Contribution of PortNet Company to the Environmental Commitments of MoroccoSeveral Governmental Organizations and associations have come to exist in order to initiate companies into management methods prioritizing respect to the environment. Within this frame, PortNet Company «National Single Window for Foreign Trade Procedures» considers the paperlessness and the optimization of procedures within its interest. It is a strategic choice that complies with Morocco’s strategic decision to boost competitiveness among companies through reducing deadlines and expenses related to foreign trade procedures.

Workflow systems are intended to do without printing documents and their movement within different departements for validation. Also, Workflow systems save time.

By adopting an electronic archiving solution, there is no longer a need to print documents to keep a copy neither some sort of a location store these records.

A few Figures on Environmental Reports by PortNet CompanyBefore the PortNet Single Window, more than 500 000 bonds of imported goods per year were sent and processed amongst the four operators within an importation cycle including: the Ministry of Foreign Trade, banks, Exchange Office, the Douane and the Importer. If we multiply the number of processed bonds by the number of interested operators (5), we would get 2.5 millions of received and/or sent documents between these operators.

Annually, nearly 170,000 Export securities are issued and processed and exchanged between four foreign trade operators, namely: the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the Exchange Office, Customs and exporter. If we proceed with the multiplication of the number of shares traded (170,000) by the number of operators involved (4), there will be 680 000 receptions or transmit a document between operators.

Expectation of vessels movements and environmental hazards All the vessels generate risks by themselves and for themselves: damage, fire, explosion, human error, endangerment of equipment…these factors could interact, amplify and exacerbate. On the other hand, the vessel is in constant contact with its environment: including the coastline, fisheries, and pitfalls as well as sailing conditions (wind, strong waves, fog) that could cause cargo loss or worsen the condition of vessels thus leading it to perish in the sea.

Within the aim of controlling its risks and reducing their impact on environment, PortNet Company implemented, in close cooperation with its public and private partners, a platform of maritime information management. Thus, it allows, thanks to the anticipation of exchanges, the improvement of anticipatory management for port of callls and nautical services.
