COMPOUNDING ORA-Sweet ® Flavoured Oral Syrup Vehicle ORA-Sweet ® SF Flavoured Oral Syrup Vehicle Product Description ORA-Sweet ® is a convenient, flavoured syrup-based vehicle, formulated to flavour aqueous solutions and assist the compounding pharmacist in the preparation of oral extemporaneous delivery systems. ORA-Sweet ® may be used alone, or in conjunction with suspending agents, to impart flavour and sweetness while increasing the physical stability of the suspension. ORA-Sweet ® contains suitable preservatives and is buffered to a slightly acidic pH to provide a vehicle which is dependable, consistent, pharmaceutically elegant and easy to use. ORA-Sweet ® is available in standard and sugar free formats. Applications ORA-Sweet ® may be used alone or in combination with other agents. ORA-Sweet ® will retain its flavouring properties when diluted up to 50% with water or suspending agents. It’s versatility makes it ideal for the flavouring of: • Paediatric suspensions • Geriatric suspensions Properties ORA-Sweet ® contains sucrose as the sweetening agent. Small amounts of glycerin and sorbitol are added to prevent "cap-lock" problems common to most syrups. Flavouring agents help increase palatability. ORA-Sweet ® is buffered to a slightly acidic pH to help reduce degradation of medicinal agents through oxidation. Ingredients – ORA-Sweet ® Purified water, sucrose, glycerine, sorbitol, and flavouring. Buffered with citric acid and sodium phosphate. Preserved with methylparaben and potassium sorbate. Ingredients – ORA-Sweet ® Sugar Free Purified water, glycerine, sorbitol, sodium saccharin, xanthan gum, and flavouring. Buffered with citric acid and sodium citrate. Preserved with methylparaben (0.03%), potassium sorbate (0.1%), and propylparaben (0.008%). Specifications – ORA-Sweet ® Appearance: Clear liquid with a slight tint pH: Approximately 4.2 Taste: Sweet citrus-berry flavour Osmolality: 3240 mOsm/kg Shelf Life: 36 months from date of manufacture
