RCO PROJECTS (2012)

Ramaphunye Charity Organisation is a non-profit organisation formed to provide unique and meaningful charitable programming for all children, destitute and the elderly. Our organisation adopts existing Orphanages and helps them to raise funds and to collect old clothes from our friends and our community to donate to various Orphanages. We also donate food to the families that are living with poverty within our community. We started operating on Mandela day in 2012 where we volunteered together with SAPS and Forever Young Golf Club (FYGC) in painting and cleaning Siyafunda Haven and Day Care Centre, we proceeded to Tiyani Disability Day and Night Care Centre where we donated clothes that we collect from our friends, families and community. We also visited Phumlani Orphanage

where we donated clothes and decided to adopt it as our 1st orphanage. We volunteer in helping them to raise funds, administration and helping in taking care of the kids. Mandela day 2012

Phumlani Project Orphanage Then our team (RCO) proceeded to Phumlani Project Orphanage where we played with the kids and donated clothes. It was then that we decided to adopt Phumlani to help them to raise funds, to care for the kids at the Day Care and to help them with admin as they don’t have an office. There are two elderly couple that is leaving with 16 Orphans in their residential home and they also have a day care centre where they accommodation kids from poor families and kids that are infected and affected with HIV.

We had a fundraising on the 1st of September 2012 and the 3rd of Nov 2012. The attached posters and pictures are a prim fate to the work that we have done. The challenges we had in this event, as that we didn’t have enough resources thus we had to use out pockets funds and assistance from the community. On both events we worked with our local comedians who volunteered to wash cars and later on we had comedy show with dj’s and other artists. Our aim is to raise funds and distribute it amongst orphanages, to buy school uniform for atleast 20 kids who are less privileged within our community and to make food parcels for 10 families. All 3 orphanages also care for children from poor families and children that are infected and affected by HIV in their community. We are willing to work hard to raise these funds. We are working with other organisations to motivate school children, especially teenagers and to empower women. We are also working with Soshanguve Rugby and K sporting (soccer team) aiming to keep the kids away from the streets. Though are main objective is to fight poverty, we also have to teach our community to stand for themselves and obtain skills. We work again with Sizanani Community Project fighting against HIV and Aids RCO have managed to raise food worth 50 thousand Rands from different companies as our project for Mandela day. We are proud to say we have donated food, sponges, blankets, gas stoves, chairs, tables and toys amongst 3 Orphanages in Soshanguve. That is Bambanani Orphanage, Phumlani Orphanage and Khaya Lami Lethemba and also donated food parcels to 8 families within our community.

2. W e also working on opening a feeding scheme for the kids Block K and also in Block LKK as we have noticed that there are lots of child-headed families.

RCO has also partnered with Divas In Motion Co-operative in Campaign called “Pledge a Brick”, where we are trying to get donation of a brick where the brick is at R1 cost. The motivation behind the campaign is to build a house to 1 of the child-headed family where RCO donated food parcels to and to extend our help in building a proper structure for the Orphanages. Our goal is to open a community centre where we will be running feeding scheme, empower children and women, where our community will go when they need any kind of help. We also want to start projects that will bring in cash in the Centres that we have adopted so that they can sustain themselves. We want to work together as a community to make a difference. It really takes a village to raise a child.
