategi is only offered as a jacket and pants set to avoid color variations.

Seido is the only Japanese company to offer Nobakama with an Aikido finish (flexible Koshiita, 7 lines of stitching on the straps etc.).

Starting with the fabric, the Seido Hakama are 100% made in Japan, one by one carefully sewn by experienced artisans, to whom every detail matters. The Hakama are partially hand-sewn in the traditional manner and also modified to suit Aikido practice. Be it a basic Tetron Hakama, lightweight Polyester/Linen Hakama, shiny "Cashmere Touch" Hakama, traditional Indigo-Aizome Hakama or heavy cotton Hakama – all these can be adapted in diverse manners to optimize the fit and personalize your cloth, thanks to Seido's close partnership with the craftsmen.Strap length extension, wide cut with enlarged Koshiita, stitched inside pleats, hanger straps, extended lateral vents length or simply a high quality embroidery, these options can all be added.

About our Bo, Jo & Hanbo

The standard diameter of a Jo / Hanbo is 24 mm. Thicker models are obviously heavier and those with diameters of 27 mm to 30 mm are recommended for advanced practitioners.岩間流大刀 *Takemusu Bokken*Keishi Ryu Bokken

About the Wood

The wooden weapons proposed by Seido are manufactured by one of the last four traditional workshops in the south of Japan ( Miyakonojo region, Kyushu). Seido is the only company in the world (including Japan) working with these four workshops simultaneous-ly. Our weapons are selected according to the specificities of each workshop, as well as the time of manufacture and pricing.

Akagashi, the Japanese Red Oak is a tree that grows in

Southern Japan: The environment is a key factor in determin-

ing the quality of the wood. Unlike European Oak, Japanese

Oak floats in water. It is moderately hard and therefore more

resilient to shocks, making it an ideal wood for the manufac-

ture of Bokken.

The Sunuke comes from 250 to 400 year-old Isu no Ki trees.

Logging quotas established by the Japanese government

make it a rare and precious wood. With its dark brown color, the

Sunuke is a very dense and heavy wood, it sustains shocks

relatively poorly. The Sunuke weapons are particularly heavy and

are not suitable for full contact practice.

IIchii Kashi is a term used to refer to a red wood with characteris-

tics that are so close to those of Red Oak that they are often

considered the same. A little lighter than the Hon Akagashi and

almost as solid, this wood makes the perfect Bokken for

beginners or for the Dojo. The standard models of our catalog

are made of Ichii Kashi.

The White Oak of Japan is called Shirakashi. White Oak is slightly

heavier than Red Oak, a little denser, and therefore more

resistant. It is the wood essence of choice for manufacturing

excellent Bokken made for full contact practice. The White Oak

used for Seido's Bokken is rigorously selected to guarantee top

quality.

Isu no Ki literally means "wood of chairs" because it has long

been used in the manufacture of quality furniture. It is a harder

wood, hence slightly less resilient than oak, but more beautiful,

smoother, and more pleasant to the touch. The Isu no Ki comes

from the same tree as the Sunuke, but younger or taken from

the outside part of the trunk.

The Tsubaki is a tree found throughout the southern part of Japan which can reach over 500 years of age. This tree has been used since immemorial times in Japanese crafts to make various objects of everyday life. Its uniform color makes it an ideal wood for a decorative Bokken, even though they are also ideal for practice. Unlike Sunuke, Tsubaki is more flexible, resilient and therefore stronger.

The Buna is a wood growing throughout Japan. It is very popular

in the art of Bonsai for the beauty of its barks and leaves. This

wood has a very clear yellow color with darker shades, it is

pleasant to the touch, strong and very light. It is particularly

suited for children and practitioners suffering from shoulder pain.

Growing in northern Japan, Kiri originates from China and Korea.

This tree produces a wood that absorbs very little moisture, does

not conduct heat, and does not burn at high temperatures. Due

to its qualities, this wood has long been used to make furniture

and chests. Reputed to be the lightest wood in Japan, it makes

ultra-light Bokken.

Also called Tetsuboku (ironwood), purple ebony has a very

pleasant smell and a characteristic amber color and the wood

is slightly rough to the touch. It fits between Asian Sunuke and

ebony. Its density makes it a heavy wood, perfectly suited for

practicing Suburi.

The Shima Kokutan is a tree that grows mainly in South Asia and

throughout Indonesia. Only trees that are over 200 years old can

be used in the manufacture of Bokken. Shima, in Japanese,

means "striped". It gets its name because of its clearer lines

inside black ebony. Very hard and dense, it absorbs shocks

relatively poorly.

Mainly grown for its yellow fruit, the Hon Biwa is a small tree that

needs an extensive amount of time to reach 5 to 10 m, the

minimum height required to produce a Bokken. Well selected,

high quality Biwa makes the best wood possible for the Bokken

manufacture: incredibly resilient, solid, well balanced and very

pleasant to the touch.

Due to its hardness, African Ebony is very difficult to work with,

which is one of the main factors behind its expensive price. The

wood is exceptionally dense (one of the heaviest woods on

earth), strong and stiff. It is therefore perfect for Suburi Bokken but

not meant for heavy contact practice (the ebony used by

Seido's craftsmen is legally imported into Japan).

Minosaka is a small workshop located in the Gifu

prefecture, the birthplace of the Katana (Shink-

en). Despite its small size, Minosaka is one of the

most important Iaito workshops in Japan. Seido

has been proposing Minosaka Iaito for several

handmade in Japan by craftsmen also produc-
