Gift Registry

Do your “home” homework. Survey your nest and see what you have had since college, maybe that should be

upgraded or things you neglect to buy yourself. Your friends and family want to be a part of your life together and

your home.

When do I register? EARLY! Within the month of your engagement you will be on your “engagement tour” visiting

your friends and family and they will be looking to get you and your honey a

little something.

Libby & JeremyCasper

This fairy tale wedding started with an invitation to a “pretend” wedding in Pittsburg so that the groom could propose to his love at the exact spot

where they met four years before. Their wedding had the same suprise and

excitement as the engagement! Libby and Jeremy said “I Do” on a crisp

September day in Casper, with friends and family there to celebrate. Libby’s South African heritage was wovevn throughout the wedding details, a

“Unity Omlet” during the ceremony and the groom playing chef for 225

wedding guests, they loved every min-ute of their personalized wedding day.

9.2.2012

Page 23: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

The theme: The entire wedding was a DIY labor of love with the theme of “rustic mountain-top charm.” The decor and stationery followed the same theme. It was Wyoming meets South Africa. “Our cultural backgrounds are fairly divergent. Jeremy was born and raised in Wyoming; I was born in South Africa and raised on both sides of the Atlantic (Nebraska, South Africa, Malawi and Kenya). It was my goal to honor and incorporate both of our heritages into the wedding details.” Libby and Jeremy’s favorite project was their coaster invitations!

The colors: The color palette was inspired by the South African King Protea: coral and pistachio green, with gray, desert browns, and white as accent colors.

The dress: Libby’s textured lace mermaid-cut gown was a generous gift from her grandmother. From the fishtail chap-el train, to the scalloped hem, Libby said she felt like she was “floating on cotton candy.” when she wore it.

The flowers: Libby’s bouquet was a single South African King Protea. The floral accents were a mix of succulents that Jeremy’s mom grew. The succulents were used in all of the centerpieces, bouquets, corsages and boutonnières!

rockymountainbride.com 21Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming

Page 24: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

The favorite detail: “Our favorite detail of the wedding was all the creativity poured into the details themselves! We incorporated antique, vintage and rustic into almost everything. I love that the aesthetic honored the outdoor cathedral of nature - tall, regal lodge pole pines and golden, quaky aspens. We made our guests feel at home in the outdoor chapel, lounge and dinner tent. From the collected doors and windows, plus the reclaimed furniture that formed our outdoor chapel, to the handcrafted beaded protea centerpieces commissioned by my parents by a South African artist, to the welcome table and buffet overflowing with succulents, to the banners with pops of color and pattern reminiscent of quilt pieces, and the propane fire for the guests to warm themselves. It is IMPOSSIBLE to chose one.”

The sweets: Libby and Jeremy decided to do a dessert bar instead of a cake. Each dessert was crafted by friends and family - an even sweeter treat! Guests enjoyed South African cookies by the Bride’s mom, vanilla bean & double chocolate chip frappucino cupcakes, and cheesecakes of all types!

The food: The Groom was the caterer! He stayed up the night before the wedding and crafted a Greek-inspired menu. Guests enjoyed a Greek gyro bar with delicious olives, fresh feta, and homemade tzatziki sauce. Jeremy smoked over 80 pounds of lamb for his guests and made enough tabbouleh salad and spicy hummus for over 200 people. Talk about talent!

Three words: Authentic, Jubilant, Transcendent

Advice for RMB Brides: Choose to be as aware of each moment on your special day. It is a challenge, but please be present to enjoy every minute of love on your wedding day.

Elizabeth & Derek Cheyenne

A fall day, a beautiful wedding, and a vintage tire truck ... what more could you ask for! Elizabeth and

Derek’s Vintage Fire Truck wedding was everything they dreamed of. They exchanged vows on September 28th, at the Hereford Ranch, then danced

the night away at Little America, Cheyenne. From her bright

red floral to the groom’s cake celebrating Derek’s Firefighter career, their day was filled with all the things

that they are proud of!

9.28.2013

Page 28: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

The colors: The color palette was inspired by the season - eggplant, yellow, and red.

The theme: “Our theme was elegant yet simple. Our wedding utilized a rustic antique fire truck throughout the day, as part of our décor and our colors reflected an old fire engine as well as the current season of fall. The theme incorporated some of our favorite things – the outdoors, a fire truck and the colors and feeling of the Fall air.

The dress: Elizabeth described her a-line lace gown as “ modest, simple, and vintage.”

The flowers: The bride had a cascade bouquet filled with red gerbera daisies, white dendrobium, orchid lilies and miniature sunflowers. The centerpieces were a mix of sunflowers and gerbera daisies.

