Preface

Preface

Site PreparationChapter 1 to Chapter 5 of this document contain the information necessary for the preparation of a site conforming to NCR specifications. It is very important that the site complies with the requirements specified in these chapters because, once the equipment has been installed, deficiencies in site preparation or the problems caused by these deficiencies are much more difficult to detect and correct. Further, failure to comply with these requirements or to take proper steps to protect equipment against risks identified in this document may cause serious damage to the equipment and to the customer’s business.

In addition to the need to comply with the requirements specified, electrical wiring and mechanical systems must also comply with all relevant codes, laws and regulations.

It is important that the site be prepared by a customer or his agent who is fully conversant with the special requirements of electronic equipment. The responsibility for ensuring that the site is prepared in compliance with this document remains with the customer.

For information and guidance only, a list is provided, in general terms, of those matters for which the customer is responsible. This list is not intended to be comprehensive, and in no way modifies, alters, or limits the responsibility of the customer for all aspects of adequate site preparation.

NCR staff will be available to answer questions relating to the contents of the chapters but, except where:

a the customer has been notified that a full or partial consultancy service is available and/or that NCR will be willing to undertake a preliminary or final site survey and

b the customer shall have entered into a formal contract with NCR for provision of the same.

No comment, suggestion or advice offered or not offered about preparation of the site nor any inspection of the site whether before or after preparation is to be taken as approval of the location of the site and equipment or of its preparation and NCR will not be liable in respect of any comment, suggestion or advice given by its staff or in respect of any failure to give advice.

Finally, only the customer can know the full extent of damage which may be caused to his business by reason of failure of the equipment which is to be installed. For this reason it is the customer’s responsibility to ascertain the extent of any such possible damage to his existing or planned business, and to effect full insurance in respect of it.

Physical RequirementsHole In The Wall

Hole In The Wall 1

The 5887 Drive-Up can be installed through an existing NCR 5088 or 5688 hole in the wall with minimal rework required depending on the ATM being replaced, wall thickness and the local cardholder access legislation.

Customised collars or surrounds made by the owning organisation may need rework or replacement due to the following installation requirements.

Installation Categories 1

The physical installation of 5887 Drive-Up is divided into three different categories.

1 An installation where a 5887 Drive-Up replaces a 5088. The hole in the wall must be modified and the plinth must be replaced with a new one to position the 5887 Drive-Up keyboard at the optimum height. See page 1-15.

2 An installation where a 5887 Drive-Up replaces a 5688 and where no modification has been made to the hole in the wall. The existing plinth must be replaced with a new one to position the 5887 Drive-Up keyboard at the optimum height. See page 1-16.

Note: The location of the cable access hole in the base of the ATM will change. Refer to the section “Requirements For The Floor” for more details.

3 A new installation of a 5887 Drive-Up at the optimum height. See page 1-17.

For categories 1 and 2, an infill panel is required to accommodate the larger hole used by the previous 5088 or 5688 installation.

Installing Through A Glass Wall 1

If you are installing your ATM through a glass wall you may require a suitable glass support (normally a steel collar) to sit between the ATM collar and the glass. The requirement for this support should be determined by the architect. If required, any such support should be sourced locally.

Physical RequirementsSealing The Hole In The Wall Against Cold And Water

Sealing The Hole In The Wall Against Cold And Water 1

To ensure that the temperature around the ATM is maintained during cold weather, it is important that the wall opening is prepared correctly. Any cavity in the wall should not extend into the wall opening, but sealed to provide a flush surface. The gap between the ATM sleeve and the wall opening should be left clear to allow air at room temperature to circulate.

To enable a good weather seal to be made between the wall and the ATM facia, a 25 mm (1 in.) wide smooth surface is required around the periphery of the wall opening.

Seal any cavity

Do not block air gaps

Physical RequirementsMandatory Modifications To Plinth Or Floor

Mandatory Modifications To Plinth Or Floor 1

The following modifications must be made to the plinth:

Concrete Plinth 1

If a concrete plinth is used at installation, a section of the plinth should be cut-out to allow the fitting of the cables which enter the base of the ATM.

