Hello Again Warm Weather!

I love that first warm March day that reminds you sun-kissed days are coming soon. Summer weddings in Montana are spectacular - the mountains come alive and show off their beauty. Wild flowers, rich green trees and crisp rivers blend together and invite you to explore the Rockies. With an invite like that, I don’t know how one could say no!

In this issue of RMB Montana, we wanted to showcase as many sun-soaked and summer-inspired locations as we could! From Glacier to Yellowstone, there are so many amazing places to say “I Do” in Montana. The possibilities are simply endless! We loved the Southwest design of the Bar N Ranch and Under Canvas “Get The Look” and the fashionably fun bridal shower at The Baxter Ranch! This issue’s love stories are inspiring, and while filled with gorgeous details, the true emotions of their day shine even brighter. And that is what we are most proud of— helping couples find their Rocky Mountain wedding inspiration so they can marry the love of their life!

We at Rocky Mountain Bride are so excited and honored to be a part of your wedding planning! I hope these pages inspire you to plan a your perfect summertime soirée in Montana, and more importantly, make your wedding day about your beautiful love story.

“There is nothing better than having all your loved ones in the same place and getting to marry your favorite person! We are grateful for the friends, family, and vendors who came together to make our day so incredible. In classic Montana fashion, it started raining right before our outdoor ceremony. Everyone pitched in and moved the ceremony indoors, but right before it was to begin, the sun broke through and the weather cleared. We had the ceremony outside with everyone

standing with us. The feeling of having all the people we loved gathered around us as we said (sobbed) our vows to each other was an indescribable moment. A little rain (and even a tandem bike wreck!) made for the perfect first day of marriage!”

Ingrid & Aarongreenough

Ingrid and Aaron’s love story started in the first grade. Since meeting as youngsters, they always remained close. If there’s one thing their friends know them for, it’s their dedication to one another and their adventurous, wander lusting spirits! Through very challenging times - a 15-month deployment and cancer - Ingrid and Aaron learned to focus on each other, embrace the positives and decide what takes priority in their lives. Aaron proposed in Cape Cod and the two starting planning an intimate celebration in Oahu with close friends and family, but it just didn’t feel quite true to them as a pair. So they chose to travel for three months and elope somewhere utterly natural and serene. A month before the wedding, the couple chose The Resort at Paws Up as the perfect backdrop to their bohemian “I Do” on August 18th.

Page 23: Rocky Mountain Bride Montana Spring & Summer 2016

The Theme: Ingrid and Aaron love natural, untouched and unspoiled beauty. When they travel, their goal is to find places where few have been. They wanted the same feel for their wedding day. The nature of Montana was their backdrop. Soft, natural colors in their floral and accents brought together their natural look.

The Dress: “Oh how I love “Love Shack Fancy.” There was never a decision making process because I knew that her design and her dresses were perfectly me. Rebecca Hessel Cohen is an NYC goddess who has her signature silk dresses hand dyed, hand tethered, and hand made with love. The dress was comfortable, chic, and ethereal.”

The Flowers: “I think all good things in life are wild - the Montana woods, the Blackfoot River, the bareback horses. I wanted a bouquet that matched that essence. I went for something colorful, something abundant, and something with a light of it’s own. And what’s a barefoot bride without flowers in her hair!”

The Favorite Detail: “The morning of our wedding, we woke up to the sound of the Blackfoot River and the sun peeking through our tent window. We had a lovely breakfast on our balcony, then took the bikes out to ride through some of the 37,000 acres of Paws Up. Finally, we made our way to the Blackfoot – the very same river we’d be married on in a few hours – so Aaron could fly fish and I could finish writing my vows. I’ll never forget the image of the river, the sunshine, the smile on Aaron’s face and the sand beneath my feet - simply magical! It was, and still is, one of the most peaceful and perfect moments. No stress, no running about, no outside noise. Just Aaron and Ingrid, on the Blackfoot, smiling in the sun and ready to embrace a life as husband and wife.”

The Celebration Dinner: For Ingrid and Aaron, Paws Up Resort goes above and beyond in every category, with food being their specialty! Aaron enjoyed an amazing Bison steak and the chef created a delicious vegetarian entrée for In-grid. Champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries capped off their wedding perfect day.

