Sanctioned by the International Rugby Board, the 69th Singapore Cricket Club Sevens is one of the oldest international team sports events in Asia.

Organised by The Singapore Cricket Club, Sevens Rugby (SCC 7s) will make its debut at the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.

What began in the 1940s as a humble tournament for Singaporean and Malaysian teams is now a spectator friendly, international tournament, attracting leading national and regional rugby teams from all corners of the globe.

In 2015, the event brought more than 20 teams from Australia, England, France, Hong Kong, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and Fiji – including two teams from Perth and France Rugby’s Under 20’s National team.

Palmyra Rugby Club has been playing in the SCC 7s tournament since 1983, winning plates in 1986, 1992, 1995, 2006 and bowls in 1999 and 2005. This is a huge achievement for a club who uses local players to compete against clubs fielding marquee International Sevens players.

CLUB HISTORYPalmyraRugbyClubboastsaproud82-yearrugbyhistory in the Perth local competition. A southern suburbs club, Palmyra traces its history back to the depression days of 1934.

Initially Palmyra Rugby was located in Stock Road, Melville and to this day has strong ties with the local communities from its home grounds at Tompkins Park in Alfred Cove.

The Palmyra of 2016 now boasts a club that fields players in every grade from Under 6’s through to Premier Grade and even Golden Oldies making us the only club who can lay claim to this in the state.

The club boasts many former players who have represented in provincial and international levels worldwide.

Withoursuccessinthe15-manformatofthegame,in1982Palmyra formed their 7s team to compete on a local and international level.

PALMYRA 7s TEAM INFORMATIONPalmyra 7s team have been competing in domestic and international competitions since its inception and can boast a trophy case full of achievements during this period.

Palmyra has been playing the SCC 7s tournament since 1983 and were plate winners in 1986, 1992, 1995, 2006 and bowl winners in 1999 and 2005. This is a huge achievement for a club who uses local players to compete against clubs fielding marquee International Sevens players in their teams.

Palmyra 7s team also compete in local competitions including the Cockburn 7s and the Margaret River 7s achieving runner up status in both competitions in 2014.
