Hi Parents/Guardians, Another week of home schooling! Hopefully it is one week closer until we are all together again. I hope you are all well and staying safe! I have updated the weekly time table as you will find below. If you are finding it difficult to open or access anything please email the school office and they will get in contact with me and I will do my best to sort any issues out. This Friday I will put together a video of the children sharing message to Class Moore. I have timetabled this to take place on Monday afternoon. Please send the photos to Twitter or Seasaw by Thursday so I can put the video together for Friday. If you could take a photo of your child holding up a sign with a special message to the people in our class. I am also aware that not all families follow the class twitter page, therefore, can I ask that you spread this to all the families of children in our class. It would be lovely if everyone could join in. I know some children do not have permission for their image or video to go onto the internet, if for whatever reason you do not want your child featured on the internet version please let me know. I will create a ‘Non-internet version and send this to you separately to share with your child. Thank you again for all your hard work and support of the children with their learning at home! Keep up the amazing work you are all doing. Miss Thompson

Topic Come and See:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFxvzcltljU listen to the story - I’m Sorry by Sam McBratney a story about making a wrong choice. What happens as a consequence? Talk about the situations where we have to choose what to do and how sometimes we make good choices– good for others and for ourselves – and sometimes we make wrong choices which make others and ourselves unhappy.Look at the picture of the children playing (below) Talk about how it is sometimes hard to say sorry when you have made a wrong choice – and sometimes it can be hard to forgive someone else when their choice hurts you.

Q What do you think has happened in the picture?

Q How do you think the boy and the girl feel?

How do you know?

Q What choice has the girl made?

Q What do you think happens next?

Q When have you had to make choices like that?

Q What helped you?Q What good choices have you made?

Q How did you feel?

Q What happens when you make a wrong choice?

Q How do you feel, then? How can you try to make it right?

Task – write about a time your felt happy and a time you felt sad. Use these sentence openers to help: I was happy when I ……… I was sad when I …….

Science

Ted the teddy bear has a problem. He was out in the garden when it started to rain and he got wet. What could he do to stop it from happening again? Can you design an umbrella for Ted? Test different materials and work out which would be best to make Ted’s umbrella. Think about how you could test these materials? What would you need to look out for? Which material would the most suitable be to makes Ted’s umbrella from? Why? Share your design ideas on Twitter.

Encourage the use of key words. Absorbent, waterproof, bendy, transparent, opaque.

Year 2 – This week we would have investigated plants we can eat. We would have researched and learnt about how food is grown on farms by farmers and sell their products to the supermarkets where we then buy it from. I have set you a 2Do on Purple Mash. Imagine you are a farmer growing crops to sell to the supermarket. What plant food do you grow? How do you look after it? What do

Come and See:

Show the picture and scripture (find below in resources) explain how Jesus was gathering a group of people to help him spread the Good News. He chose people who would follow him faithfully and would be sorry for when they made wrong choices. Levi the tax collector was one of those people. Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_0fCjTCEq4

This is what happened:One day Jesus saw Levi, the tax collector, sitting at his table collecting people’s taxes. Jesus knew Levi had not always been honest, but still he asked him to follow his way. Levi was really pleased at Jesus’ invitation and he got up and said: ‘Come to my house I am going to have a big party to celebrate.’ Levi changed his ways and became a friend of Jesus. Based on Luke 5: 27-31

Q What did Levi do?

Q How did he do his job?

Q What was Levi’s answer to Jesus’ invitation to follow him?

Q What invitation did Levi give to Jesus?

Q How do you think did Levi change?

Task –Imagine you are Levi and write a thank you card to Jesus for helping you to change your ways. I have provided a postcard template below.

Art – Sculptures This week you will look at the artist Brendan Jamison an artist born in Belfast. He creates sculptures with unusual materials such as wax and wool. He creates figurative sculptures of things such as buildings. He is famous for creating famous buildings out of sugar cubes. He built a replica of the Tate Modern and the door of 10 Downing Street. I have added the power point to the webpage for extra information. I would like you to choose a famous building from anywhere in the world, can you create a sculpture using things you have found around your house. Please send some photos to Twitter.

Create a Coronavirus time capsule. Add images or pictures about your time in lock down. I have put a template on the school webpage that you can use. It is quite large so could be completed over time.

Today I would like you to create a poster for Class Moore with a special message written to all your friends in class. I will use these images for the Friday video this week. *If you do not want your Childs image to appear on Twitter please make this clear when sending images*

Today is International nurse day, make a poster to put in your window to say thank you to all the nurses across the country.

Is there a job that a family member needs help with, a chore to do or any help at all? Make them smile by doing it for them.

Take time to listen to a piece of music that you really love. Close your eyes and listen to the words. Take deep breathes and relax.

Write a special message for the people in your family saying thank you for everything they have done for you this week.
