A. Farmgate Price of Palay

Farmgate price of palay declines further during the week

The average farmgate price ofpalay continued its downtrend as it P,~e

decreased further to PhP 16.84/kgor by 1.5 percent during theperiod, from its level ofPhP 17.1O/kg in the previousweek. Meanwhile, it went up at anannual rate of 5.7 percent, from itsaverage price of PhP 15.94/kg inthe same week of the previousyear. (Table 1 and Figure 1)

B. Farmgate Prices of Yellow and White Corngrains

Farmgate price of yellow corngrain continues to drop while that ofwhite corngrain picks up this week

On the other hand, the averagefarmgate price of white corngrainrose to PhP 13.24/kg or by0.5 percent during the week, fromits previous week's level ofPhP 13.18/kg. On an annualbasis, it plunged, however, at anannual rate of 5.8 percent relativeto its average price ofPhP 14.06/kg during the sameperiod of the previous year.(Table 2 and Figure 3)

Downward movements are recorded in the wholesale and retailprices of well milled rice during the week

The average wholesale price ofwell milled rice dipped further toPhP 38.35/kg or by 0.2 percentduring the week, compared withits previous week's level ofPhP 38.42/kg. Meanwhile, itsprice level gained at an annualrate of 0.3 percent, from itsaverage price of PhP 38.25/kgduring the same period of theprevious year. (Table 1 andFigure 4)

The average retail price of wellmilled rice shrank to PhP 42.11/kgor by 0.3 percent this week,relative to its level ofPhP 42.24/kg in the previousweek. Similarly, it decreased at anannual rate of 0.02 percent, fromits price level of PhP 42.12/kg inthe same week of the previousyear. (Table 1 and Figure 5)
