St. Job

(Parable)

Why do bad things happen to good people? At some point in their lives, everyone longs to understand this

mystery. The book of Job puts the question to God. Its reflections provide hope for anyone who is suffering.

The story of Job was based on an old folk tale. Job, the story relates, had a beautiful family and great

prosperity. A good man, he felt blessed by God. But then hard times befell him. His children were killed, all

his wealth was taken from him, and he was stricken with a horrible skin disease. What made all of this even

more difficult was that people of Job’s time believed that the good were rewarded and the wicked punished

during their lives. Suffering was considered to be a punishment for sin.

Though he was angry, confused, and depressed by his suffering, Job continued to turn to God. In the process

he learned that prosperity is not a reward for good behavior. Nor is suffer a punishment. God’s plan is a

mystery beyond our power to understand. And yet, somehow, God’s mystery surrounds us. Trust is the only

fitting response to joy and pleasure, to pain and sadness.

In some of the most beautiful writing in the scriptures, god reminds Job of the splendors of creation.

Perhaps Job suddenly sees himself, even with his suffering (or maybe even because of his sufferings), as

part of God’s wonderful works. Job is filled with awe and thanksgiving and praise.

St. Job, pray for us.

Christmas in July Meeting

Our first Christmas in July chair meeting will be

held this evening, May 6th, in the Parish Dining Room.

Please email [email protected] should you

not be able to attend. We look forward to

discussing this year’s Christmas in July!

PRINCIPAL’S NOTES… 2014-15 REGISTRATION PACKETS

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Registration

Packets will be sent home on Thursday of this

week not Tuesday as previously mentioned in last

week’s newsletter. We apologize for the

inconvenience, but thank you for your patience

and understanding with this unexpected change.

If you have not completed your registration form,

please do so as soon as possible to support plans

for the upcoming school year. If you have made

the decision not to return we would ask that you

complete the form with that information and

return it to the office. Thank you in advance for

your assistance.

FIRST TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE MEETING

Our first meeting held on Tuesday, April 29, began

with foundational information so all participants had

the same knowledge of OMMS’ infrastructure

including an overview on the current state of

technology.

Each member brings a different level of expertise to

the committee including a select group of teachers,

ones that will provide essential information from the

classroom perspective and Computer Science Labs. All

elements will be considered in order to begin

developing short term goals and long term plans. The

first short term goal is to finish projects launched this

past fall, one being the addition of Smart Board

Technology in classrooms which unfortunately was

not completed due to financial limitations.

As the meeting progressed the energy and enthusiasm

built, inclusive of plans for transforming the

technology we now utilize and discussion of various

strategies to achieve the results necessary for our

school and the students. The meeting ended on a

very motivated platform with assigned tasks to

complete prior to the next meeting scheduled later

this month. WE will keep you posted on the

developments, but all left with a sense of anticipation

for the work ahead and the results of that endeavor!

OMMS 6th Grade Returns

We have heard many snippets of the exciting times

that all of our 6th graders enjoyed while away this past

week and look forward to viewing the pictures of

these shared camp experiences! Their classmates,

teachers and PARENTS were happy to see them

return; on Friday all promptly departed for home to

enjoy a long, hot shower and at the end of the day

their own comfortable bed! This week, all are back at

school wondering where the time went, trying to alter

their thinking and focus on the school work ahead.

Thoughts About Motherhood

The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always

find forgiveness. --Honore' de Balzac

A mother’s love cannot be purchased; it is a

gift, a gift that is received over and over

again without end. Remember to treasure

this gift each and every day!

Motherhood is such a blessing and our hope

is that everyone continues to celebrate the

gift of being a mother.

Happy Mother’s Day all year long from

all of us to YOU!
