OHSA was required by the Federal Government to develop a regulation covering activities ….. that involve Hazardous Materials
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response {29 CFR 1910.120}
This Regulation is known as:

(40 CFR 310) Mandating “ALL” persons working with chemicals’ have to be covered regardless of their employment status
Legislative Intent Was to ensure that hazards of All Chemicals, before they are used in the workplace
Intent was also to ensure that information concerning chemical hazards
Safety Data Sheet Employees have certain rights
are tested and valuated,
when dealing with exposure or potential exposure of hazardous substance
are “TRANSMITTED” to affected employee.

RTK Training “Must” be given to new or resigned employees with-in 30 days.
Requirements & Responsibility
Employers have up to 6 month to get qualified personal
(Outside qualified trained responders
Class size, No more then 25 people is recommended
to cover chemical emergency at your facility
or qualify responders in house)
The Major goals of a Right To Know Program To make sure employers and employees, know how to work with hazard chemical safely
Remember “YOU” are always # 1 So based on the concept that all employees, have the “right “ and also “need” to know about all the chemical hazards they work with
