Support Northeastern Schools; Vote Yes on Issue 22 In the last fourteen years, Northeastern School District has passed only one operating levy. This November 6th, you will have the opportunity to support the district in a brand new way.

This levy is a 1% EARNED income tax, not a property tax levy. This levy taxes only those who are actively employed, including all

renters, but does not include retiree income. We want you to be informed. Go to http://Strongnortheasternschools.wordpress.com/ for more information.

Eye Glasses On Beggar’s Night in October, members of the Leo Club will go door-to-door from 6-8 P.M. in Moorefield Township collecting used eyeglasses. The eyeglasses will be refurbished and distributed to Springfield residents. This project is a collaborative effort between the Leo Club and their parent organization, the Northridge Lions Club. Glasses can also be dropped off at collection boxes at the following locations: - Security National Bank on Moorefield Road - Krogers on Derr Road - Northridge IGA - Optical Option on Cheyenne - Kenton Ridge HS. We will also be collecting puzzle books, socks, gloves, and hats for the VA hospital in Dayton this year, as well as conducting the Adopt-a-Family Christmas project in conjunction with the Salvation Army. Leo Club members will again be quite visible at the annual Touch of Gold dinner on Nov. 3rd. They will be helping set up, serve, and clean up after the events. You’ll be able to recognize them by their distinctive purple t-shirts!

Dress Code Changes

KRHS believes that proper dress and grooming contribute to, and are a part of, the educational process. The building administrator may exclude any student when the apparel is inappropriate. What is or is not appropriate is a decision of school administrators that hopefully reflects community feelings, values and attitudes. With this in mind, the following guidelines are offered:

1. Students shall wear clothing that is clean, neat, and in good repair.

2. Skirts and shorts are to be no shorter than 4 inches above the knee.

3. Shirts and blouses must have factory-finished sleeves that go over the shoulder.

4. Tank tops, halter-tops, tube tops, see through clothing, open weave clothing, half shirts, open midriffs, and muscle shirts are NOT permitted without a shirt covering the shoulders and/or midriff.

5. Pajama pants are not to be worn. 6. Rips, holes and/or frays in jeans/pants exposing

skin are not permitted 4 inches above the knee. 7. Leggings are not permitted UNLESS they are

covered with a shirt or skirt not shorter than 4 inches above the knee.

8. Shoes are required at all times in the building. 9. Proper undergarments are to be worn but not seen. 10. Low-cut tops that are too revealing are not

permitted. 11. Hats, hoods, bandanas, sweatbands or similar items

are not to be worn inside the building during school. 12. Clothing will be free from inappropriate pictures or

inscriptions (ex. confederate flags, alcohol and tobacco advertising, “Hooters” shirts, etc.)

13. Sunglasses during school hours are not permitted unless the wearer has medical authorization.

Failure to follow the dress code may result in a referral to the office to correct the problem. If arrangements for proper dress cannot be made, the student may be placed in In School Suspension (ILP) and will be responsible to make up work missed during their classes. Repeat offenders may be sent home immediately and may receive no credit for that those classes missed.

SEARCH instructor and job coach to support and provide feedback to the interns. There are six student interns participating this year. Each day, the interns report to the hospital to learn employability and job skills while participating in three internships during the year. The interns also participate in regular progress meetings along with their team members to define their career goals and to plan the necessary steps to achieve their goals. The ultimate goal upon program completion is competitive employment utilizing the skills learned on the internships and throughout the program. Submitted by: Leslie Collier
