Dear Parents, Pupils, Staff and Parishioners, What a week we have had! It has been non-stop action and fun at SJF. Last night, Year 6 performed live at The Albany – Cinderella Rockerfella – to all of their families and friends. THEY WERE AMAZING! We are so proud of each and every single one of them because in true SJF style the children gave it their all! We were also extremely impressed with our Year 5 pupils who sang their hearts out to support Year 6 in the balcony. Next year, it will be their turn to stand on the stage! We are already thinking of ideas, so Year 5 parents watch this space!

Confirmation: Last Sunday, Class 14 celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation with Bishop William Kenney. This was a beautiful celebration! Our children behaved with such reverence! Congratulations to all!

Class 1 Assembly: Thank you Class 1 for your wonderful assembly today, where you shared your learning about all things Under the Sea. What little super stars they were!

The Gruffalo Trail: On Monday, Reception went on an adventure to Cannock Chase Park to find a Gruffalo! We followed the trail by looking out for the Gruffalo mushrooms that lead us to the all of the characters! We found the snake, the owl, the fox, the mouse and The Gruffalo! His eyes were orange, his tongue was black and he had purple prickles all over his back! The children enjoyed their day in the forest, had lots of fun on the trail and enjoyed playing in the natural playground. The adults on the trip were extremely proud of how beautifully the children behaved, we had a fantastic day!

Year 2’s Visit to Hatton Country World On Tuesday year two went to Hatton Country World as we are learning about animals this term. We had a great time feeding goats and sheep, handling reptiles and guinea pigs and riding on an army truck. The children were a credit to our school!

Year 3 Wow Science Day:

On one of the hottest days of the year, Year 3 didn't come 'unstuck' when investigating magnets last Monday! Both classes had fun learning about the force of magnetism, finding out which materials are magnetic, which of our magnets are the strongest and some even tried to build a magnetic structure and make faces from iron filings. The 'wow' day was not just great fun, but it also helped the children to practice their graph drawing skills, and see maths used in context. We look forward to delivering more exciting science next year.

Class 3 and 4 – Seaside in the Past: On Wednesday, we enjoyed visiting a seaside from ‘Victorian times’. We tried a ‘penny lick’, we made our own ‘Punch and Judy’ puppets and saw the puppet show. We made our own shell trinket boxes and decorated a pot. In the afternoon we boarded the train to walk on the pier where we bought fish and chips and had a go on the ‘penny’ arcades.
