PROVISION FOR STUDENTS WITH SEN ORDISABILITIES
From September 2002, it has been unlawful for schools and Local Authorities to
discriminate against disabled pupils in their admissions and exclusions policies, education and associated services. As a school that has embedded inclusivecultures and practices, we are carrying out our legal duties in respect to SEN/Dstudents.
The school will consider the requirements of current and future disabled pupils by
making reasonable enquiries to find out whether children currently on roll, as well
as those seeking admission, have a disability. We will always consider access
issues when planning any work involving the alteration or improvement of school
premises. We will make every effort to improve access for disabled people with
funding sources linked to ensure the maximum benefit.
The SEN Framework is designed to meet the special educational needs ofindividual children, some of whom may be disabled, who need provision that isadditional to or different from what is normally available in schools maintained bythe Local Educational Authority. In general, a child with a Statement of SpecialEducational Needs should have the opportunity to be educated in a mainstreamschool unless the parents do not want this or it will affect the provision of efficienteducation for other children Kingsbury School and Sports College will ensure thatwe adhere to the SEN framework.
Parents of prospective students who have additional needs should contact theInclusion team at the school to discuss.
The school follows the procedures recommended by the Local Authority in dealingwith issues of child protection. We have a designated senior professional forChild Protection and number of other trained staff. The school achieved anOutstanding grade from Ofsted for its safeguarding procedures.
