We are all part of God's vine and are rooted in His rich soil. We are nurtured and supported so that we may grow and spread out into the world to love and to serve. Home Learning Guidelines: Use the grid below to help structure your child’s home learning. We would encourage children to complete at least 2 activities from each column and record their learning experience in their challenge book. This could be done in a variety of ways. For example, writing a few sentences about what they learnt, drawing a picture, sticking in a photograph, completing a thought bubble etc. To support your child at home with reading we ask that your child reads at least 4 times a week. Remember there are lots of resources to support reading on our website. There is no expectation that your child completes the home learning challenges if they are unwell or if circumstances at home are such that the completion of the tasks cause unnecessary stress and anxiety to the household.

We are all part of God's vine and are rooted in His rich soil. We are nurtured and supported so that we may grow and spread out into the world to love and to serve.

Home Learning Guidelines:

Use the grid below to help structure your child’s home learning.

Skin deep?Have you ever heard the phrase ‘Beauty is only skin deep’? It means the most important thing is what people are like on the inside. Sometimes it can feel as if society only values the way we look, but we know that people are more than a set of physical features. Try this task to look a bit deeper into what makes a person have your respect and admiration.See instructions below.

Skin Deep Instructions1. Find a picture of someone you really respect. It can be someone you know, someone from history or someone in the news today. 2. Draw or stick a picture of them in the middle of a page. You are going to make a spider diagram. 3. Write all of the things you like or admire about your person around the picture. Think about what they have achieved, their character, how kind or generous they are, the important things they do or say, but you cannot write anything about what they look like! 4. When you’ve finished, think about how easy or difficult you found this task. 5. Now try the same thing again, but this time put your own picture in the middle of the page.

Advertising Water

Advertising is everywhere. It is a type of writing which tries to persuade you to use or buy one product rather than another.Today, you are going to be an advertiser. You need to create a magazine advert for water. Your aim is to get more children to drink more water.

Things to consider: Products often sell best when people can identify what benefits they have. What amazing things does water do in your body? How does it keep you healthy?Things to do:1. Make a list of all the good things that water does in your body. 2. Carry out a survey of your friends and family. Ask them some questions about water. How much do they drink? Do they know why our bodies need water? What might persuade them to drink more? 3. Look at some examples of how other drinks are advertised in magazines. 4. Use the results of your research to design your advert. Remember, your audience is children of your age and you want them to drink more water. Make sure to research how much water a ten year old person is recommended to drink each day.