The following illustration shows the size of cut-out required for all security enclosure options.

Adjustable Plinth 1

If an adjustable plinth is used, holes should be drilled through the plinth, to allow the fitting of the cables which enter the base of the ATM.

ATM Installed Directly On To The Floor 1

If the ATM is installed directly on to the floor, without a plinth, the cabling must be routed through a channel in the floor. The channel must be large enough to allow the cabling to be routed along the floor and under the ATM.

Environmental RequirementsEnvironmental Requirements3

Environmental Requirements 3

For the ATM to function correctly the site at which it is to be installed should meet the following environmental requirements.

Temperature And Humidity 3

The ATM will operate over a range of temperature and humidity. However, continuous operating at or near the range limits or in a location where the temperature and humidity change beyond the specification, should be avoided. The temperature and humidity ranges are as follows:

Normal operating range (interior to wall environment):

● Temperature: 10oC to 40oC (50oF to 104oF) ● Temperature change rate: 10oC/hour (18oF/hour) ● Relative humidity: 20% to 80% ● Relative humidity change rate: 10%/hour ● Dew point temperature restriction: 26oC (79oF) maximum.

Note: The humidity inside the building is restricted to a maximum of 30% at an outside temperature of -35oC (-31oF) with a linear (straight line) relationship between temperature and humidity to a maximum humidity of 80%.

Normal operating range (exterior to wall environment):

● Temperature: -35oC to 50oC (-31oF to 122oF) ● Temperature change rate: 10oC/hour (18oF/hour) ● Relative humidity: 10% to 90% ● Relative humidity change rate: 10%/hour.

Storage range (up to three months):

● Temperature: -10oC to 50oC (14oF to 122oF) ● Temperature change rate: 15oC/hour (27oF/hour) ● Relative humidity: 10% to 90%

Transit range (up to one week):

● Temperature: -40oC to 60oC (-40oF to 140oF) ● Temperature change rate: 20oC/hour (36oF/hour) ● Relative humidity: 5% to 95%

Page 68: Personas M Series - Money Handling · PDF fileNCR Personas M Series 5887 Drive-Up Site Preparation And Installation iii Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Radio Frequency Interference

Environmental RequirementsEnvironmental Requirements

Extreme power on range (up to one hour):

● Temperature: 0oC to 40oC (32oF to 104oF) ● Temperature change rate: 10oC/hour (18oF/hour) ● Relative humidity: 10% to 95%.

Barometric Pressure 3

Barometric pressure details are as follows:

● Operating and transit limits: 105kPa (15.2 lb. F/in.) ● Equivalent altitude: up to a maximum of

3000 metres (9842 feet).

The ATM will accommodate an external to internal pressure difference of up to 70 pascal (with the severe environment option fitted).

How to determine whether severe environment is required

The following equipment is required:

● a gauge which measures pressure with an appropriate scale (up to 100 pascals)

● a piece of tubing to fit the gauge● silicon sealant● suitable wall sealant.

The following procedure should be followed, before the hole in the wall is created:

1 Drill a hole through the exterior wall where the ATM’s facia is to be located. The diameter of the hole should be correct to accommodate the diameter of the tubing being used.

2 Insert the tubing through the hole so that the tube is located inside the building.

3 Use the sealant to make sure that there are no gaps between the tubing and the exterior wall.

4 Attach the gauge to the loose end of the tube (that is, on the inside of the building).

5 Take a note of the pressure reading.

6 Remove the tube and gauge, and seal the hole in the wall using a suitable sealant.

7 If the pressure gauge indicates a negative pressure differential, then NCR recommend that the ATM to be installed should have severe environment fitted.

To lock the security enclosure: close the door and use the handle to operate the bolt, then lock the primary lock, followed by the secondary lock.

