Introduction to Ooty

• Ooty Lake: The lake is encircled by Eucalyptus trees, which creates a nice ambiance to enjoy boating or simply resting on its shores. Built in 1824 by John Sullivan, this artifical lake is popular among tourists of all age groups

• Stone House: It is the very first bungalow constructed in the city. It was constructed by John Sullivan and is now an official residence of the Principal of the Government Arts College, Ooty

• Government Rose Garden: Having more than 20,000 types of roses, it is the largest rose garden in India. The garden has an observation platform named Nila Madaam, from where tourists can enjoy a sight of the entire rose garden

• Avalanche Lake: This lake is an ideal destination for all those who like camping. Located 28 kms from Ooty, it is flocked by thousands of tourists throughout the year

• Mukurthi National Park: Inhabited by deer, jackals, wild cats, macaques and a number of other animals, this park is a paradise for wildlife lovers. Here, one can also sight birds like wood pigeon, Niligiri flycatcher and whistling thrush

Best Time to Visit Ooty

• Winters (November to January): These months are good for enjoying tourist activities like sightseeing and boating. Further, this season is also preferred for enjoying honeymoon

• Summers (March to May): With température ranging from 15 to 20 degree celcius, these months are ideal for comfortably exploring each & every destination inside as well as outside the city

• Monsoons (June to September): Since there is a good rainfall during these months and you can’t indulge in outdoor activities, it is not a good time to visit Ooty. But if you want to have a look at the more picturesque side of the city, you can plan your visit during monsoon