26 rockymountainbride.com Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming

Page 29: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

The favorite detail: The outdoor area that we created for our ceremony. The décor and the fire truck dropping the bride and her father off to walk down the aisle and then picking up the newlywed couple for a ride around the ranch as the new Mr. and Mrs - Priceless!

The sweets: Elizabeth and Derek cut into a lovely three - tier round cake with tiny triangular dots and decorated with red gerbera daisies. The cake was classic white with a rich almond frosting. The groom’s cake was in honor of Derek’s firefighter career - a chocolate sheet cake depicting the IAFF Local #279 Fire logo in frosting!

The food: Guest enjoyed a buffet of steak, chicken, vegetables, potatoes and salad for dinner. To complete the night, a hot cocoa bar provided a sweet treat!

Advice for RMB Brides: Relax during the day. Simple is always elegant.Incorporate something that resembles you as a couple into your wedding. Savor every moment you can because the day goes by so quickly.

Three words: Meaningful, Memorable, and Real

Love Your LipsA bride’s guide to kissable lips on her wedding day

By Brandi Lea Nash Licensed esthetician & professional makeup artist Owner of Eye Candy by Brandi

The PrepAll Natural Lip Exfoliate

Remove any lip color or lip balm with a warm washcloth.12

Mix in the palm of your hand approx. 1/8 tsp of white or brown sugar with 1 or 2 drops of olive oil. If you want to get a little fancy add some honey or one drop of peppermint oil to

your mixture.

3Using your finger, apply the scrub to your lips in a circular

motion. This exfoliates and adds moisture simultaneously. Do this for about 1 minute.

4Remove the scrub with a warm washcloth. Pat-dry lips with a

towel.

5Finish up with a healing and moisture rich lip product such as

Magpie Potions lip balms. This lip prep is especially beneficial to do in the evening right before bed. Do this

once or twice a week!

Magpie Potions’ lip products are 100% natural and made in Wyoming with native plants that leave you with soft and smooth lips.($3, magpiepotions.com)

#313, Rose Ballet($23, dillards.com)

Fair SkinDon’t let the vibrant look scare you away. Maybelline’s Color Whisper formulation is actually a sheer wash of color while providing your lips with the perfect amount of shine. Brunettes may want to try more pink shades, peaches are a top pick for redheads, and blondes will look great in both! The Color Whisper collection is soft, weightless and kissable; great for your bridal lip color.

“Pop of Poppy”($7.49, major retail stores)

Medium SkinNude lip colors are HOT for 2014 brides. L’Oreal Collection Privee Colour Riche line has a nude shade for every skin tone. For Medium tones try: “Eva’s Nude.” This limited collection of six different shades are inspired by multi-cultural celebrity L’Oreal spokeswomen including Eva Longoria. “Eva’s Nude,” is a classy golden peach nude, with a satin finish. Apply directly onto lips or apply with a lip brush.

Dark SkinWhat’s better than one lip gloss? How about four! Cargo’s Nourishing Lip Gloss quad in “Oceania,” is the perfect lip compan-ion. These four super soft and sheer glosses look great on every skin tone. For dark skin tones, line lips and fill-in ever so slightly; fading the liner color with whispy strokes as you move inward to avoid a harsh lip liner look. Top lips with one of the gloss colors using a lip brush.

LIP TIP: Always getting lipstick on your teeth? Try this: After you have applied your lip color, wrap your lips around your index finger like you would a straw

and slowly remove.

For the trendy bride that wants all eyeson her, Mirabella’s Color Vinyl Lipstick

is a must!

If a simple sweep of gloss is your style, you will fall head over heals for Lancome’s Lip Lover Lip Gloss.

Alyssa & AndrewStory

Alyssa and Andrew said “I Do” on a clear summer day in June. Friends and family celebrated at Wild Rose Guest Ranch, which was the perfect spot for

their vintage and blue wedding! Alyssa studied English Literature, so she incorporated all of her favorite books,

quotes, and authors into the wedding design. Cut out hearts from the pages of Jane Austin’s beloved novels

were scattered on the tables, and vintage books were used as decoration

everywhere. Their wedding was right out of a classic love story, with a

Wyoming twist!

6.15.2013

Page 43: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

The colors: The color palette was various shades of blue.

The theme: Alyssa and Andrew wanted a wedding that represented all the things they love. With Alyssa’s background in English Literature, she incorporated alot of books in the design, which also gave it a vintage feel.

The dress: Alyssa’s dress was an A-Line Ball Gown with a beaded corset on top and a full skirt with scattered lace on the overlay. A pale pink bow around her waist completed the look! “It felt vintage, classic, and modern at the same time.”

The flowers: They used various shades of natural blue flowers. Alyssa’s bouquet was a mix of natural white and blue floral, and the centerpieces were arrangements of blue wildflower varieties in bud vases.

