UBA FUNDED PROJECT INAGURAL AT ARUNKUNDRAM VILLAGE

C-10224 – AARUPADAI VEEDU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,

PAIYANOOR, CHENNAI

Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan scheme has

received funds for two projects; DC micro grid based solar PV generation to supply power to

street lamp and Fabrication and Installation of Seed balls production equipment. It Inaugural

was held at Arunkundram Village on 19th Feb 2020.

Arunkundram Village is located in Thiruporur block, Kanchipuram District of Tamil

Nadu State,India. It is located 15 Km from Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology. It has

total population of 1056.

AVIT UBA team has identified an Irular colony where certain basic services to be

found withdrawn and one such is Street lamp. Hence 4 street lamps were installed at Anna

Nagar, Irular colony with 30 residences. Dr. K. L. Shunmuganathan, Principal, AVIT,

presided over the function and addressed the people about the future plans to be implemented

for their upliftment. The principal also thanked the faculties and students of EEE department

for their successful completion of the project.The Special Invitees for the Event are Mr. S.

Rajasekaran, Deputy Block Development Officer and Mr. S. Nithyanandhan, Secretary of

Thiruporur town Panchayat Union. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. S. P.

Sangeetha, VP (academics), Prof. P. Rajasekaran Vice-principal (Admin), Dr. L. Chitra,

HOD/EEE, AVIT, Dr. B.Prabasheela, UBA Co-ordinator AVIT and other faculty members,

students and the villagers of Arunkundram. Dr. K.L. Shunmuganathan, Principal, AVIT,

opened the Plaque, that depict about the funding agency, title, cost etc. He also brought the

facility into operation by lighting the street lamp. The team were exhilarated to see the bliss

among the tribes.

Handing over Seed ball producing equipment to Women self help group of Arunkundram

was held on 19th Feb 2020 in continuation of solar street lamp inaugural. Dr. K. L.

Shunmuganathan, Principal, AVIT addressed the people and also highlighted the involvement

of AVIT in social activities. He also applauded the Students of department of Mechanical

Engineering and Mr.Fedal Castro, Asst.Professor for the successful completion of the project

that would strengthen the rural women's livelihood for a sustainable economic development.