Mr and Mrs Moment: Ingrid and Aaron loved calling each other “husband” and “wife” and did proceeded to do so, the entire drive home from Montana to Boston!

Advice for RMB Brides: “To all future brides I would say this – ‘Do what is right for you and your partner. Do something that is completely and utterly YOU, no matter how off-the-beaten-path it may be. This is the beginning of your life together, so let this day inform how you want your future to unfold.”

Alexandra & Shanon west glacier

Alexandra and Shanon met at work and the connection was instant! Time spent outside of work quickly turned into more, but they kept

it a secret from their co-workers until it was too obvious they were a couple! On Christmas Eve, while gathered with the closest members

of their families, Shanon stood up for a toast and as he spoke he began to walk towards the couch and leaned in behind one of the cushions

to pull out “The Ring.” Everyone gasped and toasted in happiness as he kneeled down to ask Alexandra for her hand in marriage. Alexandra and Shanon couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate their new beginning,

than with a rustic July outdoor bash!

The Theme: Alexandra and Shanon wanted an outdoor, natural, and woodsy wedding. Alexandra wanted their design to include being in the mountains and adding in plants and animals that would be found in the area, like moss, driftwood and little gold figurines. They used a color palette of nature greens, dusty plum purple and gold to create their perfect woodland look.

The Dress: “I didn’t want your typical white wedding dress. I just didn’t feel that it was my style. I really liked the look of BHLDN’s dresses. I fell quickly in love with the Cypress Gown, designed by Tadashi Shoji, and was my first purchase of all the wedding items. I was engaged on the 24th of December of 2013 and purchased my dress in March of 2014, knowing I was getting married in 16 months...Crazy I know! I would receive emails from BHLDN showing off their new dresses and was scared to look at them, I did, but was still happy with my original choice. That dress was so comfortable the day of the wedding and paired with my wedge Tom’s, I was a very comfy bride.”

Page 35: Rocky Mountain Bride Montana Spring & Summer 2016

The Flowers: Alexandra loved the look of a green bouquet - the wild and loose design made her heart sing! She wanted all the floral to be a natural complement to Montana, so ferns and air plants paired with driftwood and moss table runners created the couple’s Montana woodland wedding feel! Alexandra still has the air plants on their kitchen window, which she looks at every day and is reminded of the that amazing wedding day!

The First Dance: The newlyweds danced to ‘Forever’ by Ben Harper. Shanon is a huge fan of Ben Harper, and wanted nothing more than for them to dance together to that song!

The Food: “Shanon and I are both big fans of prime rib so we couldn’t think of a better dinner item for our wedding night. We knew that a few people at our wedding weren’t big beef eaters so we also chose a grilled chicken item, which was just as delicious. I like to eat organic foods as much as possible, so when I discovered Riversong Gourmet and their local, organic menus, I was sold. The food was absolutely delicious. After hearing about everyone else’s wedding day, I didn’t think I would be able to eat, but I was able to eat everything on my plate.”

The Sweets: The couple chose a small three tier lemon cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. Guests also enjoyed a variety macarons - filled with lavender, vanilla and honey-butter cream sweetness.

Page 37: Rocky Mountain Bride Montana Spring & Summer 2016

The Favorite Detail: Alexandra just adored all of the items on the reception tables, like the centerpieces, votive candles and gold animals. It was the little things like that, when all together can make any place look magical!

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Every moment together was treasured.”

Advice for RMB Brides: “Planning ahead is key. I had 18 months to plan. Having more time also helps with being able to save money. Keeping track of all parts of the wedding in an excel file really lays things out, shows you what you need to focus on and when to pay vendors. I would also say that think of all of the little decorative things that can personalize your wed-ding. Those are the things that will stick out the most if pulled off correctly. Don’t be afraid to do what you want to do...It’s your day after all.”

Sierra & DJbozeman

Sierra and DJ had known each other since middle school, but their love story didn’t begin until high school. Going separate ways after

graduating put their relationship to the test. After many years of long distance dating, they decided that they could not imagine their lives

without each other. One day in November, DJ planned a day exploring the Texas ranch he managed and arrowhead hunting on their favorite bluff that overlooks the Rio Grande River. As they were packing their things to head back home, DJ got down on one knee, Sierra’s hand in his, and proposed! The couple said “I Do” with a August 8th outdoor

ceremony with all of their loved ones there to celebrate!

