PROPEL’s Life and Leadership Club Supports Students

Since immigrating to the United States from Holland in 1970, Marta Batmasian has participated actively in a number of community initiatives in and around Boca Raton, Florida. Marta Batmasian is co-founder of PROPEL (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership) and has served as the organization’s president since 2001.

PROPEL’s Life and Leadership Club Supports Students

Committed to serving economically challenged communities in Palm Beach County, PROPEL strives to provide leadership opportunities and education for at-risk youth. Among PROPEL’s various initiatives is the Life and Leadership Club (L&L Club), a recurring eight-week mentoring program that partners struggling students with PROPEL volunteer leaders. Participants engage in group discussions and receive homework help; additionally, they receive training in conflict resolution and time management.

PROPEL’s Life and Leadership Club Supports Students

After a year-long pilot run at Don Estridge High Tech Middle School, the program was expanded to include Boca Raton Middle School. Both schools reported dramatic improvements to students’ behavior and grades, as well as a positive impact on confidence levels.
