Means you need to complete an application form. Once we receive your application, we will invite you to an interview with the tutor. If you are successful you will receive a letter including joining instructions.

Our course fees at Wirral Metropolitan College include tuition and examination fees, unless otherwise stated.
Many students can enrol with nothing to pay as their fees are funding by the Education Funding Agency (EFA) or Skills Funding Agency (SFA). Please see the table opposite, but note, this table does not apply to courses designated as Higher Education or Full Price, as no funding is received from the EFA/SFA for these.
You may be entitled to discounted fees if you are aged 19 or over. Please note that if you do not fall into one of categories listed below, you will have to pay the course fees.
Paying FeesAll students paying their own fees will be expected to make a contribution to the enrolment fee at the time they enrol (enrolments at main site only). This will be £80 or the full balance, if this is less than £80.Please note that if no fees are payable on your course, you will not be expected to make a payment at enrolment.
Fee Payment Options• Pay total fee at enrolment;
• Make initial payment at enrolment, and then pay the balance within two weeks;
• Make initial payment at enrolment, then pay remaining balance by direct debit instalments. (Failure to meet a direct debit instalment will result in the full balance of fees becoming due immediately);
• Students whose fees are sponsored by employers, agents, local authorities or other organisations must provide written evidence of this at enrolment. The letter must contain contact details of who will pay the fees, and the address to which the
invoice should be sent. In the absence of this evidence, the enrolling student will be liable for fees. When an employer or other agency agrees to pay these fees, they become liable for them in full.
If you fall into one of the following categories, your fees will be assessed separately, so please seek further advice from Student Services:• An individual in custody who is released on
temporary licence (RoTL) following learning outside a prison environment.
• An individual has left the British Armed Forces after completing four or more years of service or who has been medically discharged due to an injury in active service, after completing basic training.
• An individual who is an overseas student.
• Individuals aged under 16 at the time of enrolment.
Fees quoted are for the full course, except for Higher Education courses, which are fees per year.
If you leave the course early, you will still be required to pay the full course fee.
*Accepted proof of identification includes: Bank/Debit card; National Insurance card or letter; Driving Licence; ID card /National ID; Passport; Proof of eligibility to benefit.

Do you need to improve your English and/or maths?
Unemployed or facing redundancy?
From 1st August 2013, if you’re aged 24 or over and you want to study an Access to Higher Education Diploma, a level 3 or 4 Certificate or Diploma, or an Advanced or Higher Apprenticeship, you’ll need to pay for the cost of your course.
The government will no longer contribute towards the cost of a course or qualification.
However, you may be entitled to apply for a new 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to pay for the course fees.
The new loan system replaces the government funding which supported a number of qualifications in the past.
Check the ‘24+ Loan’ column on the course listings to see whether the level 3 course you want to enrol on is eligible for this loan.

Will you be studying on an Access to Higher Education (HE) course?If you successfully complete your Access to Higher Education programme at Wirral Met College and you subsequently progress on to and successfully complete a HNC/D, Foundation Degree or Degree course, your 24+ Advanced Learning Loan fees on the Access programme will be waived. You may still have to pay for the HNC/D, Foundation Degree or Degree course fees.

Supported Entry Learning
Finances - how much will it cost?
Check here to see if you are eligible for a discount on your fees.
When you check the course(s) you are interested in, you will see that the course fees are set out in columns, as follows:
Aged 16-18 on 31.8.13 This qualification will be free for most students who are aged 16-18 on the 31st August 2013. Please see our fee policy for details.
Aged 19-23 This is a fee subsidised by the Government that you may not have to pay if you are eligible for discounts on fees. Please see our fee policy for guidance on discounts available.
Full cost (a loan may be available) This is the full-price fee that you will have to pay. If you are 24 or over, you may be able to receive a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to help with your fees for certain courses, as indicated. See www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans for details.
HE CoursesFor Higher Education (HE) courses, student loans and grants for maintenance are available to most students undertaking a full-time degree, foundation degree or HND programme.

Interested in doing an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship allows you to develop your skills, knowledge and your career, all at the same time. You’ll be employed by a company and get paid from the day you start.
Wirral Met College offers over 60 apprenticeships to suit most career paths across a variety of sectors, ranging from Accountancy and Engineering to Optical Retail and Property Services.
The Intermediate Apprenticeship at Level 2 equates to 5 GCSEs (A*-C) and the Advanced Level Apprenticeship at level 3 equates to 2 A Levels. You’ll then be able to progress to Higher Apprenticeships at Level 4.

The Additional Learning Support team are here to support students to be as successful as possible.
We have a team of over 60 highly trained and qualified staff, including Specialist Tutors, Communication Support Workers and Learning Support Assistants.
We work with students in every subject area, and at every level from Entry Level to Higher Education.

We have vacancies in our Waterside Nursery for children aged 0-5 at the Twelve Quays Campus, Shore Road, Birkenhead CH41 1AG.

• Our opening times are 7.30am – 6.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 7.30am to 5.30pm on Fridays
• We are open all year round (except for one week at Christmas/New Year and bank holidays)