Keylocks 7

The pair of keylock keys supplied with your ATM have been pre-cut to a random factory-set combination. If one key should get lost, then you should get a new pair of keys and then change the keylock setting.

How To Unlock A Keylock 7

To unlock a keylock, insert the key into the lock and turn it clockwise as far as it will turn.

How To Lock A Keylock 7

To lock a keylock, turn the key counterclockwise as far as it will turn and then remove the key.

Combination Locks 7

Three variants of combination lock may be fitted to your ATM:

● Basic combination lock● Combination lock with integral keylock● Combination lock with a silent alarm option.

All the variants of the combination lock are three-number combination locks.

The locks are precision locks, therefore, extreme care must be taken to align combination numbers with the index.

Turn the dial slowly and steadily. If, after turning the dial the correct number of revolutions, any number is turned beyond the index, the entire series of combination numbers must be re-dialled.

Do not turn the dial back to regain a proper alignment of the number and index, because each time a selected number is aligned with the index a revolution is counted.

IntroductionInstalling The ATM – Physical Installation8

Introduction 8

Installation Categories 8

The physical installation of 5887 Drive-Up is divided into three different categories.

These installation categories are described in Chapter 1.

Connecting Cables 8

If the ATM is being installed within a minimum footprint clearance area, due to limited side clearance, cable connections must be carried out before the unit is moved into its final location. If however, the ATM is located in a recommended footprint clearance area (or more), cable connections can be carried out before or after the final siting of the unit.

If required, refer to “Connecting Cables to the ATM” and connect cables before proceeding with the installation.

Caution The design of the plinth must be such that it will not damage the cables which exit the ATM through the base of the security enclosure. For more details, refer to Chapter 1.

Connecting Cables To The ATM 9

The cables used to make connections to the ATM must conform to the cable specifications and details of preparation provided in Chapter 2.

Note: If the ATM is being installed within a minimum footprint clearance area, cable connections must be carried out before the unit is moved into its final location, due to limited side clearance. If however, the ATM is located in a recommended footprint clearance area, cable connections can be carried out before or after the final siting of the unit.

Cables to be connected to the ATM fall into three categories:

● Internal cables requiring additional grounding by means of a “P” clamp (if not configured prior to the ATM’s dispatch from the factory)

● Power cable, not requiring additional grounding● External cables requiring additional grounding by means of a

“P” clamp.

The Remote Relay, Remote Status Indicator, Alarms Interface Cable and High Order RS-232 Communication cables require additional grounding. Follow the special procedures given in the next section.

Caution Cables must be grounded where indicated to make sure that the ATM meets EMC requirements.

IntroductionConfiguring the ATM10

Introduction 10

After you have completed the hardware installation of the ATM there are certain configuration procedures that must be performed. These depend upon which modules are installed in the ATM.

Note: All dot-matrix printers are pre-fitted with secured paper and ribbons but paper will have to be loaded or fed into the transport.

Refer to the publication, “NCR Personas M Series 5887 Operator Manual” (B006-6359), for details of how to load supplies and how to fit the print head cartridges.

The features which may require configuration are:

● Currency cassette● Device Configuration● Communications● Printers:

● 40-Column printers● 80-Column printer

The configuration of these features is described in the following sections.

For ATMs with a zico board (feature D201), connect the external communications cable from the I/O panel to the customer’s network prior to testing. If this is not possible, then disconnect the internal communications cable from the PC Core and reconnect after testing is complete. Failure to do one of these could result in a system escape.

After completing the configuration of the ATM, refer to the appropriate publication for details of system initialization. If your system software is APTRA™ Self-Service Support, refer to publication “APTRA™ Self-Service Support, System Application User Guide”, B006-6167. If your system software is S4I, refer to publication “Self-Service Terminal Supervisor Functions”, B006-4718.

After configuration and testing, complete and return the Installation Report Form delivered with the ATM.

Finally, under no circumstance should media or any other items be stored inside the ATM, as this may interfere with its operation.

