Pastoral Message On behalf of the St. Rita of Cascia Parish, I want to express our gratitude to Father Manuel for his three years of service in this community. At the same time, we wish him the best in his new assignment as Vicar of St. Monica Parish in Carpentersville. This is the life of a priest, working in mission wherever he is sent by the Lord. We know he will do great in that parish.
WELCOME FATHER SHANCHEZ! With happiness and hope we welcome father Adal-berto Sanchez to our parish. We hope he can easily adjust to his new family. Saint Rita is a multicultural community, active and open to everyone. Wel-come Father Sanchez. Father Adalberto Sanchez was born on June 25, 1972 in Mexico. His parents are Pedro Sanchez and Marcelina Mejia. He attended College at Rafael Landivar University in Guate-mala City and Theology at Intercontinental University, Mexico City. He then attended the semi-nary at St. Paul School of Divinity, St. Paul, MN and was ordained May 21, 2011 by Bishop Thomas G. Doran at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Rockford. His first assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish in Elgin. His second assignment was as paro-chial vicar at St. Mary Church in Sterling from July 2013 to June 17, 2018.

En nombre de la parroquia de Santa Rita de Cascia, ex-preso nuestra gratitud al Padre Manuel por sus tres años de servicio en esta comunidad. De igual forma le desea-mos lo mejor en su nueva asignación como vicario de la parroquia de Santa Mónica en Carpentersville. Esa es la vida del sacerdote, hacer la misión donde es enviado por el Señor. Sabemos qué hará una gran labor en esa par-roquia. Felicidades por su nuevo nombramiento.

para todos. Bienvenido Padre Sánchez. El padre Adalberto Sánchez nació en México el 25 de junio de 1972. Sus padres son Pedro Sánchez y Marcelina Mejía. Estudió filosofía en la Univer-sidad Rafael Landívar en la ciudad de Guatemala y teología en la Universidad Intercontinental de la Ciudad de México. También estudió en el Seminario de San Pablo en
la Escuela de Divinidad en St. Paul, MN. Fue ordenado sacerdote el 21 de mayo de 2011 por el Obispo Thomas G. Doran en la Iglesia Catedral de San Pedro, en Rock-ford. Su primer nombramiento como vicario parroquial fue en la Iglesia San José en Elgin. Su siguiente nom-bramiento como vicario parroquial fue en la Iglesia de Santa María en Sterling, de julio de 2013 al 17 de junio de 2018.

Summer is here, school is over (or almost). Here are some ideas for you to do this summer.
Spend more time out of your bed than in your bed. Sleep outside once a week and invite more and more friends to join the camp out each week. Make pancakes in the morning. Stop trying to get a beach-bod and instead challenge yourself to make 3 healthy changes this Summer. To new healthy habits, drink more water and less soda. Learn a new prayer. Maybe the St. Michael prayer for your future soda cravings. You can google the St. Michael prayer and save it to your phone.

Woman of Inspiration Nominations Open
If you know a woman in our parish that is faith-filled, who partici-pates in worship and is active in the parish or in the community at large -and radiates Christ in her actions and words… nominate her as a Woman of Inspiration. This recognition is given to wom-en in the Rockford Diocese who live their faith and lead by exam-ple. St. Rita is blessed to have many women who fit this description. To streamline the process in our parish and to give opportunity to all women from our diverse community to be considered, from now on one year the nominees will be from the English masses and another year from the Spanish masses. The woman of inspiration will be then selected by a committee. This year we will be nominating women who attend English masses. Nominations may be placed in the container set up in the gathering space for this purpose. The women selected by each parish in the Aurora Deanery will be honored during a dinner August 26th at Piper Banquets in Aurora.

Este reconoci-miento se da a mujeres en la Diócesis de Rockford que viven su fe y guían con su ejemplo. Santa Rita es una parroquia que ha sido bendecida con muchas mujeres

Para hacer el proceso de selección más eficiente en nuestra parroquia, y para dar la oportunidad de que todas las mujeres de nues-tra parroquia tan diversa sean consideradas, a partir de ahora las nominaciones se harán de la siguiente manera: este año se nominará a mujeres que asisten a misa en inglés y el año próximo a quienes asisten a misa en español y así suce-sivamente. Vocation Summer Camps The Vocation Office of the Diocese of Rockford is once again sponsoring fun filled summer camps and retreats at Bishop Lane Retreat Center. St. Therese Camp and Retreat, for young women in 7th grade thru college age will take place from June 24 – 27th with Sisters from different communities joining us. Jeremiah Days, for boys in 7th grade thru 9th grades, July 8th – 11th and First Call Retreat, for young adult males entering 10th grade and thru college, July 15th – 18th our seminarians studying for our diocese will be facilitating this camp and retreat along with Fr. LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA
Let me begin by saying Happy Father’s Day to all men who have played a role in any way in leading others to live good and upright lives and especially to those who have led others to know and love God. I say this in a very general way in light of an experience that blew me away less than a month after being ordained a priest. Simply put, someone gave me a Father’s Day card. As I opened it and say that it said “Happy Father’s Day” I was confused for the briefest of moments, because as a celi-bate priest I of course don’t have any children of my own. However, I quickly realized that I am called “Father” and that I play a role in giving spiritual life and in raising people in the faith. I share this story today because many young men who are discerning priesthood end up saying no to the call simply be-cause they say that they want kids of their own and they want to be fathers. I understand their sentiment com-pletely, because that was me at one point. But over time the Lord helped me to see that I am still a father, and that this isn’t just a nice little idea. At my parish where I am assigned there are over 400 kids in the grade school and those are my kids! I love teaching every single one of them about Christ and helping them grow and learn. So if you feel a call to the priesthood but struggle to say yes because you want to be a father, know that God has a great way of making it all work out! Happy Fathers Day! - Fr. Romke
