Scripture 1 Samuel 17:24, 38-40, 48-50 (NKJV) 24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid. 38 So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. 39 David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine. 48 So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 49 Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth. 50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David. Mark 4:35-41 (NKJV) 35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” SERMON NOTES: __________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________ Our Church Schedule WEEKLY SCHEDULE Sunday 9:45 a.m. 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Opening Sunday School Worship Wednesday 8:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. Men’s Breakfast (Cagney’s) Choir Rehearsal Saturday ALL DAY 9:00 a.m. Fellowship Building Reserved Biking Group (meet at Greenway behind Marketplace Mall) COMING EVENTS Nov. 5 11:00 a.m. Christ Moravian Church Council Nov. 6 10:00 a.m. Marvelous Moravians Steering Committee Meeting (Church Office) Nov. 7 10:00 a.m. Bible Study (Church Office) Nov. 12 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Christ The Chief Elder Communion Youth Lunch and Lunch & Learn (presentation by Melinda Trevorrow on her trip to Herrnhut & other Moravian historical areas) BIRTHDAYS October 29 October 31 November 3 November 4 Della Page Mitzie Kimball Sam Dixon Casey Clayton Todd Gray Bobbie Queen SERVE USHERS GREETER NURSERY CHILDREN’S CHURCH YOUTH Kay Butner Page Crater Avis Gray Donna Tesh Debbie Jones GIVE (Last Week’s Offering) GROW (Attendance) Tithes & Offerings Lovefeast Bun Sales Memorials Choir Fund Michael Tesh Fund Sunday School $2,804.00 46.00 325.00 35.00 70.00 7.00 Worship 99 TOTAL $3,287.00 *Contributions to Michael Tesh Fund include contributions from church members, individuals, congregations and organizations that support the Ray of Hope Ministry.

Scripture

1 Samuel 17:24, 38-40, 48-50 (NKJV)

24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid.

Mark 4:35-41 (NKJV)

35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. LOOSE CHANGE OFFERING – Every 5th Sunday has been designated by the Leadership Board of Christ Moravian Church as a “loose change” offering for a special cause in our community and world. In 2017 two recipients will receive our loose change: Ray of Hope Ministry in Kenya, Africa and the Winston Salem Street School. Help support the Winston Salem Street School this Sunday, October 29th. BIKING GROUP – The Biking Group will meet on Saturday, November 4, at 9 AM at the Greenway behind Marketplace Mall. We hope you will join us for this special “Lunch and Learn.” LEADERSHIP BOARD – The LB will meet on Monday, November 13, at 7 PM in the Fellowship Building.
