PHOTOSHOOT 5 Shoot title: Pebble splash Aim: the aim of this shoot is to capture the splash of the water when a pebble is thrown into a natural lake. I would like to captivate the viewers attention with this photo-shoot and show how the water reacts when a objects are thrown into the water. Techniques: I will be setting up a camera on the side of the lake and using it on continuous setting. I will throw a pebble at a distance with a hard force and try to press the camera’s button to capture the resulting splash. I will continue to do this until I feel I have enough good shots and a result. Equipment: the camera I will be using is a Nikon D3300 with a standard tripod to avoid any shakes. I think assistance will not be needed to do this shoot but I will be bringing somebody just in case. Natural lighting will be used as it is outside therefore no artificial are needed. Location: James Hamilton Heritage Park is where I will be shooting for this planned photo shoot. I tend to go in the evening to catch a sunset to be in the background for my shoot to make it interesting and have more to see rather than just the splash itself. Obstacles: the obstacles I may face is the weather, rainy weather would not be a great as it would damage the camera therefore the shoot will need to be cancelled. A very bright sunny day would not be good either for the shoot as it is a direct source of sunlight, so I will try and shoot in a overcast cloudy weather hopefully to give me the desired result. There would not be any mess as the photoshoot is out in the open.

Shoot title: Pebble splash

Aim: the aim of this shoot is to capture the splash of the water when a pebble is thrown into a natural lake. I would like to captivate the viewers attention with this photo-shoot and show how the water reacts when a objects are thrown into the

water.

Techniques: I will be setting up a camera on the side of the lake and using it on continuous setting. I will throw a pebble at

a distance with a hard force and try to press the camera’s button to capture the resulting splash. I will continue to do this until I feel I have enough good shots and a result.

Equipment: the camera I will be using is a Nikon D3300 with a standard tripod to avoid any shakes. I think assistance will

not be needed to do this shoot but I will be bringing somebody just in case. Natural lighting will be used as it is outside therefore no artificial are needed.

Location: James Hamilton Heritage Park is where I will be shooting for this planned photo shoot. I tend to go in the evening to catch a sunset to be in the background for my shoot to make it interesting and have more to see rather than just the splash

itself.

There would

not be any mess as the photoshoot is out in the open.

EVIDENCE OF SELECTIONS: TOP 5

The duck in the background looking at the splash leads the eye to the main action.

Exposure of 1/320 with ISO 200 makes the splash sharp along with the natural lighting.

The composition far back in the lake gives a sense of scale.

The natural light reflects on the water surface which creates interesting textures to look at.

The reflection of the splash creates symmetry which make the image more interesting to look at.

Rule of thirds is used to grab the viewers attention and focus them on the corner of the image then the middle.

The splash creates a dent where the stone impacts with the waters surface which makes the splash in the image protrude from the water.

ISO 200 captures the colour of the lake well which makes the atmosphere more tranquil.

The early sunset makes the water appear yellow which is unusual. Exposure of 1/320 captures all the tiny splashes.

EVIDENCE OF SELECTIONS: TOP 2

A few ducks in the background makes the shot fascinating as the duck nearer to the splash makes the viewer look at

what the duck is looking at.

The use of tripod making the camera at the same level of the approximate height of the splash makes the image to

appear closer with the addition of zoom which allows viewers to see he details.

The reflection in this image is fully reflected in the wide space of lake, this makes the eyes to only focus on the

splash as there are nothing else to look at.

The continues setting of the camera captures the shot at the right time as the splash is neatly symmetrical.

ORIGINAL AND EDITS

FINAL IMAGE

The cropped edit allows the eye to see the details of the shot. By taking away the empty space around the splash helps the viewer is able to focus more on the action, I think this shot is

engaging with the close up finish. The use of saturation and the addition of blue hues makes the image voluminous to finalize

the photo.

The shutter speed of 1/320sec captures the detail of the splash sharply which makes the

image looks very still and give more to look at. Natural lighting used saves time and efficiency to shoot the image as the only thing has to be

set up was the tripod and the camera.
