Articles need to be submitted, in writing, to the Rectory by 11:00 am Friday the week before the Bulletin is printed.

Sainte Anne Parish is a faith community in the Roman Catholic tradition. We strive to live up to the motto: "We Are Family". We see ourselves as a local expression of the universal Church, the People of God, the Body of Christ. Through God's grace we seek to be welcoming and loving. Our life centers on the week-end celebration of the Eucharist. We meet Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and are then challenged to bring

His love to others.

O glorious St. Ann, you are filled with compas-sion for those who invoke you and with love for those who suffer! Heavily burdened with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of you to take the present inten-tion which I recommend to you in your special care.

Please recommend it to your daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and place it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it to a happy issue. Continue to intercede for me until my request is granted. But, above all, obtain for me the grace one day to see my God face to face, and with you and Mary and all the saints to praise and bless Him for all eternity. Amen.

We will be collecting items to replenish Grandma's Attic for our end of March sale. We will then send remaining items to SAVERS which is a another wonderful organization that sells items at a discount and their proceeds benefit the Epilepsy Society. Ste. Anne's will receive $0.20 per pound donat-ed. We are already off to a wonderful start with 40 bags packed and ready to go! Of interest for Grandma's Attic are items in good condition to sell and sought out by shoppers: Bath & Kitchen towels, Sheet sets, pillowcases, blankets, comforters, curtains, as well as clothes and shoes for the entire family. See list on bulletin board of acceptable items. Volunteers ae needed as well. Questions please contact Judy Ware 781-258-6974 Alma Pelletier 978-500-6556 Thank You for your support.

Theology of the Body Retreat: Back by Popular Demand, the theology of the Body Retreat will be held from April 5 – 7, 2019 at the Betania II Retreat Center in Medway, MA. Sr. Helena Burns, fsp, will again host this retreat weekend where she will unpack the beauty of St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. TOB teaches us what it means to be fully human—male and female—and reveals answers to the fundamental questions of our lives leading to an awareness of human dignity, identity and purpose. For information and to register contact [email protected]

Second Collections: For years there have been concerns and complaints regarding the number of Second Collections taken up at weekend Masses. Most of these are National Collections tak-en up in all the parishes of our country to support the work of the Church here and throughout the world. To attempt to remedy this situation our Archdiocese has reduced the number of second collections during the year from 13 to 8. One of these will take place on next weekend, February 23/24. The name of this col-lection is “For the Church Around the World”. It combines the following former collections: “The Church in Africa and in Central and Eastern Europe”; “The Military Archdiocese, Home Mission, and Black and Native Americans”; and “Catholic Relief”. For this effort to be successful it presumes that you will strive to be more generous to this one collection than to the usual second collec-tions since the proceeds will be divided in several ways for these various needs throughout the world.

From Catholic Education to Addiction Recovery Services to Faith Community Nursing for the elderly, more than 50 critical ministries enrich parish life and the lives of those who turn to the Church for assistance. This past week, many of you received a letter from Cardinal Seán requesting your support of the 2019 Catholic Appeal, which provides nearly half of the funding for these life-changing programs. We hope that you will prayerfully con-sider pledging your support. Please find more information about this life-changing work at bostoncatholicappeal.org and make sure to view our latest video about the Appeal. Thank you!

Merci and Thank You Your financial support of the parish pays for utilities, staff and cler-gy salaries, property maintenance, supplies, and supports our par-ish ministries. Everything we do as a parish relies on the offertory collections and other donations.

Your continuing generous and sacrificial giving will assist your parish to provide for your spiritual needs and to serve the wider community.

Evangelization Notes: February 17 ~ Sixth Sunday of Ordi-nary Time We hear the Beatitudes proclaimed in today’s gospel. The text is so familiar, it is easy for our thoughts to drift off and not really hear what Christ is saying. Take some time this week to reflect on these Beatitudes. Is there one beatitude that you need to focus on that will enrich your living as a disciple of Christ? Put your trust in him to help you have that beatitude atti-tude!

St. Michael Prayer: In view of the many crises throughout the world, in our own country, and in the Church, a growing number of the American bishops are requiring or requesting that the Prayer to St. Michael, the Archangel, be prayed at the end of every Mass. We are now praying this prayer after Daily Mass and on the week-ends at all Masses. It is found in the bulletin and can be found on the back cover of the Heritage Missal. This prayer was also prayed after each Mass until the 1960s. Pray it also in your families.

