We had a total of 94 people show up throughout the day on Sat, April 14 to help with our 2012 Annual

Canal & Land area cleanup. We had 2 youth groups consisting of 19 volunteers from Holy Family Scout Troop # 263 and 39 volunteers from Brighton Prep School that did excellent jobs cleaning wherever we assigned them. Aaron, Toni Lynn, Sam & Ben Sharpe from Pasadena Bear Creek showed up to help, and along with 32 volunteers

from our neighborhood, managed to collect 3,637.5 lbs of trash & debris from our area. From that total amount, we separated 163.2 lbs of glass and 39.8 lbs of plastic into bins that were picked up for recycling by WSI, and I recycled 314.5 lbs of assorted

metals at Big 3 Recycling on 118th Ave, leaving a total of 3,120 lbs, 1.56 tons, of actual trash and debris in the 2 city dumpsters. The total number of volunteer hours worked that day turned out to be 352 hours. “Special Thanks For That Extra Effort” go out to the Crow family, Toni Michalove, the Phipps family, the Intravichit family, Ingrid Busselle, William Tang, the Sharpe family, the 19 from Boy Scout Troop 263, and to Debby Obst & Brighton Prep for coordinating 39 volunteers that helped that day, Thanks also to the city (Terese Hilliard) for coordinating

What a total “Blast Off” we all had!! I Refuse To Grow Up And You Can’t Make Me!!

I’m telling you right now, if it had enough seats, I would have taken everybody in the neighborhood along with us as we rode our 500hp 31ft Stainless Steel Rocket Ship Car to victory in the Grand Prix Illuminated Night parade. We “blasted” off in seven different colors and captured $250 for “Best Illuminated” and $250 for “Best Overall” in the parade. The rocket ship was originally used as an amusement park swing/ride in Cleveland. Snowbird Joe Tamaro put the body on a truck chassis, added a 500hp engine, and rents it out down in Florida during our winter months. He gave me a great rental deal, and thanks to Toni Michalove supplying the beads again for free, after expenses we made almost $400 for the
