Principal’s Message Belmore celebrates cultural harmony at Campsie Food Festival
Belmore Boys High School is always at the centre of its community, promoting harmony and celebrating diversity. On Saturday 12 May, our school held a stall at Campsie Food Festival. Every second year, Beamish Street and Anzac Mall are transformed into lively markets presenting visitors with food, drinks and sweets. Over 150 different cultural backgrounds are representing the residents of the Canterbury Area at the Festival. With over 20 000 people visiting, even the wet and wild weather could not dampen the spirits of Foodies. Our stall showcased a range of school projects, magazines and of course tasty foods. This year, we promoted the cheesy Kaak, a Middle Eastern sesame bread, filled with a 4 cheese blend, toasted to perfection. In addition to the oozy delight, our Belmore stall was frequently visited for baklava, a range of muffins, popcorn and of
course fairy floss. The event wrapped up at 4pm, with many staff, students and parents exhausted but feeling a sense of pride and achievement for our school. Many thanks also go to the staff of Canterbury Bankstown Council who worked tirelessly to support stall holders and visitors. Celebrating Mother’s Day Belmore Style As part of our commitment to our community, our P & C group held a fund raising BBQ at Bunnings Kingsgrove. With the BBQ being very popular, our Community Relations Officer, Ms Manal Sabbagh worked closely with Bunnings staff on securing a spot on Mother's Day. Our students, staff and parents worked closely throughout the day to ensure that customers received the tastiest sausage sandwich, the best customer service and of course, lots of great information about our school. Feedback received on the day reflected our school's system of values of Responsible, Respectful and Safe learners. Well done to all involved and special thanks go to all of our teaching staff who gave up Mother’s Day celebrations to support our P & C.

Deputy Principals’ Message ANZAC Day
On the 25th April, Belmore Boys High School was represented at the Campsie Anzac Day service by Abdullahi Muzayen, Abdullah Ghazli and Morris Addo Junior. The boys had been part of a program run by Campsie RSL Club, which asked schools to send them a presentation representing an aspect of the end of World War 1. The boys did a PowerPoint on what occured when the men returned home and they looked at the way Australians remember this time in our history. The boys did an excellent presentation and represented the
school with pride. Well done boys!

Project Based Learning and School Partnerships I am glad to announce that Belmore Boys High School has been working with nine of our Primary Partner Schools to develop projects that meet the learning needs of the students involved and expose junior students to the fantastic facilities and learning opportunities available at Belmore Boys High School. Our Primary transition officer Ms Hamdan, with the help of our specialist teachers have developed programs and lessons on a range of topics that are delivered by our students and teachers. If your son has siblings at
our local primary schools, our school is offering archaeological explorations, poetry slam competitions, Masterchef style cook-offs, student leadership development and garden projects. The Project Based Learning models are also being implemented at Belmore with a number of staff conducting Inquiry Based Learning projects, such as studying the roll out of the Sydney Trains Metro Project and an investigation into our local Ibis population with the support of Sydney University. It is anticipated that by the end of 2018 each staff member and all students from years 7 – 10 will have had opportunity to participate in the above projects or others that incorporate learning across multiple KLA’s.