The Theme: Sierra and DJ wanted their wedding to be naturally elegant with a rustic flair and tons of fun! They used a color palette of natural blues and lavenders with pops of wildflower colors to design their ranch wedding.

The Dress: “The designer is Marisa. I was looking for a simple, sexy, Montana-themed dress I could wear with cowboy boots. To me, the dress was the perfect mix of vintage rustic with the lace over the mocha silk and the long button back. The sleek fit with the open back and sweetheart neckline made for the subtle hint of sexy.”

Page 54: Rocky Mountain Bride Montana Spring & Summer 2016

The Flowers: When it came to flowers, the couple wanted them to be colorful dainty details that added to the surrounding beauty of the mountains. Sierra left the flower choices up to the ladies of Lukas & Trudeau Event Co. She gave only the instruction of wanting wild flowers mixed in with bigger blooms on a loose and natural structure, and the couple couldn’t have been happier with the design!

The Favorite Detail: “The location was my absolute favorite part of the day but detail wise, I (as well as the guests) loved the mule bar. It was a super fun twist on a basic bar. The custom copper mugs were a huge hit and we will forever be brought back to our special day when we sip on our favorite drink.”

The First Dance: The newlyweds danced to ‘Thinking Out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran, preformed by The Tiny Band. The words fit the couple’s story perfectly!

The Food: “The food was AMAZING!! Ryan LaFoley and his team did an absolutely incredible job. We had tenderloin and salmon as a main course with an array of sides and appetizers. We also had late night pizza that the dancing guests loved. I have guests still telling me that it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. He really went above and beyond my expectations.”

The Sweets: For something sweet, the couple had a dessert bar filled with an assortment of pies, creme brûlée, tiramisu, cheese cakes, carrot cake, tarts and fresh berries and whipped cream - the groom’s favorite!

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “That moment the next day when we were checking in at the hotel on our honeymoon and the receptionist said “Welcome to St. Regis Mr. and Mrs. Brask”. That’s when reality really sunk in. After the months of planning and the craziness of the wedding day this is what it’s all about. Finding your best friend and becoming one.”

Advice for RMB Brides: “Be at ease with the changing mountainous weather. The surroundings are ab-solutely breathtaking no matter the kind of day. The perfect sunny days often times don’t make for great memories, and the best sunsets happen after a good rain.”

Jacqueline & Jaren belgrade

Jaren and Jacqueline met while volunteering at a local Duck’s Unlimited Banquet. Jaren got up the courage to ask Jacqueline for her number at the follow-ing year’s banquet, and soon they quickly became friends. Before Christmas, Jaren mustered up the courage to ask Jacqueline to be his girlfriend. Excited, surprised and a bit panicked, Jacqueline quickly changed the subject. Jaren perceived the subject change as rejection and the pair grew apart. After finding

out they were going to be in Seattle for their jobs, the pair reconnected at a Mariner’s baseball game together and sparks flew! They officially started dating shortly after. When Jacqueline accepted a full-time position in Portland, Jaren made the big leap and moved with her and never looked back! One day in April, Jaren surprised Jacqueline while they were on one of their favorite hikes overlooking Portland and popped the question! The pair couldn’t

think of a more perfect place to say “I Do” than with friends and family on a July19th summer day!

The Theme: Jacqueline and Jaren planned a charming and elegant wedding, with a touch of rustic. They wanted their colors to complement Holy Rosary and Springhill Pavilions, so they had various shades of pinks and blushes, with gold accents to create their dream day. Jacqueline didn’t want her bridesmaids to look and feel too uniform, so they wore varying shades of blushes and pinks and each had a different jewelry look!

The Dress: “I went shopping at a few different bridal stores in Portland, but ultimately found my Justin Alexander dress at Charlotte’s Bridal. I knew I wanted something unique, with cap sleeves, a dramatic back and a train. This dress has it all! I also found a beautiful cathedral veil at Charlotte’s that looked perfect with my dress. It was a very special shopping trip as my mom, twin sisters (Maids of Honor) and grandma were able to join me and help me choose.”

The Flowers: Much of Jacqueline’s wedding and floral inspiration came from their wedding invitations which were designed by BHLDN for Wedding Paper Divas. She showed the invitations to their florist, who created the most beautiful flower arrangements, bouquets and corsages that tied together the couple’s wedding design. She also made beautiful wreaths for the Pavilion doors, flowers for the aisles in the church, and their centerpieces.