80-Column Printer Configuration 10

The ATM may be fitted with one of two variants of the 80-column printer:

● Statement printer (Letter Quality Document)● Parallel Port or “Open” Statement printer (Letter Quality

Document)

For each variant, some configuration is required.

Note: Prior to the ATM’s dispatch from the factory, the statement capture bin threshold is configured to a setting of 10 (or 6 for buncher). Details on how to change these thresholds can be found in the NCR publication, “APTRA Self-Service Support, System Application User Guide”, B006-6167 or “Self-Service Terminal Supervisor Functions”, B006-4718 depending on your system software.

Letter Quality Document (LQD) Printers 10

The printer leaves the factory with paper width set to 216mm (8.5in.) and paper length set to 305mm (12in.).

If the paper width or length setting requires to be changed, the switch settings (width) or the paper guides (width and length) should be adjusted. These tasks must be performed by a customer engineer.

Note: If you have a Parallel Port or “Open” variant of the Statement printer, proceed to beyond the next section, as there is no requirement to adjust the switch settings.

Note: The following procedure should only be carried out by a suitably qualified Installation Engineer, if the printer does not have a contrast control switch.

To access the control board, remove the safety cover. Reset SW1 and SW2 on User Switches (U64) as follows:

Note: 0 = off, 1 = ON.

The default setting for all paper (unless specified otherwise) is MEDIUM. If the media specifications state that any grade of paper requires increased contrast setting, then use the DARK setting.

Note: The image can be lightened or darkened by adjusting SW1 and SW2. To darken the image, the contrast must be increased (more heat is applied to the paper). However, if the contrast is too dark, this can cause the end image to blur slightly. If the contrast is too light, this can cause the end image to fade over time.

AC Power Line Transient ProtectionTransient And Power ProtectionA

AC Power Line Transient Protection A

In the process of power distribution, transient electrical energy (including, but not limited to, lightning strikes, intermittent short circuits, and switching transients) can be introduced on to power lines. Such transient energy can be very damaging to electronic hardware and can also cause data corruption. Under these circumstances, NCR recommends the use of ac power transient suppressors and data (communication) line transient suppressors. Such protective devices are intended to guard against power and data line transients that can result in hardware damage and various system or program errors.

Improvement of any deficiencies in power quality is a customer responsibility. Malfunction and/or component failure as a result of power quality problems are/is not covered by NCR Maintenance Agreement, NCR accepts no liability for any such occurrence nor for its consequences.

When power transient suppression is required, the suppressors used should meet the following minimum requirements:

● Dissipate energy to match the appropriate application categories as defined by IEEE Standard 587. These categories are described in the table below:

● Be of the voltage limiting (clipping), or tracking filter type. The suppressor must not ‘clamp’ the voltage to zero, and must self-recover after passage of the transient. The suppressor may be of the hybrid type construction that makes use of various technologies in order to meet speed and dissipation requirements.

● Exhibit a ‘short circuit’ mode upon its failure, thus providing a positive indication of its failure such as a blown fuse or tripped breaker

● Be listed by the accepted safety organization for the country involved (e.g. UL, CSA, VDE, ETL, etc.) and the installation must conform to local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.

Transient And Power ProtectionData Line Transient Protection

Data Line Transient Protection A

The nature of the transient phenomenon may extend to the data communication lines connected to this equipment. It is the responsibility of the customer to install and connect a data line transient suppression system to correct or prevent any deficiencies. Such systems must meet the following minimum requirements:

● Be of the voltage limiting type and must self-recover after passage of the transient

● Exhibit a ‘short circuit’ mode upon its failure to insure a positive indication of its failure

● Insert less than 5 ohms resistance and minimal inductive and capacitive loading at the operating frequency, in each data line in order to avoid signal degradation

● Be installed in accordance with all applicable local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.

Note: In certain countries, NCR is able to supply both power and data line transient suppressors as well as a comprehensive line of power conditioning equipment. For application data, contact your NCR Customer Services Division Representative.