Adult Confirmation: If you are age 18 or over and have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation, please contact or leave a message for Fr. John at 978-744-1930. He hopes to gather a group very soon. Two years ago at Merrimac College there were about 70 being confirmed from ages 21 into their 70ties. It is never too late.

We need your help!

Sainte Anne’s is looking for volunteers to help serve at funerals. If you have been considering joining one of our ministries but are not sure which ministry you would be most suited for, serving at funerals is a wonderful opportunity to experience three of our most important ministries, eucharistic minister, lector, and altar server, in front of a smaller gathering than a normal weekend Mass. Funerals are generally scheduled at least several days in advance, usually for between 10:00 and 11:00am and we try to schedule the volunteer servers as soon as the funeral is booked. Ministering at funerals is a wonderful expression of service to God, the Church, and especially the grieving family. If you think you might be interested in learning more please see Father John or our sacristan Larry Blanchard

Sacrament of the Sick: One of the gifts of the Second Vatican Council was the renewal of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. This beautiful sacrament is no long reserved for a person in danger of death, but should be celebrated by anyone with a serious illness, a person facing serious surgery, or a person in a weakened condition. The next celebration of this sacrament will be following the 8:30a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 17. The sacrament is also available for people in their homes by calling the rectory at 978-744-1930. Anyone terminally ill or beginning Hos-pice Care should receive this sacrament as soon as possible.

Catholic Appeal 2019: On last weekend Fr. John introduced at all Masses the 2019 Catholic Appeal. The Appeal funds, not the leadership of the Church, but the 51 ministries in our archdio-cese that serve the people of our parishes and institutions. Commitment weekend is March 2/3. The Appeal video is now up on our parish website. Check it out at: www.stannesalem.org .

Important Conference: Save the date for the Archdiocese of Boston’s 2nd Annual Intentional Discipleship conference, Satur-day, March 2 at Fontbonne Academy. This year’s theme, Inten-tional Discipleship: CALLED will feature keynote speakers Hosff-man Ospino, Gina Bauer, and Scott Powell. Mass will be cele-brated at 4PM by Bishop Robert Reed, followed by dinner and another keynote by Katie Prejean McGrady. For more info, visit disciplesinmission.com/conference.

Tuesday Evening Adoration and Rosary: Please join in the Tuesday evening 6:30p.m. Eucharistic Adoration and Praying of the Holy Rosary. With extra effort we could fill our chapel with praying people. Pray especially for the renewal and growth of Ste. Anne Parish. Mary, the Mother of the Lord, has constantly asked for the daily praying of the Rosary. At the very least try to join in this prayer once a week.

What is a Cursillo? (Pronounced: Cur-see-yo). The Cursillo is an invitation for you to experience the love of Je-sus Christ on a personal level and to bring this love and joy into your daily life. At the Saint Basil Salvatorian Center in Methuen, Massachusetts, Cursillo is open to Christians at least 21 years of age. The Cursillo begins on Thursday evening and concludes on Sunday evening. During the weekend, you will hear talks given by a team of lay people and spiritual directors. You will have the opportunity to participate in small table discussions, prayer, Mass, and great meals. Cursillo weekends are usually held on the first weekend of the month. For men, the Cursillo is held in February and April. For women, the Cursillo is held in January, March, May and June. For married couples, it is recommended that husbands attend first. If you have questions and are interest-ed, please contact Father John for more information.

Project Rachel Retreats: Project Rachel Post - Abortion Heal-ing Retreats (2/23, 3/23, 4/27) “My spirit was broken and as far as I knew beyond repair. I was consumed with feelings of re-morse. During the retreat, I realized the lasting impact of for-giveness. I knew God had forgiven me, and now I needed to forgive myself.” – A Project Rachel Retreat Attendee. The Pro-ject Rachel ministry of the Archdiocese of Boston extends a spe-cial invitation to women suffering from the pain of a past abortion to attend a Come to the Waters of Healing one-day retreat. Win-ter/spring dates are February 23, March 23 and April 27. Loca-tions are confidential. Limited to ten participants per retreat. For more information, contact Project Rachel at 508.651.3100 or [email protected].