Page 60: Rocky Mountain Bride Montana Spring & Summer 2016

The Favorite Detail: “All of our DIY touches! Our family helped paint more than 300 wine bottles gold, which we used for centerpieces as vases for the flowers and candlesticks. We created a rag garland to hang, added glittery flags to floral straws, paint-ed wooden signs, added gold Montana touches to our toasting flutes, and made menus for the place settings. I created ‘Mr. & Mrs.’ signs for the back of our chairs. My mom sewed the Ring Bearer’s pillow with Alencon lace that matched the trim on my veil and I hand-wrote all of our invitations in fun handwriting. Since all of these projects were personally made by our loved ones and us, they helped make the wedding feel even more special and charming.”

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Our favorite moment of the entire day and night (in addition to the “I Do’s”) was near the end of the night when our amazing band played ‘Chasing Cars’ by Snow Patrol. After all of the day’s happenings it was a moment we had together when it felt like we were alone, living in the moment, and enjoying every second. Our day was full of happiness with a few tears, but we got a little emotional when dancing to that song.”

The Food: Jacqueline and Jaren had food and drink as one of their main priorities when it came to planning their wedding. For cocktail hour, guest enjoyed imported and domestic cheese boards, fresh fruit platters, cold cuts and various hors d’oeuvre. For dinner, they had chicken with broccoli in a Boursin cream sauce, marinated tri-tip steak, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus with lemon and sea salt, spring greens with champagne vinaigrette and French rolls with butter. The couple’s signature drink was a huckleberry vodka and lemonade. It was perfectly refreshing for the warm summer weather.

The Sweets: “Our traditional wedding cake was funfetti with butter cream frosting, a favorite of Jaren and mine. We also had traditional Basque wedding cake (my heritage) made by my family and a traditional Norwegian cake (Jaren’s heritage) made by his family. And if that wasn’t enough, Montana-shaped sugar cookie and Bequet caramels.”

Advice for RMB Brides: “Don’t sweat the small stuff, be organized and ask for help. I wasn’t sure how I would feel on the actual wedding day, but because I had been organized leading up to it and I had the right help in place, little went ‘wrong’ for me to worry about on my big day. However, even with all the organization and help in the world, some things will likely not go as planned, but don’t let it ruin your day. Even though the two Basque wedding cakes my family and I had made ended up collapsing before the reception began, it didn’t matter! The most important part of the day is that you’re marrying the person you love, and everything will fall into place.”

Anna & Tom pray

Anna and Tom met the first day of college at Montana State University while moving into their dorms. They were introduced by a friend’s parent who actually introduced Anna’s parents to each other back in the day! Anna and Tom became close friends immediately, but did not start dating until their senior year, despite Tom’s constant attempts over the prior three years! After graduating, Anna headed to Minnesota for Medical school, while Tom landed his dream job as a Hunting and Fishing Guide in the Beartooth Mountains, and the two began their long-distance relationship! During Anna’s third year of Medical School while on a visit to Montana, Tom planned a day trip to the mountains for some

hiking and fishing. They rode horses up to a stunning lake to enjoy some leisure with their pup, Ruby. After their picnic lunch, Tom convinced Anna to play fetch with Ruby using a tennis ball. After a few throws, Anna noticed that the ball was making noise, and to her

surprise, Tom opened the ball to reveal a ring! When thinking about where to get married, the two couldn’t think of a more beautiful place to say “I Do” than Paradise Valley! On a

gorgeous June 6th, friends and family came from all over to celebrate with Anna and Tom!

The Theme: Anna and Tom designed a rustic elegant look for their day. Their celebration was a destination wedding for most all the guests, so they really wanted to highlight the beauty of Montana and the Paradise Valley, while still making their day an unforgettable affair. They used a color palette of dusty gray, blue, blush, cream and green accents to complete the or their grand design.

The Flowers: When it came to the floral, Anna knew she wanted beautiful blooms, and left all the details to the talented Lukas Trudeau Event Co. to create her wedding day look!

The Dress: “ Oh, I did love my dress!! I wanted something light, romantic and flowy and found all of that in my Jacinda Watters dress!”