Favorite detail: “Both venues, The Occidental and The Wild Rose Guest Ranch were spectacular. I loved the size of our wedding because it felt very intimate.“

rockymountainbride.com 41Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming

Page 44: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

The unexpected: “I think the day itself. We dated for five years before we got married and I never thought we would actually get married!”

The sweets: The wedding cake was lace-inspired. It had a beige base layer with ivory lace fondant on top, filled with vanilla cake, and a fresh raspberry filling. Along with the cake, guests enjoyed cupcakes of all kinds!

The food: Alyssa and Andrew had fun with their food selection; choosing their favorite eats for guests to enjoy. For cocktail hour they had a popcorn bar where guests could choose their toppings. At dinner, they served a whole roasted pig, barbecue, and chicken parmesan.

Advice for RMB Brides: Take everything in stride. Something might go in a different direction than you expected, but at the end of the day, you married the love of your life so it was a success!

Three words: Intimate, Beautiful, and Fun

The honeymoon: The two jetted overseas and enjoyed a Carnival Cruise through France, Italy, and Spain!

Lauran & Doug Jackson

Lauran and Doug fell in love with Jackson Hole and the Tetons at first sight! They consider the area their

“second home,” so what better place to get married! Their destination

wedding extravanganza had their guests falling in love with Jackson too.

Their wedding stayed true to the season and let the location be the

“wow” factor. These two couldn’t have asked for a better day!

5.25.2013

Page 51: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

rockymountainbride.com 49Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming

The theme: Lauran and Doug considered Jackson their “second home”, so they couldn’t think of a better place to get married! Their theme was Natural Minimalism - they used a neutral color palette and pops of greens and oranges that you would see naturally there in May.

The colors: In keeping with their Natual Minimalism theme, they chose the colors of the spring season - neutrals mixed with citron, evergreen, and sea glass.

The dress: “Very structural - I loved that the train/bustle reminded me of the mountain range - very distinct lines and angles. It was also a nod to Doug’s engineering background and love of clean lines and simple design. My mom had set it aside at Designing Brides in Davidson, NC during a visit. She didn’t tell me this until after I decided on it, but I had picked out the same one during my appointment! My mom designed and created the lace top. We weren’t sure what the weather would be like, and while I didn’t necessarily need it – the weather was perfect – I ended up loving the texture it added to my look. Everything seemed to work really well together, especially my “something borrowed” - my maid of honor’s family heirloom fur stoll. “

The flowers: Because of the nature of destination weddings, Lauran wanted to get everything done ahead of time. She used succulents, thistle, wildflowers (all silk/synthetic), and prepared them all beforehand. She said it was great to check it off her list before the wedding!

Page 52: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

50 rockymountainbride.com Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming

The unexpected: Lauran and Doug had a wedding crasher in the form of a Silver Fox! He watched outside the Chapel as they got married, and guest were able to get photos of him!

The sweets: “The wedding cake was a group effort from the women in my family, a tradition first started by my grandmother for my parents when they were married in 1979. Three of my aunts and my mom made the cake in the days leading up to the wedding, including the chocolate gingerbread wildlife to surround the base! The flavor was that of a traditional wedding cake - vanilla/almond cake with fondant icing.”

The food: When it came to food, Doug and Lauran kept it local! They served the guests elk, bison, Snake River trout, and Idaho potatoes.

Advice form RMB Brides: If you’re doing a destination wedding to the mountains, look local for day-of professionals. Ask for referrals during every conversation! Even if you’re super familiar with the area, like we were with Jackson Hole, keep an open mind to their suggestions during the planning process. We made a lot of decisions this way and put tons of faith into the professionals we chose; I don’t regret a thing about it!”

Three Words: Unbelievable (or “dreamlike”), beautiful, meaningful

The honeymoon: A staymoon in Jackson of course! They stayed at Hotel Terra and enjoyed all the wonders of the area!

One of the best secrets of design is to combine contrasting concepts successfully. In this shoot we focused on combining new and vintage

pieces; natural, organic textures with metallic’s; and added just the right amount of glamour to our rustic venue. In addition to adding interest to your aesthetic, this gives you a chance to incorporate older sentimental

pieces that may not be traditional wedding decor. We adore the way the weathered wood makes our bride’s shoes pop and can’t get enough of

the floral crown against the metallic in the invitation suite!

Page 57: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

Lavender Love We love this stunning bouquet by Poppy’s Floral in Laramie. Every time we look at it we notice another fabulous detail, like the lavender that add so much depth to the arrangement.

Page 58: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Winter 2014

The Palette Plum + Peach + Silver Move over gold, silver is here to stay! The color pop of rich plums and burgundies blend great with the soft peach. The antique silver chargers and silverware play perfectly with these colors and help to bring out the rich tones in the wood and floral.
