    be

    yours

alone and what I do for you, I 'm

    unworthy I know

    I'm on unworthy

    MIREa

Often.before I go to bed I lay and wonder:

    How

    did we ever get

    through

    this busy day,

    I w o n d e r

    Many

    hands

    make

    my

    nice

Your expense saved me th e

    price.

    Your gas and

    t i res

    given

    sweetly

    Made my

    expense

    so

    more

    neatly.

    Your beds so warm

    and happil y g iven

    Makes my day

    worth

    l iv 'en.

    Your money in

    the

    offering plate

Made i t possible for us to gonot wait.

    Mispah and Love,

    J L o i s Rees

    Lois arrived safely in India

    on

    January

    23, 1972. Below

    are

    excerpts

    from

    her r ec en t

    letters

    First

    of

    allwedding

    preparations

    for

    Bana. Emyrs was

    also

    here with me

    to

    help,

    and

    along with a virus

    infection

I receivedall the help needed. Tonight I

    am

    in

    our hospital

    sitting

    on a very hard pebbly

    floor

    writing on a rope

    strand

    bed. Very

    prickly,

    hut I am

    not

    suffering

    from that but from

    heatand bed

    bugs

    The people here

    are

so afraid I l l starve. They keep bringing me food and drink just after

    I have eaten. I

    decided to

    eat

    or

drink some of the curd sent over to me by a

    villager.

    Uell, I wondered why

    it

was so brown and I started to

    s ti r i t

    I found a

    piece

    o f r a t

    manure. The

    spoonful

and a half I had eaten gave

    me

    painall psychological

    of course

I hope I'm not ruining your

    appetite

    or soaring you. I

    am

    sure I will

    live

    all right.

I v e survived twenty- five years and plus

    o f

    such.

    I'm

    on the grounds

    to

    see the

    door

    frames put into the hospital

    building, but

    no masons

    came

    because i t is

    election

    day.

    Re

    will be

    having inspection of the

    work and

    of the

    workers

    next

    week. Also, I

    learned yesterday

    that

    a Leprosy

    official

    will

    come.

    ;

    Everyone was

    afraid

    for me

    to sleep

here, but I just pointed towards heaven and back to

    myself and I

    finally

    convinced them

    to

    go. Unfortunately,

    there

    is a language barrier here.

    The kinds of

    visitors

    I

    occasionally

    haveas

    there

    are no doors or floors,

    and t he bage ls

    are

    openare l izards, r a t s and cobras. . . . and

    possibly

    a

    bear.
