History of Bellekeno Mine

Silver and lead were first discovered in the Keno Hill area in 1919. United Keno Hill Mines opened up Keno Mine in 1920 and it ran until 1989. There were many small adits and placer mining operations in the area as well, some continue to this day. In 2006 Alexco Resources acquired rights to the area and reopened Bellekeno Mine in 2008. Procon was previously on site in the mid-90’s conducting dewatering, rehab work, ramp development, and diamond drilling.

Camp Life Update

Rotation: 3 weeks in and 3 weeks out.

Manpower: In the trades there are 4 mechanics, an electrician, and a master mechanic per rotation. In development there are 20 miners on site split into day shift and night shift working 11 hour days. Also on site are a superintendent (Dave Rivers/Dave MacDonald) and a safety officer (Chris Koebel)

With almost 24 hours of daylight, the workers are taking full advantage of it; many go for hikes, fishing down the valley at the lake and relaxing in the hot springs after a hard day’s work. There is plenty of wildlife around camp and the surrounding areas. Moose, bears, wolves, fox's, porcupines, beavers, and lots of different birds are seen daily.

Aerial shots of the CAT (Construction Access Tunnel) and MAT (Main Access Tunnel) entrances. New to the Forrest Kerr s ite are two E class Atlas Copco 4-Boom Jumbos (3 drilling booms and one man basket). This model of jumbo, a 2008 vintage machine, is a state-of-the-art jumbo with Advanced Boom Control and Tunnel Manager Software. Each jumbo has the capability of being fully automated or semi-automated with operator guidance. Forrest Kerr has opted to be semi-automatic with the operator having full manual control of the booms. Drill patterns are created on the computer through the Tunnel Manager Software and the information is sent to the drill. The drill hole positions and distances are shown on the display in the fully enclosed operator’s cab; from the cab the operator lines up the booms with the pattern on the screen and collars the holes. The machine is incredibly accurate down to the last centimeter and squares off the face with each round. The jumbo also has a built in navigation system complete with prisms to line itself up on the tunnel l ine.

Wolverine, YT Overview

Owner: Yukon Zinc Corp. Location: 190km North of Watson Lake, YT Mine Start Date: 2006 Procon Start Date: 2005 Resource: Zinc/Copper/Lead Procon’s Role: U/G Development & Production Procon Personnel on Site: 111 During Q2 of 2011 the team at the Wolverine Project has been working diligently towards our goal of seeing the Wolverine Mine reach its production target of 1700/tpd. The project has drastically increased its manpower by 50% since April 1st!! The Wolverine Project is getting ready to further ramp up with the following projects: new offices including a 3 bay mechanical shop, installation of paste lines, constructing multiple bulkheads underground, constructing a shotcrete plant, and decommissioning the old office and shop facilities. With an increase like this comes a new set of challenges. However, the foremost important goal to the crews and management of Wolverine is to work with the highest degree of safety; from ensuring proper equipment training is being performed, to educating and enforcing the need to report near misses. This message was conveyed during a “safety stand down day” all the crews received. The stand down day was to realign the project focus and to stress to the crews that safety is the most important goal to both Procon and Yukon Zinc. One might ask a Wolverine employee “how are you going to do this?” Their reply would be summed up in two words: “TEAM WORK!” Having said all that, the Wolverine team would like to introduce our two newest members, First, our new Project/Area Manager Jaime Delgado. Jaime brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will without a doubt be very beneficial to helping us reach our overall goals. Second we would like to introduce our new Safety Officer, Bob McLean. Bob joins us from the QR Project where he was also a Safety Officer. Welcome to both Jaime and Bob!

In addition to the main shop there is a satellite shop a few minutes away that focuses on manufacturing the Jeffrey. Prior to any mining equipment arriving on site, it is brought into Procon’s shop in Nisku where the Heavy Equipment Division conducts a complete inspection and evaluation of each piece of equipment. All necessary repairs are conducted here, prior to site mobilization, to bring the machines into peak performance condition for arrival at site. The Heavy Equipment Division also dispatches mechanics from the Nisku shop to the sites to assist with the onsite mechanics with assembly and, when necessary, troubleshooting. In addition to commissioning in-house equipment, the Heavy Equipment Division does third party work including: quality repair and rebuild/overhaul services for the mining, industrial, construction, pipeline, and forestry industries. Their team of highly s killed and experienced staff perform minor repairs to complete overhauls on a large range of machinery

Industrial Division, Saskatoon, SK Overview

Location: Saskatoon, SK Division Start Date: 1997 Departments: Operations, Safety, Estimating, and Administration Procon Personnel: 60 This year’s second quarter at Potashcorp’s Allan Mine has been very busy. We have been preparing for the upcoming shutdown which is scheduled to run from August until mid-November. The following are some of the projects from Q2 : • Alpine work has been ongoing with cutting floor and

stubs in various locations. • We did some more blasting at the conveyance shaft

that went very well. • A night shift crew was brought in to do cleaning in the

production shaft headframe prior to surface contractors beginning their work.

• The floor grating in the conveyance shaft was replaced with checkerplate. There was approximately 80’ of landings to replace.

• Work has continued on installing the load out conveyor system. The tail end jib and counterweight are installed. This also involved the installation of pulleys, gearboxes, and motors.

• We replaced the load cells on the weigh bins in production shaft.

• A total of 41 yards of concrete were poured around the production shaft. This concrete will support the upper hitch beams which in turn support the tower steel for the shaft and steel for the loading pocket.

• There has been a lot of labor intensive work involving hand chipping and shoveling muck. Thanks to all crews for the extra effort.

For the upcoming shutdown we will be running three crews of 18-20 men on a 4 week by 2 week rotation. The PCS ALLAN site supervision consists of: General Supt. / Projects Manger. – Nick Doyle Site Supt. - Grant Nyuli Site Safety – Steve Stapley, Keith Edwards Senior Estimator - Bruce Blandy Supervisors - Steve Boychuk, Epherm Belhumeur, Mark Hardy Munro, and Derek Peever.

Burnaby Golf Tournament For the first time since 2008, Procon Head Office held a golf tournament “rain or shine” on June 18 2011. Not surprising that it turned out to be a “rain” and not “shine” event but everyone was in good spirits and had a lot of fun. This year, things were done a little differently; we asked that vendors contribute donations instead of prizes. All donations were given to “Variety-The Children’s Charity”. From vendors, staff, and contest entry fees, we managed to raise a total of $16,313.00! We would like to thank everyone that participated in the golf tournament and donated! We hope to raise even more next year!

After a long audit process this winter the results came back at the end of June with a passing mark of 91% !!! Thank you to all who were involved with the process. The next step is to achieve COR certification Procon-wide. Procon’s Corporate Safety Department has started conducting internal site specific audits of Procon’s Health and Safety Management System. The purpose of the internal audit is to identify areas of concern and deficiencies within the safety program which will provide critical feedback to help us improve the system. The first internal audit has already been conducted at Wolverine Mine and the second one has been scheduled at Roy Lloyd for mid-September...stay tuned for an audit coming to your site in the near future!

Update from Procon’s Corporate Safety Department Procon would like to welcome Jon Miller into the role of Corporate Safety and Training Officer at head office.
