Don’t Forget to Bring: Name Tag Completed Covers for Kids quilts December 5, 2019, 7:15 p.m. Congregation Shearith Israel 9401 Douglas Avenue, Dallas, TX 75225 Guild Meeting Speaker – Doris Deutmeyer Lecture: Picture This! – Photo to Wall Are you ready to try something new? Do you have a favorite photo from a vacation or special place you would like to make into a quilt; but don’t know where to begin? Inspiration is everywhere; but good composition is key. Raw edge appliqué and creative display techniques will make your next art quilt fabulous. This is a slide show filled with easy techniques and inspiration. Doris is a lifelong artist, teacher, and designer loving all things art, fabric, and landscape. She has a BA in Art Education and is a former Elementary Art teacher having taught all age levels. Her home based business, Fabrications by Doris, has evolved into a line of self-published fused raw edge landscapes and mini quilt patterns. Her newest addition to her online store and booths at sewing/quilt expos is landscape quilting fabric offering hard to find landscape elements. Her busy life includes sharing a farming business with her husband, Don, four grown sons, eight grandchildren. For more information about Doris, her workshops, patterns, kits, and landscape quilting fabric visit https://fabricationsbydoris.com/wpsite/ We can’t go wrong by following her Philosophy: Stay connected to the earth, it is our greatest teacher. Traditional quilt patterns have stories to tell about our roots. Knowledge about our roots helps to give us direction. Fabric has always been an essential element in most women’s lives.
