All!about!us:!

Our!school!is!spread!over!two!large!buildings!with!extensive!grounds.!!!We!are!fortunate!to!have!a!large!amount!of!space,!which!has!allowed!!us!to!develop!a!new!purpose\built!Foundation!Stage!Unit!which!!opened!in!September!2011!and!a!pre\school!which!opened!in!!September!2012.!The!school!grounds!have!been!adapted!to!provide!valuable!resource!!areas!in!which!the!children!can!learn!and!play.!These!include!a!!woodland!area,!garden,!pond,!adventure!trail,!chicken!enclosure!and!!large!field.!!

!!!!!!!!!!!The!school!follows!the!advice!on!admissions!issued!by!the!Local!Authority.!In!summary!this!is!as!!!!!!!!!!!follows:!

The7PreGSchool7

The!Pre\school!is!currently!registered!for!8!children/session.!!We!will!admit!children!into!the!pre\school!as!soon!as!they!are!2!if!there!is!space.!Children!cannot!start!Pre\school!unless!they!have!reached!their!second!birthday.!!Free!funding!is!available!for!some!families!and!can!be!accessed!via!the!Frodsham!Children’s!centre.!!Parents!are!entitled!to!choose!from!a!range!of!options!on!which!sessions!they!attend.!!Sessions!that!are!funded!will!be!allocated!to!best!meet!the!needs!of!the!child!in!consultation!with!the!parent.!!Parents!need!to!sign!up!each!term!in!advance!for!the!sessions!they!require.!!Additional!sessions!can!be!booked!through!the!school!office!as!long!as!our!staff:!child!ratios!can!be!met!and!the!numbers!do!not!exceed!8/session.!

The7Nursery!

The!nursery!has!a!limit!of!26!children!per!session.!We!will!admit!children!into!the!Nursery!at!different!times!during!the!school!year!if!there!is!space.!Children!cannot!start!Nursery!unless!they!have!reached!their!third!birthday.!Free!funding!starts!the!term!after!a!child!is!3.!Any!child!starting!at!the!age!of!3!will!have!to!pay!for!any!session!attended!until!the!free!funding!starts.!We!will!attempt!to!admit!all!the!children!who!wish!to!attend.!However,!where!this!exceeds!the!number!of!places!available,!we!will!offer!places!in!the!first!instance!to!children!taking!up!their!full!15!hours!entitlement.!Parents!are!entitled!to!choose!from!a!range!of!options!on!how!they!prefer!to!take!their!free!15!hours!entitlement!over!the!week;!this!can!be!5!morning!sessions,!over!2.5!days!or!3!full!days!with!charges!for!the!lunch!session.!We!offer!up!to!10!full!time!places!with!charges!applicable!for!the!additional!hours.!Parents!need!to!sign!up!each!term!in!advance!for!the!sessions!they!require.!Additional!sessions!can!be!booked!through!the!school!office.!

The7Primary7School!

In!Cheshire!West!and!Chester,!all!children!start!school!in!the!September!prior!to!their!fifth!birthday.!The!school!has!an!admission!number!set!by!the!Local!Authority,!which!currently!stands!at!27.!The!school!will!admit!children,!irrespective!of!the!area!in!which!they!reside,!up!to!the!admission!number.!Currently,!the!Local!Authority!handles!all!admissions!to!Reception.!For!more!information!on!how!to!gain!a!place!at!the!school,!please!contact!the!school!office.!The!school!handles!in!year!admissions!using!the!criteria!outlined!below.!!

Where!the!number!of!children!wishing!to!attend!the!school!exceeds!the!admission!number!the!Local!Authority!will!offer!places!according!to!the!following!criteria.!

Those!families!who!have!selected!this!school!as!their!first!choice!and:!1. Live!within!the!catchment!area!of!the!school.!!2. Live!outside!the!catchment!area!of!the!school!with!older!brothers!and!sisters!already!attending!the!school.!!3. Live!outside!the!area!but!live!closest!to!the!school.!!The!parents!of!any!child!who!is!unable!to!gain!a!place!in!the!school!have!the!right!to!appeal!and!details!of!this!and!any!further!clarification!of!the!admission!policy!may!be!obtained!from!the!Admissions!Team.!

