PHOTOSHOOT 1 Shoot title: Fruits and donuts splash. Aim: the aim of this shoot is to capture the splash of lemons and oranges by dropping them into water to create a fresh image. I want to try to capture the splashed water all around the subject matter and make the image look fresh and appetising. Techniques: shutter speed will be used in this shoot and throughout e.g. 1/250 sec and 1/320 sec. The ISO will be set to 3200 along with the big light set as it wont be bright enough without the flash Equipment: Nikon D3300 DSLR will be used along with a solid flat top base such as board placed under the camera to freeze the moment for maximum focus. A black back drop will be used as a background. Using a tripod would not help as it would be too tall as the scene is on the floor therefore a solid flat object is to be used to minimise the camera’s shake. Location: I will be shooting this still life in a classroom, setting my own mini studio with the equipment mentioned above. I may have to share the location of shoot with my classmates if some of them doing a photoshoot at the same time. Obstacles: the sets of lights may need to be shared between me and my classmates as they may also be doing a photo- shoot that day which may slow me down. Lack of availability of lighting sources may affect my photos and lead them in to being too dark. The weather I would not have to worry as I will be shooting indoors, this would not affect my photographs.

Shoot title: Fruits and donuts splash.

Aim: the aim of this shoot is to capture the splash of lemons and oranges by dropping them into water to create a fresh image. I want to try to capture the splashed water all around the subject matter and make the image look fresh and

appetising.

Techniques: shutter speed will be used in this shoot and throughout e.g. 1/250 sec and 1/320 sec. The ISO will be set to 3200 along with the big light set as it wont be bright enough without the flash

Equipment: Nikon D3300 DSLR will be used along with a solid flat top base such as board placed under the camera to freeze the moment for maximum focus. A black back drop will be used as a background. Using a tripod would not help as it

would be too tall as the scene is on the floor therefore a solid flat object is to be used to minimise the camera’s shake.

Location: I will be shooting this still life in a classroom, setting my own mini studio with the equipment mentioned above. I may have to share the location of shoot with my classmates if some of them doing a photoshoot at the same time.

Obstacles: the sets of lights may need to be shared between me and my classmates as they may also be doing a photo-

shoot that day which may slow me down. Lack of availability of lighting sources may affect my photos and lead them in to being too dark. The weather I would not have to worry as I will be shooting indoors, this would not affect my photographs.

EVIDENCE OF SELECTIONS: TOP 5

I feel this shows a good composition of splash and position of lemon The subject matter of the lemon is sharp and in focus.

Great amount of splash is captured makes the image dramatic. The artificial lighting is bright enough to highlight the little splashes.

The central composition makes the image balanced. The flow of water is captured smoothly.

Good shape to the water splash which looks interesting. The light captured the objects well which makes it clear that it’s the main focus.

The lower rule of thirds is used which is eye catching to see. The fast shutter settings used creating a sharp image.

EVIDENCE OF 2 SELECTIONS: TOP 2

The composition of the subject matter is near to the middle which is using the rule of thirds to best effect.

The splash is not entirely in focus but the main subject is really sharp which makes it clear which one is the main

subject of focus .

The splash directions in this image creates a dramatic look and the use of two fruits as subject matter makes it more

interesting for the eye.

I feel I have used the correct shutter speed as the subject matter is in focus although the splash does not seem like

it is as sharp as I would like.

FINAL IMAGE

The splashed water’s composition is gathered around the subject matter which makes the image looks really fresh and exciting to the eye. I feel this is an interesting shot using a balanced composition.

The use of a black backdrop makes the lemon stand out as it contrasts well and the light colour of the water making it more intriguing to look at.

I had to place two lights on both sides of the set up to get enough light to capture the yellow hues of the

lemon and the highlighted whites of the water which makes it clear to see. The use of rule of thirds is to attract the eyes’ attention, the sharpness of the subject matter is achieved by the

1/250 exposure.
