Welcome back to the 2017 school year. A very warm welcome to Jack Gemmell who joins Room 1. We welcome Jack’s mum Alysha to the Ongaonga School community.
School BBQ I look forward to meeting you all at tomorrow nights school BBQ, weather permitting. I will welcome everyone at 5.10 at the front of school from where students can take parents, grandparents and families to their classes for an informal tour. This is an informal meet and greet the teacher, if parents would like to discuss specific concerns please make an appointment with the teacher for a time suitable for both. The pool will be open for use from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. It will be your responsibility to supervise your children. At approximately 5.30 Room 6, as part of their camp fundraising ventures, will provide the most delicious burgers, sausages and other food items for purchase.
Swimming sports Practice Next Monday, 13 February, the school will be travelling to the Waipukurau Pools to practice for the school’s swimming sports that take place on Friday 17 February. We will bus all students in, however students living in Waipawa or Waipukurau may meet us at the pool at 9.50am. Please see your teacher on arrival for marking the roll. Found uniforms can be dropped anonymously into Room 4 or the office, please by the end of the week.
We love being able to lend out the uniforms, however we cannot keep supplying them if they are not returned. I will be stocktaking next week and employing a tighter lending system.
Thanks, Amy McIlroy

Red School Tops - If you have any old school uniform tops (ones without a collar). Could you please bring them in to the office, as the school would like to use them for sports teams.
Building Progress - The school would like to thank Waipukurau Construction and Timely Consultants for the new Staffroom, decking and Room 2. It’s all looking great. There is still more to come in phase 2, which will be getting underway soon. Watch this space.

Room 1 - Birthday Stories
Christina’s Birthday
Yesterday was my birthday. It was fun because I got a new bike. The bike is purple, my favourite colour. My cake was amazing because it had lots of flowers on. It was a unicorn cake. The flavour was bubblegum, that was blue and the rest was vanilla. The cake was yummy. By Christina McCutcheon
Henry’s Birthday
I had a birthday. I am 6. Oliver, Ben and Cohan came to my birthday. We had a water slide that my Dad built. We all slid down lots of times. We went up and down the slippery water slide. Mum made a chocolate cake with green icing. On the top were round lollies. We ate lots of cake. By Henry MacLeod Mini projects to be handed in tomorrow
Don’t forget, Room 1s Library day is on a Thursday
Thank you - Brenda