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Our vows and our guests! We wrote our own, and I love how real and meaningful they turned out. I was the most personal and emotional part of our ceremony. Many of our guests said it was the favorite part of our wedding too! Since Tom and I are from different parts of the country, getting all of our favorite people together was truly the best part of the weekend! We also had a tree planting ceremony instead of a candle or sand ceremony. The best part is that a piece of our wedding day will be planted at our new house!”

The Favorite Detail: Anna had a lot of loves when it came to her wedding day details! She was smitten with the ceremony space, looking over the Paradise Valley where Tom and her had many adventures together. She adored their wedding invitations that incorporated a friend’s photo of Paradise Valley. She loved their wedding photo wall and all the amazing things Cast Calligraphy created for the wedding day! With so much love, it’s easy to tell that Anna and Tom had an amazing day.

The Food: “Chico Hot Springs Resort had amazing food! There were appetizers and specialty cocktails for our cocktail hour. For dinner, we did a family-style menu because I love the social aspect it brings to dining! And everyone raved about the food and how much fun they had at their tables! Guest could try a bit of everything - there was prime rib, rosemary chicken and salmon paired with garlic mash potatoes and asparagus.”

The Sweets: Anna and Tom had a fun assortment of shot-sized cupcakes from LUXE for guests to try. Anna tells us that they were a hit and went fast! Some of the fan favorites were the Southern Gentleman, Noir, Il Noce and Crème Brûlée - yum!

The First Dance: The newlywed’s danced to ‘How Sweet It Is’ by James Taylor. Anna and Tom listened to James Taylor a lot when they were falling in love, and the song was just so light and sweet that it seemed perfect for them.

Page 76: Rocky Mountain Bride Montana Spring & Summer 2016

Advice for RMB Brides: “ We LOVED having our wedding at a resort because all our guests stayed there on site. This allowed us to spend a whole weekend with our guest and that was truly the most memorable part of our wedding - the time we got to spend with everyone!! There will be a hiccup or two during the day, but your guests likely won’t notice or know the difference! Pick your priorities because you can’t (well I couldn’t) invest the energy, time and money into every detail! I invested my time and money into the big priorities, and then felt comfortable delegating the other elements of the day!”

the perks

Glacier Under Canvas is located 7 miles from the breathtaking Glacier National Park where peaks touch the sky, glaciers move the earth, waterfalls carve the rock, and wildlife roam as freely as they always have. Once you’ve spent your day experiencing the beauty and adventure of the Park, you can return to your luxury camping tent and unwind in style. Our luxurious Glacier National Park lodging offers you the opportunity to enjoy the wild without giving up the comforts of home. This is not camping as you know it.

This is camping as it should be. Welcome to Montana glamping.

Montana vacations are not complete without sleeping under the stars. As great as that sounds, we know that can also sound like a lot of work. Instead of looking at hotels near Glacier National Park, Under Canvas invites you to check out their luxury camp. With seven adventurous options that’ll sure to please, you’ll be sure to get the full experience with Glacier Under Canvas. The Safari tents include a king sized bed and a wood burning stove that’ll set the mood for cuddling up with your honey. The Safari tents are just a short walk away from our luxury bathroom facilities, which house individual, private bathrooms. These units each have hot running water, showers, flushing toilets, sinks and spa products. In the Deluxe you can enjoy privacy, your own en suite bathroom, complete with running water and raised wood floors stretching out to a private deck with lounge chairs to share some star-gazing moments. The Suite might be the most luxurious Glacier National Park honeymoon lodging option you will find in West Glacier! Suites have all the amenities of our Deluxe tent plus a private bathroom, lounge area and a more secluded, sheltered location with amazing views! For more

information visit, undercanvas.com.

First and foremost, Glacier National Park! Experience Glacier’s pristine forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountains, and spectacular lakes. With over 700 miles of trails, you can hike to your heart’s content. Or take a drive to the Sun Road, one of the most beautiful drives in the country. You’ll cross the Continental Divide, climb up to 7000 feet on Logan Pass and fill up your camera roll before you know it! Built in the 1930s, it’s a marvel of engineering. After the scenic drive, make sure you dig out your fishing pole and walk to the lake right next door to Camp and cast a line or explore some of the best fishing in the world within a few minutes drive. Under Canvas can also arrange for one of their local guides to take you by boat or foot to find the perfect spot. Complete your Montana getaway with a

romantic horseback ride at sunset!
