How do you know the enhancements you have implemented are

a good fit for your target population and are meeting all of your

families’ needs? How can you adjust your service array to

SECOND PFR GRANTEE LEADERSHIP TRAINING MEETING

MAY 5 - 7, 2015

HYATT NEWPORT BEACH, CA

10:15 am – 10:30 am Morning Coffee Break

10:30 am – 11:15 am Leadership and Lessons from Collaborative Efforts

Chad Rodi, Research and Evaluation Director, Children and Family

Futures

Sid Gardner, President, Children and Family Futures

The PFR Project seeks to better understand how formal and informal

leadership in high-performing FDCs contributes to successful

program, practice and policy implementation and improved

outcomes for families. Dr. Rodi will briefly present the leadership

framework and domains that CFF developed to inform this work and

highlight preliminary findings from the PFR grantee leadership

interviews. He will discuss the early lessons, common themes, and

key leadership characteristics that appear important in the FDC

context. Mr. Gardner will then discuss strategies for building

and gaps within their collaborative and discuss opportunities for

further developing their team’s leadership capacity to achieve their

specific PFR/FDC goals.

Location for Pima: Harbor

Location for Robeson: Beach

Location for San Francisco: Surf

Location for Tompkins: Ocean

Discussion questions for team work:

Would you characterize the leadership in your site as more

“traditional” (i.e., one person leads the charge) or “collaborative”

(i.e., various team members share leadership roles and

responsibilities)?

To what extent do your team’s leaders have permission to raise

difficult subjects so the group can define and address them? Are

leaders able to help the team surface conflict rather than avoid

it?

SECOND PFR GRANTEE LEADERSHIP TRAINING MEETING

MAY 5 - 7, 2015

HYATT NEWPORT BEACH, CA

Do your partners know enough about each other’s work, clients,

funding streams, data, etc. to work across the boundaries that

might divide you? Is the level of transparency and information

exchange enough to lead collaborative change efforts?

Do leaders establish information flow that is strong enough to

enable project leaders to use results to garner resources?

Grantees will have an opportunity for peer-to-peer networking and

open discussion over lunch. There are no formal presentations