Kingsley!Community!Primary!School!benefits!from!having!its!own!nursery.! Children!are!able!to!take!up!places!from!the!age!of!3.! Free!funding!starts!the!term!after!a!child!is!3.!Children!are!welcome!to!attend!nursery!sessions!before!the!free!funding!starts!and!there!is!a!charge!for!this:!approximately!£3.85/hour.! The!children!are!entitled!to!15!hours!of!free!Nursery!education,!which!can!be!taken!flexibly!in!a!variety!of!ways:!

a)! 5!morning!sessions!(9.00\\\\12.00pm)!b)! 3!full!days!(with!3x!chargeable!lunch!!!!!!sessions!and!¾!hour!chargeable/week)!!

Additional!sessions!(chargeable)!are!also!available!to!provide!full!day!care!if!required.!

!The!Nursery!is!staffed!by!a!Nursery!Teacher:!Mrs!Kelly,!who!is!assisted!by!Mrs!Burrow,!our!Teaching!Assistant.!

!The!aim!of!the!Nursery!Staff!is!to!create!a!rich!learning!environment!that!will!build!on!the!wealth!of!experiences!gained!from!home!or!pre\school.!It!is!hoped!that!by!stimulating!the!children’s!interests!they!will!want!to!learn!and!will!develop!an!enquiring!mind.!Through!the!Foundation!Stage!curriculum,!the!children!will!be!encouraged!to!acquire!a!wealth!of!skills!in!relation!to!their!development!of!confidence!and!social!skills,!their!acquisition!of!language!and!mathematical!skills,!their!speaking!and!listening,!concentration,!observation!and!reasoning!skills.! Most!of!this!learning!takes!place!through!structured!and!unstructured!play!activities.! !CURRICULUM!AIMS!!We!believe!in!equipping!the!children!with!the!skills!that!they!will!need!to!take!a!full!and!active!part!in!the!world!around!them!in!the!future.! We!strive!to!ensure!that!the!children!are!literate,!numerate!and!possess!the!necessary!social!skills.! MONITORING!PROGRESS!Throughout!their!time!in!school,!your!child’s!progress!is!carefully!monitored!and!recorded.!Each!child’s!progress!is!assessed!each!term!by!the!class!teacher!based!on!evidence!from!the!child’s!class!work!and!is!sometimes!supplemented!by!!the!use!of!tests.!Parents!are!kept!fully!informed!!of!their!child’s!progress!at!Parents’!Evenings!and!through!the!annual!report.!

We!set!targets!for!all!children’s!progress!annually.!Both!the!targets!and!information!on!how!to!support!your!child!to!achieve!them!are!shared!with!parents.!!!

!!SPECIAL!NEEDS!Our!tracking!helps!us!to!quickly!identify!any!children!whose!progress!either!educationally,!socially!or!as!a!result!of!a!medical!issue!gives!cause!for!concern.! In!these!instances,!we!implement!the!Special!Needs!Code!of!Practice!and!in!partnership!with!parents,!give!the!child!additional!support.!The!class!teacher!does!this!in!the!first!instance.!We!are!able!to!offer!one!to!one!tuition!and!small!group!support!to!identified!children.!However,!in!some!cases!we!may!seek!advice!from!the!Education!Authority’s!Learning!Support!Service.!Parents!will!be!kept!fully!informed!of!any!concerns!the!school!might!have!and!actions!that!are!being!!taken.

DINNERS!We!have!a!new!school!kitchen!and!dining!room!where!the!children!can!eat!their!dinners!and!buy!a!snack!at!morning!break.!The!kitchen!provides!a!choice!of!two!or!three!well\balanced!meals!that!are!cooked!fresh!on!the!school!premises!each!day.!Children!can!choose!whether!to!have!school!meals!or!to!bring!a!packed!lunch!on!a!weekly!basis.!!

HOMEWORK!We!believe!that!homework!is!an!important!opportunity!to!reinforce!or!extend!work!studied!in!school.!In!the!first!three!years,!this!will!be!in!the!form!of!support!with!reading!
