The Professional Associat ion of Marit ime Agents Consignees of Ships and Charters of Morocco (APRAM) organized on Wednesday November 14 2018 in Casablanca a seminar on the stakes and perspectives of the Blockchain technology in Morocco The CEO of PORTNET SA Jalal Benhayoun took part in this event under the theme laquoBlockchain consequences on the port and maritime professionsraquo The meeting was attended by representatives of the public and private sectors in particular the actors of the maritime and ICT sectors as well as eminent national and international experts

PortNetMulti-channel payment solution extended to ANP customers

The Single Window of Foreign Trade Procedures PortNet has just announced the generalization of the first multi-channel payment solution for customers of the National Ports Agency (ANP)

These latter can now choose between online payment by credit card or via one of the bank channels managed by the Fatourati platform (e-Banking m-Banking m-Payments ATMs Banking services or physical proximity networks and any other approved channel)

To accompany the concerned customers a user guide has been published by PortNet Everything is largely detailed on it from the launch of authentication to the payment of the invoices

The Guide provides appropriate explanations about the application m a n a ge m e n t a n d v i ew i n g o f invoices

ANP customers who do not have access to PortNet are invited to subscribe to the Single Window services as soon as possible

Several speakers at the Fourth Annual Single Window Conference held in Casablanca on November 12 and 13 2018 highlighted PortNetrsquos major role in improving the business environment in Morocco

OCI PORTNET SA participates in the 34th COMCEC Ministerial Meeting in IstanbulThe 34th Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) took place from 26th to 29th November 2018 at the Istanbul Congress Center (Turkey) under the theme laquoTrade Facilitation Improvement of Customs Risk Management Systems in OIC Member Statesraquo The Opening Ceremony took place on November 28th 2018 under the chairmanship of HE Recep Tayyip Erdogan President of the Republic of Turkey and President of the COMCEC

The 34th Session of the COMCEC underscored the importance of having an effect ive Customs Risk Management System to facilitate trade among OIC member countries In addition they emphasized the need to strengthen regional integration customs modernization digitization and exchange of experiences and good practices

Addis Ababa PORTNET SA Present at the first African Forum of National Trade Facilitation Commissions

A Moroccan delegation composed by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Trade the Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes (ADII) ONSSA the ANP and PORTNET SA took part in the inaugural edition of the African Forum National Trade Facilitation Commissions 27th-29th November 2018 Addis Ababa Ethiopia

Following a similar global event organized by UNCTAD in Geneva in January 2017 the work of this Forum focused on the role of African regional organizations and the role of National Trade Facilitation Committees (NCEs) in implementation of trade facilitation provisions in the framework of the African Agreement on the Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) but also on dematerialization initiatives at points of entry the participation of the private sector in the CNFEs coordination of the tasks of the different border services or the role of the transit corridors

The event allowed the Moroccan delegation to reconnect with a number of international organizations UNCTAD UNECE WTO MDG etc It is also an opportunity to highlight the successful model of the PortNet SA Single Window the fruit of a shared and concerted vision involving all the players in foreign trade Participants in the Addis Ababa Forum agreed to continue working towards the standardization of control quality and certificates quality at the international level

Standardization is seen as one of the keys to the success of free trade agreements for trade in Africa The pilot experience of the Phytosanitary Certificate laquoE-Phytoraquo initiated by the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) with the support of PORTNET SA has also been highly praised by international organizations

More than 800 participants from around the world from the public and private sectors took part in the Fourth Annual PortNet Single Window Conference held on November 12th and 13th 2018 in Casablanca

A wide range of nationalities more than thirty were present as well as renowned experts including representatives of prestigious international organizations UN CEFACT UNCTAD IPCSA AACE ICDT World Bank etc

The 2018 edition of this annual meeting of the foreign trade community coincided with two other international events all aimed at improving the cross-border logistics chain This is the Fifth International Conference on the Single Window Concept organized by the United Nations Center for Trade Facilitation (UN CEFACT) as well as the annual Conference of The International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA) The holding in Morocco of these two events with international influence is a sign of confidence and recognition of the progress made by the Moroccan single window in terms of trade facilitation and improvement of the business climate

A first in the world The Single Window of Foreign Trade PortNet joins forces with the banking sector to develop an innovative solution for the electronic management of documentary credits The announcement was made on the sidelines of the inaugural meeting of the 4th Annual Conference of the Single Window PortNet Tuesday November 12 2018 in Casablanca

Called laquoTrde Directraquo the new solution takes the form of a unified multi-bank multi-user platform for all importing and exporting companies

It enables both banks and PORTNET SA users to better manage the whole life cycle of documentary credits letters of credit standby letters of credit documentary remittance letters and certain transactions Non-documentary such as simple transfersThe new service will be the subject of a preliminary study At the annual PortNet Single Window Conference framework agreements have been ratified between on the one hand

PORTNET SA and on the other hand three banking institutions Attijariwafa Bank CIH Bank and Creacutedit du Maroc At the end of a pilot phase involving these three banks the new service will be generalized to all banks in the area

Because of this lack of collaboration Morocco has managed to overcome this problem by strengthening the public-private partnership The country also continues to make efforts to ease the cumbersome administrat ive procedures which wil l surely substantially change the trade in Morocco We can already say that the changes are beginning to be noticeable

The Moroccan experience In maritime transport highlighted in Geneva

The ANP wants to the morale of its teams Indeed the National Agency of Ports intends to set up a social climate barometer a tool that would allow it to benefit from benchmarks and objectives on the levels of satisfaction and motivation of staff to ultimately be able to lead internal improvement

The barometer in question should address various issues such as staff expectations (image workplace climate positioning HR policy reporting relationships communication safety training prevention of occupational risks etc)

The Agency should entrust the construction of this barometer to an external service provider It should be noted that the scope of the ANP is divided outside the headquarters of the Directorate-General into seven regions operating on 36 ports across the country

The Moroccan experience in maritime transport was highlighted during a session held Friday at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on the sidelines of the 6th multi-year expert meeting on transport trade logistics and trade facilitation United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)

Speaking at this session dedicated to the launch of the publication prepared specifically to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UNCTAD Maritime Transport Review (RTM) the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco the United Nations Office at Geneva Omar Zniber emphasized the importance of the maritime transport sector for Morocco which accounts for more than 98 of the Kingdomrsquos foreign trade and thus constitutes an important lever for the national economic dynamic

Mr Zniber who attended the meeting as a panelist together with UNCTAD Secretary General Dr Kituyi and Dr Martin Stopford an internationally known shipping economist emphasized the geographical position of Morocco on the Strait at a major crossroads of trade linking Europe Africa Asia and the Americas makes shipping the ideal way to integrate the Moroccan economy into the global economyraquo
