RetirementLCdrDaphneCunningham(neeDale),CD–LogSea1.LCdrCunninghamwillretireon16August2016after25yearsofadventurefilledservicewithallthreebranches(RCN,CA,andRCAF)andworkingatthetacticaltostrategiclevel.2.Daphnejoinedon6June1991fromSaskatoonandcompletedbasicinChilliwack.ShespenttwoyearsattheRoyalRoadsMilitaryCollegeinVictoriaandgraduatedinMay1995fromtheRoyalMilitaryCollegeinKingston.UpongraduationshewaspostedtoVictoriaasaNavalLogisticsOfficerwiththerequiredtripstoBordenfortraining.WhileontheWestCoast,shehadthegreatpleasureofsailingonboardHMCSANNAPOLIS,HMCSPROTECTEUR,HMCSALGONQUINandHMCSVANCOUVER(twice)toexoticlocationsofHawaii,Guam,Korea,Singapore,andIndonesia.AshorepostingsincludedMARPACandCANFLTPACwithtraveltoAustraliaandNewZealandastheForwardLogisticsOfficerforHMCSCALGARY.3.In2001sheadventuredinlandtotheJointSupportGroup(JSG)inKingston.Duringthistime,shehadsometaskingsanddeployments:LogisticsOfficerfortheDARTWarehouseinTrenton(sixmonths),LogisticsOfficerfortheForwardLiaisonTeamtotheCombinedTaskForce-150inBahrain(Oct-Dec2002),andCampMirageOperationsOfficer(Jan-Mar2003).ThenextdesertadventurewastheMissionDrawdownTeamtoKabul(Jun-Oct2004),whichwasafantasticteamandacastofcharacters.SheremainedattheJSGunderthesupervisionoftheWarlockandtrainedwiththeCovenuntil2005thenattendedayearlongFrenchcourse.In2006DaphnehadtopaythepiperforalltheadventuresandwaspostedtoOttawaattheNavyStafftoDirectorMaritimeMaterielOperationalSupport(nowDirectorNavalLogistics).4.Acareerhighlightcamein2009beingStaffOfficertotheChiefoftheDefenceStaffGeneralNatynczyk,whereshealsohadagreatopportunitytobetheLiaisonOfficerfortheAfghanistanChristmasRoadShow.Alsoin2009shemarriedaTACHELAEREOfficerresultinginmanypostings.In2010DaphnewenttoEdmontonastheG1andHQCOfortheAreaSupportGroup(now3CdnDivSupportGroup).In2011shewastheStaffOfficertotheChiefofStaffat1CanadianAirDivisioninWinnipeg,whichresultedinaSeaLogOfficersupportinganArmyVanDootosupporttheAirForceHQ.In2012offtotheCanadianForcesCollegeinToronto,butwasactuallyonmaternityleavewiththearrivalofherfirstdaughterinSeptember.2013itwasbacktoOttawaintheNavalStaffDirectorNavalRequirements,whichwascutshortbythearrivalofherseconddaughterinApril2014.Herfinalpostingwasin2015toDirectorNavalStrategy.5.Ithasbeenacrazyadventuregoingaroundtheworldandmeetinggreatfolksateverystop.Daphne,husbandLColWesCunningham,andthegirls(WynneandLiv)aremovingtoKingstonon20Jul,whereWeswillbethe1WingA4andHQCO,andDaphnewillcompleteschoolingforthehomebusinessinwebdesignandenjoytimewiththegirls.6.Aninformalsocialgatheringoffriends,family,andcolleagueswilltakeplaceon11JulyatHMCSBytownfrom1330-1630hrs.Confirmationofattendance,wellwishes/anecdotes,andcontributionstoaretirementgiftarerequestedby6JulyandcanbesenttoCdrBMcIntyre(barb.mcintyre@forces.gc.ca).
