Principal’s Message Dear Parents and Friends, Congratulations to our Noelani Robotics Team! On November 5, Noelani Elementary School en- tered two fifth grade teams into the First Lego League (FLL) Punahou District Tournament. With the support of their coach, Mr. Eric Kaneshiro, and mentor teachers, Mrs. Morikone, Ms. Chang, Mr. Higa, and Mrs. Taguchi, we are proud to announce that BOTH teams qualified for the State FLL Tournament on December 3rd. In addition, team Hokubots took home the coveted title of District Champion! Congratulations to all of the students on both teams (Hokubots and Green Geckos)! This Saturday, November 12, is Noelani’s Craft and Children’s Fair! It is a fun day for the whole family. Last minute volunteers are still welcome. Feel free to check in at the registration table (near the front of the office) that day if you have time to spare and did not sign up in ad- vance. With the construction of the Playcourt, parking will be limited. We encourage everyone to utilize the additional parking spaces at St. Francis and walk through the back gate. Thank you all in advance for your support, labor, and donations! Speaking of the Playcourt, so far we are on schedule to have it completed in December. The Mul- tipurpose Covered Playcourt is designed as a covered regulation-size basketball court, and will also be striped to include a volleyball setup as well. It is not an enclosed structure, like a gymna- sium, but rather an open space that will be secured by fencing. Please visit our school website, and click on the Playcourt Update tab to view the architect’s rendering of the final project and the court’s Striping Plan. By the end of the first semester, all schools are required to complete several emergency drills, including fire, lockdown, shelter-in-place, earthquake and off-campus evacuations. On Wednes- day, November 23, we will be practicing our off-campus evacuation drill to Manoa District Park. Please see the parent letter that was sent home today for more specific information. It is impor- tant for all of us to be prepared in the event of a true emergency (but, hopefully, we never have to use it). Thank you for your understanding. Principal’s MessageDear Parents and Friends,

Congratulations to our Noelani Robotics Team! On November 5, Noelani Elementary School en-tered two fifth grade teams into the First Lego League (FLL) Punahou District Tournament.

Feel free to check in at the registration table (near the front of the office) that day if you have time to spare and did not sign up in ad-vance.

The Mul-tipurpose Covered Playcourt is designed as a covered regulation-size basketball court, and will also be striped to include a volleyball setup as well. It is not an enclosed structure, like a gymna-sium, but rather an open space that will be secured by fencing. A 2nd SCC Community Forum will be held on Thursday, December 8 at 5:00 pm in the library. The purpose of this meeting is to share Noelani’s Academic and Financial plan for the 2012-2013 school year. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Book Fair

Noelani Book Fair is coming soon. Hundreds of titles on family and friendship, mystery, fan-tasy, adventure, humor, award winners, new releases, and more will be available for purchase. Students will get a chance to preview books before they go on sale on December 1 & 2. Money earned will be used to buy new books and materials for our library. Hope to see you there where “reading is out of this world!”

GEOGRAPHIC EXCEPTIONS

Current returning students on GE’s, do not need to renew their GE for 2012-2013. Incoming stu-dents and presently enrolled students who have moved out of the Noelani School district, but wish to remain at Noelani, must apply for the Geographic Exception.

Noelani students who are applying to another public school and those who are applying for middle school can submit their forms to our school office.

Incoming Kindergartners and new students to the DOE must submit their forms to their home school.

We will accept application forms from Jan. 1 thru March 1, 2012.Siblings of students presently enrolled at Noelani on a Geographic Exception must submit their GE forms by March 1st to be considered Priority 2. Any forms after March 1st will be placed on a Prior-ity 4 list.

Application forms are available at any public school. Submit the completed application with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Multiple applications to various schools are suggested in the event the school enrollment may be filled to capacity. The chance lottery at Noelani will be during the first week in April.
