Carnet de Passage: Only compulsory if the vehicle is being shipped to Namibia. Application forms can be downloaded here. Police Clearance Certificates are not required for temporary importation. These are only required if the vehicle is being used for rental purposes or if the importer is in the country on a working permit.

Permit: Allowed up to three months, if staying in Namibia for longer and on a working permit, a provisional payment of duties valued at 16.5% of the value of the car has to be paid to customs. This is refundable upon the car's export from Namibia. The work permit must be shown on the passport and on the letter from the company in Namibia confirming that you will be working for them. Cars registered in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique and Botswana do not need to obtain a Carnet.

’n Loodgieter se hoop

Daar word dikwels in die Bybel gepraat van Jesus wat die Verlosser is. En dit is so - Jesus het ons via die kruis verlos van ons sondes. Maar baie interessant is dat Paulus hier aan die begin van die brief aan Timoteus, God ook die Verlosser noem. 1... God ons Verlosser en van Christus Jesus ons Hoop. (1983-vertaling)

En dit is so, God is saam met Jesus ons Verlosser. Saam het hulle gesit en planne beraam om die mense uit hulle moeilikheid te red. As dit nie vir God was nie, as Hy nie hierdie lewensreddingsplan saamgestel het en deur Jesus laat uitvoer het nie, sou ons vandag nog in doodse moeilikheid gewees het.

Ons moet aanhou om God te eer dat Hy ook ons Verlosser is. Ons moet gedurig daaroor nadink, want dan sal die krag en betekenis daarvan deel word van ons lewe.

En tog is die lewe nie so maklik nie. Daar gebeur kort-kort dinge wat veroorsaak dat ons nie voluit kan hardloop nie. Die een probleem na die ander klim op ons rug. Ons voete begin sleep, want die las is eenvoudig net te swaar. Met die gevolg dat ons nie die beeld van die verlossende God kan uitleef nie. Inteendeel, ons sien eintlik nie meer kans om môre op te staan en die lewe in die oë te kyk nie.

Hoe nou gemaak?

My skoonpa stuur vir my dié storie waarvan die skrywer onbekend is. Dalk help dit jou om weer ’n bietjie hoop in jou lewe te bring:

GEESTELIKE PITKOS

’n Man vertel dat hy eendag ’n loodgieter gehuur het om hom te help om ’n ou huis se pypwerk te vervang. Aan die einde van ’n rowwe dag (sy elektriese boor het ingegee) kom hy by sy bakkie en sien dat die ’n pap wiel het. Na hy die wiel reggemaak het, wou die bakkie om te dood toe nie aan die gang kom nie.

Die eienaar het aangebied om hom huis toe te neem. In stilte ry hulle tot by sy huis. Die loodgieter nooi hom in om sy gesin te ontmoet. Soos wat hulle na die voordeur toe loop, aarsel hy by ’n klein boompie en vat saggies met albei sy hande aan die boonste takkies.

Toe die deur oopswaai, is daar ’n ongelooflike verandering in hom. Op sy gesig was ’n groot glimlag. Hy het sy twee kinders ’n warm druk gegee en sy vrou omhels en met ’n hartlike soen gegroet.

Toe hy en die eienaar later terugstap, kon die eienaar sy nuuskierigheid nie hou nie en vra hom uit hoekom hy met die ingaan gestop het by die boompie? “O” sê die loodgieter, “daardie is my probleemboompie. Ek weet dat daar altyd maar probleme by die werk gaan wees, maar een ding is seker, daardie probleme hoort nie in my huis nie. So, ek hang hulle elke keer op voordat ek na ’n lang dag se werk by die huis instap. Ek vra ook vir God om na hulle om te sien.”

“Snaaks genoeg, as ek dan in die môre daar aankom, is daar nie naastenby so baie soos wat ek die vorige aand daar gelos het nie!”

Watter groot les leer ons nie van die loodgieter nie. Ja, ons moenie met ons probleme die huis instap nie, maar meer nog - ons moet dit in Jesus se hande laat. Dit is hier waar die hoop inkom.

Ons moet bly hoop dat Jesus op ’n bonatuurlike manier sal timmer aan ons probleme en ons sal help om dit te hanteer. Jesus het al vir ons aan die kruis deurgekom, daarom kan ons hoop én seker wees dat Hy wéér vir ons sal deurkom. Nie net hier op die aarde met ons pakke probleme nie, maar ons kan bly hoop op ons plek in die hemel ...
